Chereads / Atticus - Part 1 / Chapter 13 - Father of Philippe

Chapter 13 - Father of Philippe

Philippe lost his father when he was about 10 years old. He had lost his father to a valiant death, an honorable one. His father Marcus was the general of the army of King Maximus. They fought together in many battles, fighting side by side. King Maximus was a renowned fighter back in the day. Those were the great years of the empire when their reign stretched all over the lands. There was no corporation, no Darticus. This was a time when King Maximus ruled the planet with an iron fist. An iron fist that was fair and just. Admiral General Marcus is an equally honorable man. There were no armies that scared them, no war they turned their back on. At the front of the armies, they led. It was said there were no words required to motivate the soldiers, just their presence was enough. The confidence that they could take on anyone. The natural and the supernatural were met with equal treatment. The armies retreated slowly in a week's time and scurried away by the end of week 2.
The legend speaks of the battle of Wilmir, where the enemies attacked from within the forests. It was a very troubling fight for the army of King Maximus. They were being outclassed from the onset by the enemies, and King Maximus and the general were slowly separated. This caused the armies to become a little unsettled. Was this a war they were going to lose in over a decade? King Maximus fought valiantly brushing away many soldiers with ease. There was no sign of weariness in the king, this caused a bit of a burst to the soldiers. However, it did not last long, the extra boost. The war was getting out of their hands and the repercussions would be of great damage. The king searched for Maximus and he was nowhere to be seen. He too was beginning to lose hope, the enemies began to surround the King. Was it to be his last day? he thought to himself. At the last moment when the enemy was about to put a dart in the heart of the king, a miracle happened!
The enemies were starting to get picked off one by one. Enters Maximus! in the arena chopping the heads off one by one. Invisible creatures kill their enemies with equal ease. The king looked at the general and smirked. Markus too let out a very rare smile. After all, he had done the impossible. He had made a very unlikely ally, the ghosts of Wilmir! The ghosts of Wilmir respond to no call and answer no one. The very sight of the ghosts bought the king's army to life. Now Maximus and the king, fighting along with the ghosts were starting to finish their enemies one by one.
It wasn't to be another five years that such a tough war was to take place!
The last war with the king and the general.
Philippe is to be around 10 now, a young man who felt invincible and thought he was destined to follow in his father's footsteps. Even his father thought so! He was showing promise and swordsmanship of high quality at a very young age. That year the galaxy was under a great deal of turmoil. More frequent wars than ever before. An invincible force was a bit concerned for the first time. The dark lord was creating fear all over. A dark presence such as this was troubling to the general folk. The attack was to be imminent and soldiers sat in their tents sharpening their swords and shining their helmets. Army camps were set up all over the lands. The full strength of the army was on display. Even though the general public showed fear, the armies were very confident that they could defeat the dark lord. After all, they have defeated anyone who dared entered the planet. For weeks they sat in their camps prepared. Maybe the dark lord is scared they thought.
One final night.
At night before the beginning of dawn, when most of the soldiers were asleep. The enemies arrived in hoards, hitting a large number of the soldiers in their sleep. As they were being chopped off the alarm goes off loudly and the king's army begin to gather their strength and begin to enter formations. The fight goes on, bodies mount and even the night does not stop the fight. The dark lord is relentless, his army fearless. As the armies fight on, the dark lord is not to be seen. Maximus and Marcus fight valiantly as ever creating fear in the enemies who dared cross their path. Night or day nor food nor shelter was a cause of concern now. It was the toughest fight they have had and they ought to have for a very long time. As they raced from one place to another, a cavalry of bowmen shot arrows into the skies. Clearing away the first couple of lines at ease. The battle was being equally matched. After a week-long fight, the dark lord was still not to be seen. Only when the battle was beginning to tilt in the favor of the king, did he arrive. His arrival was majestic, the clouds themselves parted and lighting flew all over the place, and the sounds of mountains crashing were heard all over. The enemies rejoiced upon the arrival of the dark lord. He came down from his dark chariot with horses half dead and half alive clearing the soldiers ten at a time. The brave souls that dared to fight were immediately incarcerated. Maximus looked up at the sky, this enemy was too powerful he thought. Maybe we need to retreat he was contemplating.
When the sign to retreat was almost announced, a blazing fire cracked open the darkness. A raging meteor flew from the sky to the land at incredible speed. It was the fire chariot, now the king's army rejoiced. Their protector has finally arrived after a very long time. The fire chariot went through the enemy soldiers with ease and stood in front of the dark lord. Their clashing caused vibrations all over, dusk turned to dawn. Their chariots clashed and swords thundered. Shock wave after shock wave flew, the soldiers in close proximity flying away as though a tornado was carrying them. A fight such as this was rarely witnessed!
After many blows and clinks, the dark lord was edging towards defeating the fire chariot. Maximus looks over at Marcus, but he was nowhere to be seen. He spots Marcus braving the winds and going closer to the supernatural beings. Maximus was surprised but not at all worried. It was in his nature, after all, to never run away from a fight. And to win no matter what the circumstances were. As Marcus gets closer to the fight he is thrown away many times. Flung into the air but he seems relentless. Slowly making his way closer to the dark lord creeping upon his back. One stab through the back of his chest and the war would be over he thought. He gets close enough to land the blow, as he is about to draw his sword to the lord's body...
