Chapter 22
Everywhere was quiet, but for the sound of my car moving on the empty tarred road. Occasionally, I kept glancing around to check for sign of life, but there was none. I wanted to doubt if Kyle had intentionally mislead me, but no. He could be a jerk, but he would never betray our friendship, no matter how strained it was.

I wouldn’t be able to live with my self if I lost my Mate after several years of believing I would never have on. I pulled my car to a halt as I arrived at the entrance of a forest. This was how far my car could take me. I parked carefully and climbed down, staring at the forest cautiously. Kyle mentioned a group of people lived here, but he didn’t know the details of who they were. It was only rumors.
