Chapter 164 - Xenogenesis Day of the Demon

'I'm sorry about what happened to Nemesis.'

[It was a long time ago.]

'I do have a question though: you knew Nemesis had been killed and yet you went on and signed a contract with Demeter, why?' Hunter asked.

[I didn't. I could still feel Nemesis when I met Demeter, she was alive. Demeter had made it so that if she died so would Invidia so I couldn't do anything to her. I had to go along with the deal even though I figured out halfway through that something had already happened to Invidia.]

[ The truth is the Dark Majesty could've broken the contract at any time he wanted but didn't as he was the ruler of Hel at the time it was made and breaking it would set a precedent that would allow demons to break contracts without repercussions.

When the Dark Majesty returned to Hel with Nemesis's corpse, Luella was the first person to meet him. She felt when her father returned but not her mother and feared the worst.

She was right to suspect something was wrong.

When she saw the body, the gray-eyed demonette broke down and inquired how it happened. The Dark King had no answer for his daughter as his contract barred him from discussing what occurred.

He held his daughter close and comforted her with his words. "I'll be gone for a while, Luella. I want you to rule Hel in that time."

"No," Luella said with teary eyes. "Don't leave me again, please."

So the Dark Majesty left with his daughter, incorporating Grau Hel into the upper and lower regions of Hel and leaving them to Lilith and Alastair respectively.

The Dark Majesty did not speak about what happened in Nym'Roal and anytime the demonette brought it up, there was only anger in his eyes but he never gave any answer to her questions.

Luella eventually realized that her father, the Dark Majesty, was bound by contract and using astral projection, moved to Nym'Roal, exploiting a loophole in the deal between Demeter and the Dark Majesty as she didn't move there physically.

There, she met with Aia, a demigoddess whose village was flooded by the sea. After planting seeds of hatred for the gods in the heart of the young demigoddess, Luella told her of a way to destroy them once and for all.

"These people call themselves gods but in reality, they're just mere humans who have high mystical energy and have tasted fruits from the trees of immortality."

"They have been allowed unchallenged for too long. Pillaging whatever land they can find, breaking families wherever they go, destroying villages for fun," said Luella, the last point referencing what happened to Aia's village.

A village that was of peace and harmony, flooded when two gods argued which one of them could create the largest tidal wave.

"They are savages," Luella continued. "Who have, for years, looked impossible to kill but there is a way."

"The demons would put them down."

"We shall march into this world in hundreds of thousands and put them down for good and we shall rid this world of the scourge that is gods, once and for all."

Aia nodded in agreement. "What would you like me to do?"

...

As per Luella's instructions and with the young demonette's help, Aia found a way into Olympus and found Demeter's quarters.

After wrecking the place, Aia found the vase and broke it thus freeing the Dark Majesty and destroying the contract that barred demons from entering Nym'Roal.

Demeter sensed the sudden change and rushed to her chambers to find what had happened. In Hel, the Dark Majesty's eyes glowed bright red.

As Aia flees Olympus and the Olympians that pursue her, Luella projects herself to the temple of Gaia in the Eastern Province.

A priestess of Gaia was in possession of the eye of Arastoso after following Praes inconspicuously with plans to steal it and use it to open an eye-shaped portal when the former farmer defeats the sea dragon. The Elder Goddess, Gaia, had given such instructions to the priestess.

Gaia possessed the priestess as soon as Luella's projection entered the temple. "Is it done?" Gaia asked.

"It is," Luella replied.

So Gaia chanted in tongues and using the eye of Arastoso, opened an eye-shaped portal that shattered the veil that shielded Nym'Roal from other realms.

Luella smiled and left Nym'Roal.

When Demeter reached her chambers, she found the broken case and quickly realized what it meant.

That day was the Theikos Giotarzontas and after Zeus had spent more than a hundred human years to arrange it, she couldn't possibly tell the King of what just happened and ruin his great feast.

So she rushed to the son of Zeus, Apollo, and his mother, Leto, informing them of the opening of the eye-shaped portal.

Apollo and Demeter rushed away from Olympus, not before telling Leto to stay in Olympus as the demons would have no way of making it there.

"Let me come with you and help prevent those filthy demons from corrupting our beautiful fields."

"No, mother," Apollo discouraged. "This place has protected us from the Titans, the giants, and even the god-eater himself. If the demons somehow make it past our line of defense, I want you here, where I know you're safe."

Leto agreed and stayed in Olympus while Apollo and Demeter gathered their attendants and a few other gods who knew a bit of what was happening and went down to earth with them. There, Apollo and Demeter rallied men who had temples dedicated to them against the impending arrival of the Hel dwellers.

And so they marched, numbers close to half of a million towards the temple of Gaia in the Eastern Province. Once they arrived there, Demeter created a huge impenetrable energy shield to keep the demons on the other side of the 'sacred land'.

Luella went to the in-between and gathered her subjects who marched in tandem into the realm of the mortals through the eye-shaped portal.

"Humans!" Luella called, her voice so loud all the mortals there could hear her yet the voice remained pleasant to the ears. "We hold no grudge against you and wish not to fight you providing you turn to us the immortals among your ranks."

No response.

Luella stepped back while the demons that came with her from the in-between attempted to break the energy shield but it would not budge.

Until Aia created a hole in the shield. The demigoddess escaped her pursuers from Olympus and quickly moved to the temple to join the ranks of Luella and the demons.

Gaia also assisted the demons as humanoid creatures made of rocks emerged from the ground within the shield and fought the mortals.

The pure demons rushed the gap Aia created and in time, the entire energy shield fell. Phoibos Apollo joined the fight too, shooting the Demons from above with arrows to the chest and depleting their number exponentially until Luella grounded the god of archery and began punishing him.

The sky rumbled and the ground quaked with the arrival of the Dark Majesty, striking fear in the hearts of every man and demon on the battlefield.

Thanatos was the only immortal who dared to stare the forever ruler of Hel in the eyes, and he paid for his defiance with his life.

Sensing the battle lost, Demeter jumped through the eye-shaped portal, escaping to Hel but she wouldn't get very far as the Dark Majesty caught up to her.

"Please, please, please," Demeter pleaded.

"We are past that, it is time you pay the price."

"I didn't want to stop your kind from entering Nym'Roal! Apollo made me do it!" She exclaimed.

"Is that what you think this is about?" The Dark Majesty queried. "If this was merely about demons entering Nym'Roal then we wouldn't be here right now, I would've let you go ..."

"... But you used Cora, a demon who was only starting to learn how to talk to tie my hands into a contract I did not wish to sign!"

"Please ...." Demeter cried.

"And Invidia ... She didn't need to die, did she?"

"I wasn't thinking ... I beg of you, spare me."

"Alastair, Naamah, I know you two are here," the Dark Majesty said.

The siblings stepped out from behind a huge rock. "Apologies," said Alastair. "We didn't mean to eavesdrop."

"Leave."

Back in Nym'Roal, Luella defeated Apollo and sent him back to Olympus but not before giving him a warning message first.

"Run," she said. "As fast as you can, run to Olympus. And tell whoever sits on the throne: the demons have entered Nym'Roal; Xenogenesis has begun." ]
