Kai looked out of his small cage, with a despairful look on his face. He could see many stalls with monsters working at them. His brown hair, and dirty clothes were blowing in the wind, and a musky scent filled the air. He watched the different kinds of monsters pass by the street. There were trolls, orcs, ogres, beastmen, and many others. All the bustling town noise was overstimulating, making the despair feeling even worse. There were other humans in the cages next to him, and even an elf. They all had the same look of sadness.
Kai missed his old life, playing with friends, having dinner with his parents, and the fun festivals they held once a month. But that all changed when the village got attacked by a hoard of monsters. They massacred all the old folks and men there, and kidnapped the women and children. It was despicable. And it was all to be dragged to this hellhole of a city to be sold as food.
Was playing one second, then the next he was being carried away in a cage by lizardman. Something he never would've guessed on that bright day.
"Fresh meat! Come Get your fresh meat!" The cashier at the stall announced. He was a pig beastman, and was wearing an eyepatch with burly medieval clothes. Kai sat there in silence for a while, he hadn't eaten for 3 days now, and was starting to feel nauseous. After sitting there for a few hours, the cashier noticed Kai's expression. As he approached him, he could smell the pig beastman's disgusting breath. It smelt like rotten eggs. The beastman put a few slices of bread and some water into Kai's cage. Kai ate the food quickly, and finished in mere minutes.
After eating, Kai sighed and walked to the edge of the cage and kneeled through the gap of the bars. He noticed that one of the humans was getting sold to a troll monster. The troll was pot-bellied with short green hair, and was wearing old looking shorts. The human was struggling to escape, but it was all in vain. Hai watched the person get hoisted into a bag, where the troll dragged them onto the busy street and out of site, unable to fight against superior strength of the troll. Kai felt bad the the guy, I mean who wouldn't? He walked to the back of the cage at sat there, furious.
"These wretched monsters will pay someday." Kai muttered under his breath.
He sat there for the rest of the day, fiddling with his fingers.
It was getting dark out, so Kai decided to just go to sleep early. The loud sounds from the street were ringing in his ears. All the conversation and laughter, it was really annoying to him.
"Why don't these beasts just shut up?" Kai yelled. The Pig beastman must've heard him, because he gave Kai an enraged look. He didn't care though, he was the type of guy to simply not give a crap about things. He always was fearless and never got distraught over the past. But he was the guy to keep grudges, so he despised the pig beastman and the monsters that destroyed his town and family. He vowed to someday kill them, if he ever got the chance.
While his eyes were closed trying to sleep, Kai heard conversations through the busy street late at night. There were conversations like "Mom, can I get this fruit?" Or "Oooh, Look at this pretty jewelry!" or gross stuff that nobody would want to hear. There was one thing that sparked his attention though. People were talking about a huge storm that was going to come through the city. Kai didn't think much of it, but he decided to worry about that until the storm did arrive.
After finally falling asleep, Kai woke up the next morning with a cloudy sky overhead. He got up, and yawned. He didn't sleep well that night, but it was fine for him. He got his daily glass of water from the pig beastman, and sipped on it slowly. Looking out on the street, he realized it was less crouded than usual. Probably because of the so-called storm.
He finished his glass of water, and decided to throw it at the pig beastman when he wasn't looking. That got him angry, and he started yelling at the others being sold as food, and even started to punch their cage and harass them. Pretty much scaring them more than they already were. Yeah, maybe he shouldn't have thrown the cup.
A few hours of resting later, a huge 7 foot red-skinned ogre came to the shop and started talking to the pig beastman. Kai poked his head the the space between the bars to watch them. The ogre said he wanted to buy something pretty. Most likely for nefarious reasons. After a while of browsing the 15 others in the stall, he decided to buy a young looking girl with black hair. When they opened her cage she started to scream. Not a very pretty sound. She started to struggle while they put shackles on her neck and legs. Kai thought loudly in his head. He was gritting his teeth just looking at it. But just like last time, the woman got dragged away in a bag, never to be seen again.
Kai went to lay down on the hard floor of the metal cage. Kai thought, now a bit concerned.
After a while, Kai noticed it was lightly raining. He could feel huge gusts of wind coming from what he though was the south. He got up and observed his surroundings. The monsters in the road started to clear out, and it started to get quiet. Even the horrible pig beastman looked concerned.
He wondered. He decided to give that thought a rest and take a nap. The relaxing rain sounds, and the cool gusts of wind carried him to sleep.
Kai later woke up to what he thought was thunder. He looked around, and realized it was raining really hard. He also realized that the streets were now completely empty and the pig beastman was gone. He most likely entered his hut behind the stall selling "food" that Kai was trapped in.
"Of course they never did anything to give us shelter," Kai Muttered. He looked at the others in the cages, they all seemed confused just like Kai.
He thought. It was the only plausible answer for him, because he wasn't always the brightest when it came to logic.
Kai intently watched the rain. It was only pouring harder and harder. It got to the point where Kai and the other slaves were starting to get drenched with water. Lighting strikes were starting to become more frequent also, and even a few bolts struck houses nearby. Kai was starting to get worried, but he also wanted to stay optimistic.
Kai thought. He was dehydrated anyways. Over the past 5 days he was here, he only got 1 medium sized glass of water a day. So it made sense to be happy, at least for Kai. The other slaves didn't seem happy though, and most of them started to scream and yell.
For a while, Kai got up cupped the falling water into his hands and drank it. "Not the most hygenic, but that's alright." Kai said to himself. The other slaves must've saw what he was doing, because they started to copy him.
He didn't realize how thirsty he was, so he drank the rainwater for a while. Somewhere around 10 minutes. The rain was becoming louder and louder after that, and lightning strikes were frequent now. They were happening at leat 3 times in 10 seconds.
After filling his need of water, he peeked out of the cage, and was getting pelted with rainwater. He could feel the rain quickly become even more loud and hard.
This storm far surpassed any storm he had seen. He couldn't see anything 30 feet from him, and lightning was now striking at least 4 times in 10 seconds. "Th-this isn't a normal storm!" Kai yelled. "It formed way to quick!"
The rain was too loud for anyone to hear his words. He could barely hear his own words. Lighting was striking everywhere, and wind was blowing his hair at high speeds. He looked to the sky squinting, and thought he saw a dark shape or sillhouette of something in the distance. Whatever it was, it sent a twirling airmass heading towards him. And quickly at that. He looked back at the other slaves and they all had this terrible look. But Kai wouldn't give up hope yet.
He started to bang at the bars of the cage, trying to shake it, but to no avail.
He then tried to grab the bars and squeze through the gap, but again to no avail.
He also tried to kick the bars, again to no avail.
It was useless. Kai and the others had nowhere to run.
"Damnit!" Kai roared. "This can't be happening, I hate this!"
In the distance, he heard a powerful roar from a mysterious creature. Kai knew the world was full of monsters and stuff, but a roar that powerful? It was so powerful that Kai thought the world would end just from the soundwaves of the roar. To make in worse, the huge tornado-like airmass was really close now, and only getting closer.
The cage started to shake, and then started to rumble. Before he knew it all the cages flew in the air. Kai grabbed onto the bar of the cage, and held it with his life. He felt like he was being pulled apart from the inside.
"GAHHH, WHAT'S HAPPENING!?" Kai screamed. The cage thrashing midair, while pieces of the city's rubble flew through the air. Kai grabbed the bar of the cage even tighter than before. "I WILL NOT DIE HERE!"
Kai kept getting pelted by small bits of rock and rubble, and was starting to lose conciousness.
