Chapter 10 - Second prey

Andria's pov

I looked at the sky only to discover it was already late and beautiful stars were out. The sky really looked peaceful and I wished my heart would adapt to it.

But it wasn't easy. It had never been easy.

I spent the entire day at the amusement park. I used to come here with dad. It helped keep my memories with him. Sitting in a deserted area away from the playing kids, I smiled. The park was the only thing that released an honest smile from my lips.

I watched the kids and memories of my days with Dad rushed him. He'd hold me whenever I rode those large horses on the merry-go-round. I wanted to do that badly but I couldn't. I just couldn't...

Tears escaped my tear ducts and I cried without shame. Why was I crying? I mean this place contained lots of wonderful memories but I'm crying. Why?

I shook my head as I gathered strength to go home. The whole park was empty and a strong wind was coming.

I took my miserable self outside the park and for some reason, I refused taking a cab. I don't know why, I just didn't feel like it.

The streets were busy as always and voices could be heard from backgrounds. I sighed as I walked trying my best to remain calm. I watched the lane and only wished I would appear at home.

I still had a long way to go. Then I took out my nail cutter and started trimming my nails on the way - soon I wouldn't even realize I was home. The trick worked all the time.

The streets lights were my leaders and I followed them as I got deeper into the dark.

Soon I got to a very dark and lonely street before mine. There weren't much light so I had to be careful to avoid stumbling.

I hated being injured. I hated blood!

I walked down the street. I was weak but very much aware of my surroundings. I was alert and very agile too. Being a serial killer, I mean I wasn't yet but I'm a killer...it taught me enough stuffs to get going. Knowing when to strike and lay low too.

I paused as I sighted a figure from a far, Putting my nail cutter to a stop. Then the hunger in me arose, my hands formed fists as I tried to absorb my anger.

My prey was right in front of me.

My eyes widened in hunger and my blood boiled. My nail cutter was tasty too - tasty for blood.

I looked around to observe the atmosphere and my surroundings. No one was coming. This is my chance.

I walked slowly towards her, my weak body now energized. Where did strength come from? I just suddenly felt a surge of electrifying energy within me.

I was few inches away from her when suddenly a boy figure showed up, stepping out of a taxi. I stopped in track and was smart enough to hide behind a wall. A terrified look on my face as I listened to their conversation.

The woman was actually taking out the trash.

"Hi mom" he called out and she looked side ways as she recognized his voice.

She even has a son? That wench! She destroyed my family and ended up building a wonderful home. God punish her..no the predator punish her!

She hugged him happily, her teeth almost fell off due to her constant smiles.

I frowned, she was wearing a mask - a fake mask, a pretentious one. I couldn't be fooled by her facial expression. That face destroyed my family.

I couldn't hear the rest of their conversation since they almost spoke in whispers. They looked happy too.

I was becoming impatient and I flexed my arms trying to stay Calm. The moon was bright and a sad smile curved on my lips - I at least have a witness this night.

The boy or rather man left, carrying his bag above his shoulder. Seems like he returned from a trip or so. I don't care.

She turned her attention back to the trash but this time she didn't stop smiling. I hate that happy smile and I'm going to kick it off her damn face.

She would never smile again after death.

I carefully twisted my neck in a zombie like manner and verged towards my prey.
