Hunter started for the room where the drug lord was being held but Ishani suddenly grabbed his arm and stopped him. "I don't think you should be the one questioning him," she said.
"It's either this or I sit around doing nothing. I know which one I'd rather do," said the sprite.
"I wasn't worried about you Hunter," Ishani clarified.
Hunter's eyes locked with hers. "I'm not going to sit around and wait," said the dark-haired boy.
"I'm not asking you to," Ishani replied. "We should go in there together but you should let me take the lead." The teal-green-eyed boy broke the contact. "Fine."
The duo stepped inside the room and Ishani walked up to the drug lord while Hunter leaned on the wall.
'This is pointless! We should be putting all our efforts into finding Aislinn. We aren't even sure if it was the UR army that took her.'
[Every object or person, mystic or non-mystic, has a specific frequency of energy they emit.]
'Why are you telling me this?'
[I can find out exactly where Aislinn is.]
'??? Why haven't you then?'
[It requires a large amount of chaos energy, large enough that even the most average mystic would know someone is using magic.]
'Do it?'
[Are you sure? Every mystic in the area would know you used chaos magic and that means you could get reported to the council of mysticism again. It's up to you but my advice would be to wait and see how Camille's meeting with the general goes before deciding.]
'... Fine.'
"I don't know what that is," Ferb shouted.
"Seriously?" Ishani said, she was holding up her phone in front of the drug lord. "That's you, wearing the very necklace we're looking for."
"Must be Photoshop 'cause I ain't never seen that in my life," he claimed.
Hunter walked towards Ferb and began pacing around him. The drug lord followed the sprite with his head. "What's with him?" He asked the grey-eyed woman.
Ishani looked at the sprite and then back at Ferb. "You don't have to worry about him ... As long as you tell the truth."
"I am telling the truth!" Ferb exclaimed.
Ishani leaned back in her seat and turned to Hunter. "He's all yours," she said.
"Wait! Wait! The necklace is supposed to be shipped to Bronzemark. I left it with some of my men who are to head there with the necklace and a bunch of drugs tonight by 8. It should be at unit 44 of the Stark warehouse," he stated.
"Why Bronzemark?" Ishani asked.
"It's where my old friend Ibrahim's at. We had a falling out over some dumb shit years ago so this is me trying to reconcile. I heard rumors he was looking for some gems that resembled the one on my good luck chain so I sent it to him."
"Is that all?"
"That's all, I swear!"
"It better be ... Because you wouldn't like it if we had to come back here next time to ask you questions."
The duo left the room and Ishani playfully nudged the sprite's shoulders. "Smile, you were perfect."
Hunter exhales and turns to Camille. "We have the location; when do we leave?"
"As soon as you get ready. You, Ishani, Sypha, and Maxine would be on this job," she replied.
.
.
.
Camille walked into a high-end restaurant. She scanned the room with her eyes before her eyes settled on the general who was seated on one side of the nearly full restaurant.
"Ms. Lovelace ... A pleasure," said the general.
"You should've warned me this was a classy party, I didn't even change out of my work clothes," said the red-eyed woman. She was wearing a long-sleeved white shirt, a knee-length blue office skirt, and black heels. Her black hair was split into two parts which she crossed over her head and secured with a headband that formed two thick locks of hair that extended below her chest.
"I told you this was a date," said General Elliott.
"I thought you meant prearranged meeting date and not you know ..." Camille makes a sweeping motion of the surroundings. "... this kind of date."
The general laughs. "I like this about you Camille; you're so laid back, not something one would expect from the usually self-absorbed mystics."
"You think I'm not self-absorbed? Wait till you meet this kid, Hunter, unbelievably relaxed for a kid who's seen more crap than the average mystic."
Elliott smiles. "Please sit," he points to the empty chair in front of him.
Camille takes a seat and a smile appears on the general's face. The black-haired woman raised a perplexed eyebrow. "What?"
