Chapter 45 - TEOT 45

(Kendall)

I had tried reaching out to Adrian, but the calls went into voicemails. His line was either busy or unreachable.

I also sent out my men to fetch him at the two places I suspected–his mansion and the company, and it came to my notice that he hadn't visited the company in months.

He wasn't at his mansion, and there was no single trace of Aurora, too.

Anyways, why should she be there? After all, they're divorced.

No, no, no! They were still seeing each other. The media confirmed it on two fucking occasions.

The morning he left my hotel room without informing me, he was seen at her workplace. A night ago, they were caught on camera at the rooftop bar.

Had they found out the truth already?

The truth that their divorce papers were fake?

Even if they had the proof against me, it made no sense.

Adrian knew me so well, that he wouldn't risk his parents' lives for that cheap, dirty brat who would stoop so low to get his attention.

I knew how hard it is to resist his charms, but she should respect the fact that he's mine.

She hadn't still learnt her lesson by staying away from what's rightfully mine. She was crossing the line, but I would definitely show her where she belongs.

She wasn't going to give up, easily. So, she should keep praying I don't set my eyes on her, again because I won't spare her, this time.

She was going to die a miserable death in my hands, and I'd ensure Adrian won't be able to recognize her, even in his next life.

-knock-knock-

"Come in," I responded, staring at the ceiling. I was so lost that I didn't know when someone stepped in.

"Good day, mi'lady," a familiar masculine voice greeted.

"Did you find the girl?" I asked. I closed my eyes, waiting for a reply.

"Are you looking for someone?"

My heart leaped out of my mouth when I realized he was directing his question to me.

What have I done, now? I wasn't meant to say that, but I wasn't thinking straight at the moment. I thought it was one of my men.

I didn't want anyone to suspect a thing, but I couldn't help it.

Aurora, Aurora!

She was living rent-free in my head. Her existence was a threat to my happiness. My blood boils each time I think of wiping her away from this Earth's surface.

"Is everything okay, miss?"

My eyes fell on the guy who was standing at my side, now. He was dressed in his regular black-and-white work outfit.

It became clearer why his voice sounded familiar at first. I had been staying at the hotel since I moved back, so I got used to majority of the workers.

"Yes. Sorry, what can I offer you?" I asked.

He kept his hands behind his back. "You just received a parcel from someone. Should I bring it in or you'll pick it up at the reception?"

I sat up, thinking I didn't hear him well.

"A parcel?" I asked in an astonished tone, and he nodded.

It must be from Adrian. So, why not?

All my worries disappeared into the thin air, and the corner of my lips quirked up. "Bring it in, please."

"As you wish," he took a bow, and left.

Curiosity had the best of me. I counted one to ten, over and over again until I saw the doorknob twist.

I couldn't wait for him to bring it all the way to my bed, so I took long strides to the door and carried the big parcel from his hand.

I shut the door with my butt and jogged down to my bed. I quickly untied the ribbon and lifted the lid. In a haste, I emptied the box on the bed.

I shifted my gaze from the items to a small note attached to the parcel, and a big smile plastered on my face after reading.
