Chapter 41 - A Real Certified Adventurer

[Arius POV]

"The Adventurer Guild."

Here I was, in the early morning, standing in front of the newly constructed building of the Adventurer Guild. Looking at the rustic sign that hung proudly on top of the giant building, I had mixed feelings about what happened a year ago. The Adventurer Guild did very little actually to help fight off the situation.

"Why are we here again?"

"Master Doherty told me that you need to get acquainted with the Guild's ranking system, plus it is high time for you to be a registered Adventurer. Unless we are really strong, rich or a part of the nobility, we will have a hard time travelling around."

Looking to my right, I speak to Big Brother Jaque, who was also observing the newly constructed building.

"Isn't there a guild for Craftsmen that I can go to instead?"

"Sorry Arius, the Craftsmen Guild is a lot less spread out compared to the Adventurer Guild. You'll need to at least go to a city to find one...On a side note, who would've thought that they would build this thing next to Sir Earnest's Depot."

Looking around the surrounding, you would see that there really wasn't much around. A road that extended in either direction, the town in the distance and one giant building plus one small building.

I feel a pat on the back as Big Brother Jaque walks into the building. Seeing that I didn't really have any other choice, I walk in as well.

Walking inside, I see a slightly different interior than before, the big disk was the first thing that I saw with receptionists lining the left side of the room, and the right side featured chairs and tables where people were eating.

This time, we didn't immediately walk toward the reception. Instead, Big Brother Jaque walks me toward the big disk and starts talking.

"Since I was an Adventurer, I know most of the things in here quite well. So I'll be choosing you around today!"

Big Brother Jaque looked quite happy to be in the Adventurer Guild. Every once in a while, I heard him talk about how much fun he had as an Adventurer but every time he would get halfway through before he would need to leave to do something.

"So this is the Adventurer Guild, an organization that spans the entire country! For a little bit of history, it is an organization set up by the council for the overall protection of Euqolia and exploration of the many forbidden areas around the continent as well as gathering all existing adventurers into one official affiliation.

Before, adventurers were simply people that killed dangerous monsters. It is said that the profession of adventurers was founded primarily to combat the increasing amount of monsters caused by the S.T.A.s."

As he talked, Big Brother Jaque slowly moved to one side of the room where he points at a giant map on the wall.

"This is a giant map of Euqolia and it's rumoured that in every single town and city, there exists an Adventurer Guild! As an Adventurer, you'll be able to truly adventure around the country and explore many different places!"

"Wait really! Big Brother, have you gone outside the Kingdom before?"

"*sigh* Sadly, I didn't. Perhaps once you become a strong enough Adventurer, we can go and adventure together."

"Yeah! Let's do that. Let's get me registered!"

"HOLD IT!"

Just as I start running toward the reception area, I feel my feet no longer touch the ground as something picks me up by the shirt. As I slowly spin around, I see the ominous smiling face of Big Brother. It is not often that you see him smiling, usually, he only smirks at you. But when he does, I often have to undergo a torturous few hours. Rotating my waist, I rotate back around to break eye contact with Big Brother's creepy smile.

"Arius, I pulled time out of my day to come here to explain to YOU. So I think you should let me finish."

"A-Alright..."

After my uneasy response, the grip on my shirt disappears as I land back on my feet. Turning around I see Big Brother walking towards the big disk in the middle of the room.

"In every branch of the Adventurer Guild, you'll find a few things in common. There will always be a lounge, a reception and most importantly a Guild Disk. A Guild Disk is given to each branch by the headquarters of the Adventurer Guild Located in the capital of the country. These disks serve many functions but are mostly used to show the quests available to do. There are markers of different sizes and colours to signal its urgency and its difficulty.

Getting into difficulties, they correlate to the ranking of the Adventurer Guild. The Adventurer Guild uses a ranking system that is universally used across different guilds as well, such as the Craftsman guild. The ranks correlate to a person's strength but ranks aren't given based on the stats shown in our info sheets but instead based on ability, performance and effectiveness.

From lowest to highest there are,

-Iron, Which is temporary

-Copper

-Steel

-Bronze

-Silver

-Gold

-Titanium

-Mythril

After that, there are a few more that are rumoured to exist. In addition to the rankings, all guilds include an additional system. The Star System.

It's very simple, you need to get five stars before you can advance to the next rank. In the adventurer guild, you can get stars or be awarded them.

To advance in rank in the other guilds, you must create items of that tier. Once you have 5 stars, you take a test at the guild to be promoted to the next tier. You'll get those details once you actually need to register at the Craftsman Guild.

Hmmm... Alright, that's pretty much it. Let's get you signed up."

Walking over to the reception, we see a familiar person there.

"Roger, your still here!"

"Of course, what are you doing here again?"

"Gotta register this guy for real now."

"Hmm... a little young but alright, here's the paper."

Roger passes me a piece of paper and a pen. On the paper were questions asking for basic things, such as name, race, age, strength, and stuff like that so I quickly started filling out the sheet. While I filled out the questions, Jaque and Roger start having a conversation to pass time.

"Roger, this place is a lot different from the old one."

"Well, its to be expected the old manager was found guilty of pocketing the guild's money and was booted. I heard that the new one is a retired adventurer from the north."

"I knew that guy wasn't clean! I can't believe he even managed to make it that far. Still, an Adventurer from the North, huh? I wonder what race they are."

"Yeah, I've never seen them. Those from the north would stick out here in the South."

"Alright, I'm all done!"

Just as Big Brother finished speaking, I take the newly filled paper and give it to Roger. He talks it and gives it a quick look before rolling it up and dropping it down a tube.

"So you still choosing dwarf?"

"Of course, that's what I am and will always be!"

"Alright, I'll complete your choice."

Soon after, Roger walks away only to return with a card in hand. Giving it to me, I see all of my information listed and carefully looking at it, I see that the card was lined with shiny, orange copper.

"Alright, thanks man. Arius, let's go do a quest to get you started."

"Alright!!"

After waving goodbye to Roger, we make our way back to the Guild Disk. Big Brother Jaque looks around before tapping on one of the markers and showing the task.

"Alright, this one is good. Let's go catch some Furry Mice."

...

Before you know it, we were walking around the plains searching for these 'Furry Mice'.

"Big Brother, what do they even look like?"

"Think of them as a big ball of fur with tails, very cute and cuddly. You'll know it once you see it."

"Hmmm"

Squinting my eyes to get a better view of my surroundings, I look all around for anything. Suddenly, I see a patch of grass move as a small brown ball jumps out and lands back into the grass and moves away.

"THERE!"

Running after the trail of moving grass, I have my hands out ready to grap the mouse in my hands. Tracking the mouse as it moves around the grass, taking sharp corners and zigzags, I get ready to pounce on it and grab it.

Getting ready, I see it take a strong right and there, I jump at it.

"Come on! Gotcha!"

Landing head first into the grass, I feel a soft ball in my hands frantically trying to squire its way out. Looking up I see a cut round fur ball that was wiggling in my hands.

"Big Brother, I caught-"

Slip

Just As I try to call Big Brother over, I see the brown ball fly out from my grasp and scurry back into the grass.

"Nooo, come back!"

For the other Guilds where you create items, you need to complete the following to receive stars:

4-star: 4 items of higher tier with 70%efficiency/purity
