The sound was annoyingly loud but it didn't seem to affect L at all. He stood in the ominous staircase surrounded by sounds of wailing and wirthing monsters.
L glanced at each one of them before his eyes landed on Wen. Wen was also crumbled to the floor, holding his head as if trying to keep it from burst from overstimulation and it had L questioning why Wen was reacting as well.
The sound had been similar to a dog whistle. To L's ears, it sounded like a high-pitched buzz similar to a bee. But the way Wen reacted to the sound made him question a few things about the man.
Such as, how could he hear it in the first place?
L pushed back his suspicions and looked at Alishka next. The monster's eyes were glowing yellow and it sounded as if they were reading something with the way their eyes darted around the room.
Maybe that sound was a message, a signal?
L averted his eyes to Ethan, the small man had tightened his grip around L and shut his eyes tight when the sound entered his ears. His brows were laced with stress and L subconciously patted the unconcious mans head.
It was as if the headpat relieved some of the pain Ethan was feeling in his head as his eyebrows relaxed a little. L sighed before his eyes were met with glowing yellow eyes looking in his direction. It sent chills through his body.
Alishka was staring at him with wide beady eyes. It's mouth began to drool uncontrollably and it's throat bobbed with every swallow. They seen the way L shivered when their eye's met and it made the creature want to smile and so it did. A nice toothy smile that made the monsters eye's curve into cresents. L's face distorted in disgust as he watched the creatures mouth upturn.
Alishka continued to stare at the man as they stood up and walked closer. The sounds. They were telling them many things. It was order and they would not refuse.
L stepped backwards up the stairs. His heart was beating extremely fast and he wondered if the monster infront of him could hear how nervous he was. It wouldn't be suprizing.
"You smell delicious, you know?" Alishka got closer as the sounds continued to chant in their mind.
"Thanks?" L swallowed the lump that had built up in his throat. He had stepped all the way back into a wall. He was cornered.
Alishka's smile got wider, revealing the many teeth that had been stained with the many humans it had eatten, a reminder of just how disgusting it was to be eatten by one of these monsters. To die in such an unsanitary way.
L couldn't even say anything because he was basically covered head to toe in anothers blood, a dead persons blood, but this was a completely different story. He couldn't take his eyes off the sharp yellow teeth and couldn't help the cringe that forced it's way into his features.
pAk-
The monsters head aggressively ducked just as it was about to lunge, causing L to tense up and shut his eyes. Seeing as nothing happened, he reluctantly opened his eye's to see Wen holding a metal bar and the monster ducked over itself.
L let out a ghost of relieve before questioning the man. "Where did you get that from?"
Wen pointed to the stairs railing and saw that a chunk had been ripped out of it. L looked Wen up and down in pure horror. "What type of monster-" He gave Wen the look that said 'Your like the people who would break toilet seats in the bathroom, right?'
Alishka rubbed the back of their head before standing up straight. They looked at Wen with an accusing face on, "That hurt!"
"You were going to hurt Labcoat!"
"N-no I wasn't!" Alishka frowned and looked away.
"Oh really?" Wen's lips pursed as he nodded.
Alishka frowned. "I was under the infulence of the sound-"
"The sound stopped..." Wen frowned. Then L noticed it too, the sound did stop, drawing a sound of acknowledgement to come from of L's parted lips.
"What was that sound anyway?" L questioned.
"It's the way we communicate to each other. It makes all of us in the area react to it." Alishka scratched their nape with sharp black nails.
L looked at Wen with raised eyebrows. Wen could see the accusation and was quick to defend himself, lightly hitting L on the shoulder with the pole, "Hey, I'm not a monster!"
Seeing L avert his eyes, Wen kept defending himself. "I'm just sensitive to loud sounds, ok!"
L nodded yet it still didn't look as if he believed Wen, causing the shorter one to pout.
Sounds of metal dragging on the floor could be heard upstairs and the group got serious once more.
They tensed as they looked up the stairs where the sharp sounds of scraping metal got farther from their direction and the group let out a collective breath of relief.
"What was that sound for?"
"Could be creating a trap." Wen answered L's question with his creative imagination making the man throw him a side glance with a frown.
"Possibly." Alishka spoke up with their rough voice disturbing the calm of the room.
"Well if it truly is a trap..." L adjusted his hold on Ethan. Ethan has been uncouncious since the sound rang through the room. "Then lets avoid it. But it sounds more like the door was ripped off it's hinges."
"I mean it was just a guess..." Wen said while playing with torn peices of his clothes.
"On a level of 1 to 10 how do you rate your pain?" L nodded his head towards the mans side after seeing the gesture.
"En, a good 8." Wen said. He wasn't lying. It hurt alot but the pain felt distant to him. It was like he wasn't the one who got injured, he could just feel it in his body.
Alishka held out their arms. "Let me carry you."
Wen glanced at L as if asking for the mans permission. L just shrugged and turned away, seeming to say that he didn't care. Wen spoke up, "Don't you hate them?"
"I have a na-"
"It doesn't matter if I hate them or not because they still wouldn't leave, would they?"
Alishka's face grew dark as he was witnessing the two talk about them as if they weren't there. "My name is Alishka. It's a delight to meet you... Labcoat?"
Wen wheezed and looked at L's face to see his reaction. L didn't reaspond and the disappointment grew evident on Wen's face. "Anyway, I don't need anyone to help me walk. I'm fine."
"If it gets any worst I'm going to leave you here to die." The man clicked his tounge.
Wen turned around and went to Alishka. "You're so heartless!"
"Yeah, I know...." L sighed as he looked down the staircase. "But aside from that, I think I know a way we can get out..."
