Chapter 7 - Drone

As the night fell, I sat by the window, staring out into the darkness of the world outside. The silence was only broken by the occasional sound of zombies scratching at the door or the distant sound of gunshots. Maki was still asleep, exhausted from the day's events.

I couldn't help but think about what she had said. She was an inventor and an engineer, and her family had built the first rocket to go to space. If what she said was true, then she would be a valuable addition to my team. But I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was off.

As I sat there lost in thought, I heard a faint humming sound. It was coming from Maki's backpack. Curiosity got the better of me, and I reached for it. As I opened it, I found a small drone, hovering inside.

"What's this?" I muttered to myself. I had never seen anything like it before. It looked like it had been built with precision, the components carefully put together to create a small, agile drone.

Just then, Maki woke up and saw me holding the drone. "Oh, that's my invention," she said, rubbing her eyes. "It's a drone that can be controlled using your thoughts."

I was amazed. This was the kind of technology that could change the world. "How did you come up with this?" I asked her, still in awe.

Maki sat up, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Well, I was working on a project that involved interfacing technology with the human mind. I realized that the brain emits certain signals that can be picked up and interpreted. So I built this drone that can read those signals and respond to them."

I was impressed. Maki was not just smart; she was a genius. She could build things that could change the course of humanity. "You're amazing," I told her.

Maki smiled. "Thank you. But I still have a lot to learn."

We sat there, talking for hours, sharing stories of our past and our hopes for the future. It was then that I realized that Maki was not just a valuable asset to our team; she was also a friend.

As the night wore on, I knew that our journey was going to be a dangerous one. But with Maki by my side, I knew that we could face whatever came our way. Together, we would build a new world, one where technology and humanity could coexist in harmony
