"You look sleepy."
"I am sleepy. You just woke me."
I jumped on top of him and tried to kiss him.
"No," he hid his head under the blanket. "No,"
I tugged at his blanket. "Come on, a little kiss wouldn't hurt."
"I didn't brush my teeth yet." He said turning away when I managed to pull off the blanket.
"I don't care." I kept pulling at his head and after raining over ten kisses on random places on his face I finally managed to place one on his lips.
Javier jumped off the bed. "You're a bully. Tiny but a bully." I grinned at him widely and he went into the bathroom.
When he returned, I had removed my coat and was under the blanket.
"Aw..." He stood to look at me. "Who's that little angel?"
"You messed up my outfit." I complained when he got on bed. "I had to wake up super early to iron and make sure I get here in time to give you at least two hours before I get to school."
"You're saying that as if you're expecting a gift."
"Damn right I am."
"Wow, vulgar language. Who's teaching you that?" Javier cupped my face and kissed me on the lips.
"You."
He feigned a genuinely surprised face. "I feel honored but I can't accept whats not mine."
I pulled away from him and faced away.
"What's up this time? Did you dream about me and I refused to kiss you again?"
"You said bad stuff to me over the phone yesterday."
"You made me mad." He said. "You had me looking forward to your presence only to crush me in the end."
"You didn't want to listen to me."
"I was mad. Okay? I'm listening now. Why?"
I smiled and turned to him. "I was in a bad mood, and wanted to dress up pretty for you. Then you hurt me."
"Ouch..."
"Yep." I rolled into his arms again.
"Here..." He easily lifted me so I was stranding him, his hands on my hips. "Perfect." He smiled.
I beamed at him. He was an idiot, I admit, but he was my happiness regulator. Not my second boyfriend, but the second guy I felt truly in love with. If you count Rodney as the first, that was.
"Are you okay?" Javier asked.
"Sure, just wondering how I ended up with such a baby..."
"You're seated on me and you think I'm the baby?" Javier pulled me down to kiss the tip of my nose. "I love you; you know that?"
"Mmmh... not sure."
"No, really, I mean it." Javier said and I looked into his eyes. Part of me believed him, but there was a part of me that believed everyone was a liar. Everyone loved for a specific reason, which can change at any given time.
But if that was true, did it mean I didn't love him either? But I did love him, meaning he must truly love me too.
"There was a dead body last night, the main guy would only be available after two a.m. but the family needed the body today for the burial." Javier started.
Sometimes I forgot what Javier was. A computer geek turned pathologist. His love for computer somehow didn't occur to him when he picked a career in pathology.
"So you had to go to the lab at night?" I asked.
"Mortuary. It was only Isaac and I." He looked away and I got off him. "It was creepy. All dead bodies and us. We had to cut open the body and examine. I know I'll be doing that my whole life perhaps but..." he gave a dry cough. "It still terrifies me."
I hugged him.
"We got stuck somewhere and had to wait for the main guy. Isaac called his girlfriend over."
"And she came?"
"Yeah, she lives in the flats. Their love made me think of you." He turned to me and smiled a little. "Then I told them about you."
"Me?"
"I told them I have a cute little girl that loves me so much. She makes sure I have my meals on time, sees me every morning before going to school and if she doesn't, she makes sure she wakes me even if she's in class."
I squeezed my eyes shut in embarrassment. Hearing what I do being said out loud kind of made me shy.
"She's always the first person to text me every morning and usually the first person I see when I wake up." He smiled some more. "You know what he said? He said my girl loves me and I shouldn't let her go."
"Don't let her go then." I told him.
"As if I ever will." He wrapped me into his arms and I kissed his forehead.
"You're actually the first girl I had that gives me forehead kisses." He looked at me. "Forehead kisses are cute; they don't benefit the giver but grant joy and mental wellness to the receiver. The purest ingredient of emotional closeness."
"How do you know all that?"
"Just enjoy how special I take your forehead kisses." He shushed and closed his eyes. "I have approximately an hour of peaceful sleep in your arms."
"Sure, go to sleep then." I took out my phone as he snuggled his face between my breasts.
"Might sound fictious but, I sleep better and wake up rested within the two hours in your arms than a whole night on my own."
"Alright." I smoothed his hair. "Just rest a while."
