"So what class does fiend fall under or are they a class on their own?" Hunter said to the bathroom mirror.
"You do know I'm not in the mirror, right? You could just think about this and I'd give you an answer."
"This seems more convenient," Hunter replied
"At least until someone catches you talking to yourself and thinks you're crazy," the demon replied, "and to answer your question, I have no idea, during my time, we didn't have anything like class or order although if I was to guess, going by a fiend's ability, it should be a class of its own ... I know you people would place it as an order under the dark mystics' class."
"Interesting," Hunter said, "So what you're saying is demons are stronger than fiends?" He asked
"Quite the opposite, fiends are the strongest among users of magic which is funny they are not an order of the class sorcerer although by extension every supernatural being is a magic user ..."
"So she was right then, she is stronger than the three of us combined," Hunter said.
"I doubt it," the demon walks out of the mirror, "that werewolf would best her in a physical combat."
"Really?"
"From the energy I could sense coming from both of them, yes. It's also possible the fiend is hiding her energy so as not to be easily spotted," he shrugged.
"Can you hurry up?!" someone bangs on the bathroom door
"One second!" He shouts back.
...
It was the first day of the study tour and Hunter and his team were assigned to the Adina Forest, a former tourist center now swarmed with darklings.
It was long after the sunset that they left for the forest, in search of the creatures of the dark. "So how does the grading system in this school works?"
"Huh," Zoe said with a falling pitch but doesn't say anything else.
"There are seven grades from Grade A to F and the highest called the S Grade." Martin explained, "The grading office gives students grades based on the ability of the student in class, practice, study tours, and other school events," he added
"What are your grades?" Hunter asked.
"Grade D," Martin replied.
"I'm a Grade B werewolf," Sydney chipped.
"Cool," Hunter said impressed, "I'm still new here so I'm yet to be graded," he explained before turning his face to Zoe who looked bored out of her mind, "What about you?" He asked to no response.
"Okay, that's it!" He exclaimed, turning around to face Zoe, "You think you are so much --"
"Shut up," Zoe raised a finger, "something's coming"
"Don't try to change the topic!" He shouted back,
"She's right, Hunter," Sydney stated, "I can smell a terrible stench coming our way."
Martin raised the index and middle finger on his left hand while forming a fist on his right. He pairs the two hands, his brown eyes turn a deep shade of blue and a circle of runes appears beneath him from which a wolf emerges with the same eye color he now had.
Sydney quickly moves to her fighting stance, her nails extending a little longer as she awaits whatever was fast approaching.
It was quiet at first but then Hunter began to feel it, the creature had a very different energy from any darkling or ghost he's ever seen, and then they began hearing footsteps, a pair at first but the numbers began to double and in no time, they were surrounded by short, ugly, irregular creatures, some having only one leg, some having two and others had three, some with large eyes others with ears there instead.
"What the hell are these?" Hunter said surprised
"Demon spawns," Martin stated.
The creatures rushed towards them making low clucking noises that sounds like laughter. Hunter's fists glow as his yellow energy forms around them.
The battle begins with Martin's wolf charging into the oncoming spawns, tearing them into pieces, Sydney using her claws to cut down the spawns, and Hunter avoiding and punching them with his yellow energy strikes while Zoe leans her shoulder on a tree with her arms crossed.
"A little help here, our guiding hand?" Hunter said
"I can't believe you guys are struggling against low-level demon spawns," she rolled her eyes,
Hunter punched a spawn, "Funny coming from the one not participating in the fight," he said
"Fine," she sighed before she begins to ascend, going up a few meters in the air. She opens her hands wide, emitting a wave of energy that takes out all the spawns, turning them to dust. Zoe raised an eyebrow staring at Hunter, "okay that was badass," he admitted.
A portal suddenly appeared in front of them and a teacher stepped out of the portal, It was Lauren, she had tied her long brownish-blonde hair into a ponytail.
"Ms. Gibbs-White," Sydney politely exclaimed.
"Good, you guys are safe," Lauren let out a sigh of relief, "this place is no longer safe, a pure demon suddenly appeared," she explained, "You three, step into this portal it would take you straight to the suite where you would be given further instructions. Zoe, come with me," she added.
