Chereads / THE MONSTER SYSTEM / Chapter 66 - TYPICAL DAY, BUSINESS AS USUAL

Chapter 66 - TYPICAL DAY, BUSINESS AS USUAL

"So that's what happened," Jay said, nodding his head after I had just explained to them the situation when they had all passed out back when Alex and Arnold were kidnapped.

Flintheart had brought me back to the med area as promised, after thoroughly apologizing for his failure, which went about something like this...

***

"I'm really sorry, kid, for not protecting those kids," (that's Thorough if it's him. He's never apologized for anything)

"Don't worry bro. I don't blame you at all. They had you all figured out, you know,"

"Yeah well... wasn't smart of you to barge into our meeting naked like that,"

"W–well you see..."

"And also, we are alone, so there's no need to place your hands there. Nothing you can hide from me that I haven't already seen,"

"Why you–"

***

Then I kicked him in the shins, he cried in pain, and life continued. Though he was surprised to see three of the students he had just saved back in hospital beds because of me. After an earful from him, he had left to go 'pick' my punishment for talking back to a teacher and barging into a serious meeting.

Well anyways, here I was, explaining to the guys what went down in the meeting when everyone was fully awake, including the North prefect.

"We'll just have to wait for the principal to tell us what to do cause for now they still have no idea where the two were kidnapped to," I finished.

Everyone looked satisfied with my explanation, but I could still see the worry in their eyes. It's not like anything had changed really. Arnold and Alex were still in danger, and here we were without a clue of where they were taken in the entire galaxy.

But still, this is not something they should be worried about now.

"Hey, not to pry or anything, but shouldn't you guys be heading back to your dorm rooms to prepare for the night?"

"Oh yeah! Wait... why are you in such a rush to get rid of us?" Kira asked while raising an eyebrow in question.

"Ah...about that...to be more specific, it's you girls that I want out of my room," I said as I scratched my chin.

"Why?" all three asked together.

"This is something for the boys, you see,"

Kira folded her hands as she stared me up and down. "What could possibly be that important that you want to chase us out of here? Well we're not leaving! At least I'm not!"

"Same here!" Jessie joined in.

"I–I'll also like to remain," Emily concluded.

I signed in exasperation at the girls. "Fine then. Don't say I didn't warn you. Now, where did they put them pants?"

"Hold up! You didn't say you were going to change!" Kira looked flustered and horrified at the same time.

"Really? I thought I made it pretty obvious with the 'only boys' thing and stuff,"

"Ewww! You've got no class you pervert!" Kira moaned in disgust as she shielded her eyes when I finally pulled out my shorts from the drawer. Emily quickly joined her, but Jessie still stared on.

"Oh wow. You really were going to change right in front of us. I can't deny that I'm not a little bit curious–"

Kira quickly ushered the girls out of the room. "Nope! Let's leave, right now! I won't allow you guys staying in the same room with this pervert!"

Jay also stood up with a slight smile on his face once the girls had left. "I'll see to it that they aren't too mad Max. But I have to ask, were you really going to change right in front of them?"

"Wouldn't be a man if you did," Clive spoke up.

"You know what, skat with the lot of you! Only these three boys are allowed in here!"

"Okay, okay. We're leaving, Jeez," Jay said as he helped Clive to the door, leaving the four of us alone.

Alright then. Now, how to deal with these three–wait never mind. They're already down for the count. I'm I even sure they were listening to me as I explained the situation? They all looked peaceful in their sleep though, no doubt the stress finally catching up to them.

It's good if the gang don't worry too much about this kidnapping. For now, they can do nothing to help so it would be pointless for them to lose their smiles this early on in life. Let them enjoy their life at camp and only stress with the small issues like homework or assignments and stuff.

***

[You were listening in?]

[Oh yeah. Hold on...]

***

I put on my army clothes and accessories then sat in the chair right next to Blade. They still hadn't discharged me yet so I had to wait out the documents to be filled up. It's a good thing cause now's a perfect time as any to look at my new ability.

[Hit me dude]

[Honestly speaking, I expected something better]

[But, it might still be useful. Especially in dungeons]

Bradley chuckled in my mind.

[When Hades freezes over]

[What? Now I shoot sleeping darts out of my butt? Please don't tell me that's the new power!]

[Yeah...kind of figured that out for my self. Where are you going with this? ]

[Yeah?]

[I told you to... NO WAY! BRADLEY, YOU ARE A FRICKING GENIUS! I TAKE BACK EVERYTHING BAD I'VE EVER SAID ABOUT YOU!]

[This is good...no. This is excellent news!]

[–If I upgrade it well enough, I'll be able to tell where they took Arnold and Alex. Thank the gods due to my cautiousness!]

***

This was very good news! I can't believe that there's a chance to save my friends sitting right in front of me! Sure, I have some work to do before I can spread the range of the map but still... Anything is better than nothing.

This skill really is a blessing in disguise! I wonder...

***

<*Skill *map* has been activated by user*>

***

A large hologram appeared before me. Ever since I got the system, I realized that only I could see the messages and missions it sent me, so this map was by no way visible to anyone else.