"Earlier you mentioned how you would've liked to change into a more classy dress; I think you look beautiful in your work clothes."
"Why thank you," Camille smiles. "As I explained over the phone, I'm a contractor working on behalf of the Alpha Sector," she said.
"Ah yes," the general flagged down a waiter. "I understand you're no longer the director of the Alpha Sector, what happened?"
"I've been the director for so long, I figured it was time for me to move on."
"I can't wait to see what you have planned for the future."
"With the way things are going? Probably retirement. As I mentioned during our call earlier, we've been tracking someone who hacked and stole sensitive files from our archive and we believe that person is in your custody."
"Aislinn, right? Yes, we caught her while she and some of her friends were trying to bust a felon out of jail. We can discuss business later, for now, we should focus on dinner and see where the night leads us."
Camille shakes her head. "I can tell you where it's not headed."
"What?"
"Never mind."
MEANWHILE
"I have eyes on the truck," said Ishani. "It seems they'll be leaving very soon."
"What are we waiting for then?" Hunter said as he rushed into the storage unit.
"Hunter wait!"
The sprite didn't wait. One of the men spotted him and pulled out a firearm and shot several times but the teal-green-eyed boy easily closed the distance between them without sustaining any injuries and knocked him out.
The sound draws another one of Ferb's men but he meets the same fate as the first.
The dark-haired boy heard a gun click behind his head. "Put your hands in the air and slowly get down on your knees."
Before Hunter could react, someone knocks the speaker to the ground. The sprite turned to see Max with a slight frown on her face. "What the hell is wrong with you? You could've gotten hurt or worse!"
"I had it under control," the dark-haired boy replied.
Sypha joined the duo and began searching the scene.
"Um, guys ..." Ishani's voice came through the communication device in their ears. "Several trucks of armed men are headed this way."
Hunter turned and opened the door of the truck, he found the gem lying pretty on top of one of the several boxes in the truck.
"Let's go," said Hunter.
"Just a second," Max said. She walked towards the truck and opened one of the boxes, it was filled with several doses of a colorless liquid. "Oh my," she gasped. "We can't let them keep this," she said.
"What is it?" Sypha asked.
"It's a drug that gives non-mystics powers, it's highly addictive."
"I don't think we can take on these guys without alerting local authorities," warned Ishani.
"Let's call the Bureau, I'm sure they'll know what to do," Sypha suggested.
[Suggest that it be destroyed.]
"What if we destroy it?"
"It can't be destroyed," Max stated.
[It can.]
"... If we use ice," said the sprite.
Maxine hesitates but turns to Sypha. "It wouldn't hurt to try," she said.
"Got it," the elemental nods. Sypha uses cryokinesis to freeze the boxes containing the drugs. The ice suddenly starts to melt and the glass begins to crack.
"That's not good ..."
The trio slowly retreat from the truck. The glasses containing the drugs all break and the colorless liquid mixes with the ice and glows red before turning into a red beam of light that shoots up through the roof to the sky and releases a large, harmless wave of energy around.
"What was that?" Ishani asked. "Why is there a light ray from the sky to the storage unit?"
[That should go away after a while.]
The sound of a police car siren fills the air.
"Cop! Cop!" Ishani warned.
"Mask up!" Max ordered.
The cop jumped out of the car and pulled out her gun. "Freeze!" She said. It was the same dark magenta-haired woman that had arrested the sprite.
Hunter pulled his mask up to cover his face but not before the police woman saw his face first. She recognized him instantly as the man she arrested - Hunter Heffernan.
The sprite stared at the woman defiantly and she pulled the trigger, firing several shots at the dark-haired boy. The bullets hit the teal-green-eyed boy but caused no scratch.
Max quickly grabbed the gun of the man she had knocked out earlier and pointed it at the cop who swiftly took cover behind a truck in the storage unit. "Let's get out of here," said Maxine before she fired a couple of shots in the air.
'You got it?'
[Yes, I know where Aislinn is.]
