Chapter 33 - Back at Willocks again

The intelligent Philippe remains without a clue on how to find the person. He paces up and down.
Yes he says and his face lightens up.
I may ask the receptionist where Mr.Alex is . The receptionist seemed to have recognised his name at the back of the chit.
He hurriedly walks down to her desk
"Excuse me" he says to her.
She looks up at Philippe.
"The man whose name was written back in the chit, who is he. Can you give me his address" he asked her.
"Mr Alex, he visits us now and then. But we do not have his address" she replies to him.
Philippe was visibly disappointed.
"I'am sorry" she says and goes back to her work.
"Well don't you have any address of his, for identification and security?" he asks her.
"Sorry sir, he was recommended by a very powerful man. So we never bother asking him for any sort of details.Well if you must known, he was suggested to us by the chairman himself. The chairman of the hotel" she says and teitched her eyebrows which stated that she was done sharing any more information.
"Well I better head back," he says to her taking her cue.
She nods without looking up.
Philippe turns around.
What do I do now? he wonders.
He looks at the receptionist.
"Can you tell me where they keep the records of people who migrate to the district" he asks her willijg to face her wrath.
"I suggest you head over to the Corporate main building. They maybe able to help you with the matter," she replied a little too harshly.
Philippe was about to head out
"Mr." She calls out
Philippe turned back
"I suggest you better watch out there. Todaybis the grand opening" she warns him.
"Taxi" Philippe calls out as he stepped out of the lobby.
A taxi comes over and Philippe gets in.
He seats himself at the back seat, getting a decent look at the driver.
The driver looks back at him "Its you again," the driver said.
"Well yes, are you the only taxi driver here?" Joked Philippe.
The driver Beltik maintains a serious face
"Where you off to young man?" he asks Philippe.
"To the Main Building," directed Philippe.
"I'm Philippe by the way," Philippe formally Introduces himself.
"I'm Beltik," he responds.
"Beltik, that is a name i have never heard off" commented Philippe.
Beltik Laughs,
"When you have lived long enough as i have, you would find out it is common" replied the older man
"Well young man," said the taxi driver as he took a peek at the young man through the car mirror.
"You wreak of Royalty and not a commoner, and too noble to be at the districts" said Beltik.
"I'm as much a commoner as you, you can take my word on that" replied Philippe.
The driver again looks back at Philippe through the mirror.
Philippe looks away from the cold stare of Beltik, a stare only a hardened man can do.
He looked outside. The roads and the streets and the buildings all looked like they were in constant movement. Much more developed than the previous districts, there was a buzz to it.
He looked up above at the huge skyscrapers.
There were hovercrafts flying above, large numbers of them.
"Its the grand opening today," Beltik tried to make small talk like he usually did with his customers.
There was a big buzz in the sky , there were a numerous children out on the streets. In the alleyways looking at the sky through their eyes and through binoculars as well.
"What work do you have at the main building," the driver asked him.
"I need to find some records," replied Philippe without any inhibitons.
"How far away are we?" asked Philippe still looking out of the window.
"About in 15 minutes," responded Philippe.
"So sir, how long have you been driving the taxi," this time it was Philippe who made the small talk.
"About 20 years" he replied.
"And before that," asked Philippe.
"Before that i was into construction. We built this district from the ground up. Me and a 1000 other men" replied the Russian with pride.
"And a thousand other robots and machines," he said worh his pride being washed away immediately.
"So many of them," Beltik stated and looked outside the window himself, perhaps reminscent of another time.
"Now they have considerably reduced," said Beltik of the machines.
"I have no idea where they have gone" he said to himself.
"It was a hard life, but the robots helped us. They shared our workload." he said to Philippe.
"And the best part was they never got tired, even though they did not get paid" he laughed.
"This indeed is a contrast to our kingdom much to be learned here," he said to Philippe.
"What do you do for a living son," Beltik asked the lead counsel.
"Lawyer" he replied a little hesitantly.
They approach a big building, 100 stories high which could be seen a mile away, if not for the hovercrafts. And Beltik takes a sharp turn to the left, the roads suddenly becoming very wide and new and clean.
"That young man is the building you are looking for," Beltik said to him.
And he hands over a piece of paper over to Philippe.
"That is my number, callme when you are done" Beltik said to Philippe.
"You do have a cell phone right?" asked Beltik.
"I'm afraid not," replied Philippe.
"I will get in touch you sir," said Beltik.
"A lawyer without a phone?" Beltik makes another sarcastic comment.
They are very close to the building now .
"Young man, the difference between the bosses and us" said Beltik with a sudden change in tone and the direction of the conversation.
Philippe was a bit startled with the abrupt change of conversation
"The difference is," Beltik continues. "Their eyes, it is attached to their head completely and the size of their back membrane. It is slightly larger than yours.
"Ears, Back Membrane" noted Philippe.
The taxi comes to a halt.
"Thank you sir, said Philippe as he gets down from the taxi.
"20 shillings," Said Beltik.
"Sorry," he said giving the driver a bill before he left.
"I almost forgot" said Philippe.
Beltik does not pay heed to the apology. He puts the bill in his pocket and tells him "Call me when you are finished with your errand,I will drop you back to the hotel"
Philippe walks into building.