Interesting. From what I can tell, this is a clear representation of the entire school. I could see all the corridors (they were too many mind you) the cafeteria, oh and there are the–?

The map began destorting when I tried viewing the rooms.

***

[What is happening?]

***

I followed Bradley's instructions and surprisingly, it followed my thoughts. I could suddenly view Kira's room, and in 3-D no less. There she was, talking to her roommate about gods knows what–oh! Now she's standing up and moving her hands her back. I think she's about to–!

"Nope!"

I immediately closed down the map before I saw something I'd regret.

"Uh...why are you yelling so loud? And what's with the red face?" Blade asked as he turned to me. Guess I was too loud for my liking.

"I think you are imagining things,"

"No, no. That's definitely you blushing, Max. What, saw something you shouldn't have?"he asked with a smirk on his face.

"I'm literally in the same room as you. What could I have possibly seen here that I don't already have to make me blush,"

He looked at me with these accusatory eyes. "I don't know why, but you were about to see something lewd, weren't you? I just lack the evidence to prove it,"

***

The doctor later came in and I was soon discharged. The three still had a few things to talk with the healers, so I left them in the hospital to do something that I haven't done in a while. They must all be awake now right?

I turned to a corridor I was sure was not used by anyone right now, and the second the coast was clear, I activated the ring of the dungeon of Spir.

I was suddenly pulled into a dark portal and the next second, I was standing right in front of the dungeon.

"Ugh," I moaned when the gravity of the planet finally set in for my body

***

<*Passive skill *poison resistance(LVL 4)* has climbed a level!*>

***

"Gah! What happened to this planet?! Did the atmosphere become even more toxic than before?!"

The surroundings looked just as I remembered, except, this time, there were no beasts coming up to attack me. I walked around the level one dungeon, maybe to look for at least one monster to warm me up, but was surprised to find not even a single one around.

There were only bones left, and from what I can tell, they looked new. Something is not right here. Either there's a new boss in town who devours his own comrades, or a new beast has joined the dungeon. All of which don't sound good to me.

***

[Bradley, is it possible for a boss monster to kill its comrades in a dungeon?]

I had a scary thought just now, and this feeling...

[Bradley, are the wolves okay?]

[Okay]

~~~
[Hello? Anyone around? Murasaki?]
(...)
Damn, no answer. This doesn't look good.
[Hey guys, if this is a joke, then it's not funny! Hello? At this point I would even take Red...]
(Oh hell no! Who do you think you are to talk about me like that?!) a loud, angry voice screamed through the transmission.
I sighed in relief when I knew who answered.
[Damn wolf! Why didn't you answer sooner?!]
(Because I told him not to) someone else joined the transmission.
[Wha–Murasaki?]
(The one and only. Sup boss? Sorry, can't talk right now, in the middle of a fight)
[Wait...fight? Hold on, where are you?]
(Fifth level of the dungeon)
[Just wait there, I'm coming to help you guys!]
(We're doing fine thank you very much, but it's nice to know you care for us so much)
[And why wouldn't I? Also, I think you guys have someone trailing behind you]
(Nah, don't sweat it boss, if you are talking about the bones, that was us. Sorry to worry you)
[Fine. I'm on my way]
***
I quickly made my way up to the fifth level, which was relatively easy since the wolves had cleared all the beasts. I later met up with the wolves, who were already done with their fight.
"BOSS!" Murasaki exclaimed in excitement and bounced his way up to me.
"Wait, hold on! You still have blood on your–OOF!"
He tackled me to the ground before I could finish and began licking me furiously. He had grown impeccably during the time I was away. What was he called again, a hell hound?
His was twice the size as before, his fur a deeper shade of purple with a light purple mane covering his neck. Being a hell hound, he had two new horns protruding from his skull, both probably made of diamond.
I tried pulling him off me but found that a task too much for me. Guess his strength and weight increased too.
"Get off me, Saki! Your going to kill me!"
"Oh, sorry boss. I was just too excited to see you,"
He finally moved his huge body away from me, which slowly shrunk down to the size I was used to. Wait... He could have done that before he pounced on me?!
The rest of the wolves all looked pleased to see me, with all either almost advancing to centurion monsters, either to a hell hound or to whatever beast Red is, and the rest at least grade A. Speaking of which...
"You haven't changed," I told Red.
"I could say the same thing about you," he snarled back.
I was glad to see them all well, and was hoping for them to help me with something.
"Alright guys, what's say we make this trip of mine worthwhile and make our way to the top?"
"It's not as easy as you think, Boss,"
"Believe me, I know that more than any of you. So, let's all make it our goal to reach the tenth floor of this dungeon or die trying!"
The wolves howled in approval as Saki easily picked me up from the ground.
"Alright then! March, to victory!" I chanted with new found strength.
***
[There is only one way to upgrade my self. These beasts are about to know there's a new monster in town, and it craves for blood!]
[So what? Provided I manage to improve the map, right?]
