Wen gasped dramatically before coughing up a storm. L didn't know what to do, if he put the mans back to help him cough, then he might hurt him, so he just stood, awkwardly watching. Wen panted, patting his chest after he finished coughing, every cough had left a pang of pain pulsing in him, "Wow, I think I took to much air in my lungs."
Alishka really wanted to die. Why was the person they rescued so... so, they didn't even have the words to describe such a person! With a sigh, they turned to Labcoat who seemed to be in a rather awkward position of wanting to help but also not. "So, whats the plan?"
L sighed, diverting his attention from Wen at the question. He had a determined glint in his eye's, "We run..."
Both Alishka and Wen's face darkened when they heard L's plan. There is no way in hell they were going to escape this place by running! Is this the best the smartest of them could think of! They were so dead.
"That's why Alishka is going to carry you. There's a few doors that lead to fire escapes which we can escape through. I almost forgot they existed. If we run into a monster, don't try to attack it unless you have no where to run, just try to escape." L paused. "Oh and the fire escape is pretty tiny though, so, Alishka might not fit and we'd have to go one at a time."
"Well fu*k you, too!" Alishka turned away with a pout. It was clear they didn't agree to this plan. "It's way too reckless!"
"Do you have a better idea?"
"..."
"Exactly." L nodded curtly and opened the nearest door, the door to floor 3. Three floors in below the floor Wen's room is. He peeked out before motioning the others to follow.
Wen got on Alishka's back and they followed L out.
The hallway was dark and quiet with the exception of a squeak here and there. Wen figured it was from mice. They passed door after door and every single time, Wen would crane his neck just to get a glimpse of what was behind those, most likely locked, doors.
Most of them weren't rooms one could rest in, it was more like a disscussion room, with a long table and a few chairs sprawled about. Some were private lab rooms. "Labcoat... Why are there no sleeping rooms here."
"Its past the double doors." L motioned his head over to a pair of doors them and Wen looked. There was two heavy looking doors with small circle windows at the end of the hall. It was clear that the hallway continued beyond those doors. "Oh."
The group went into silence again. It was quiet boring and the fatigue that was biulding up inside Wen after all the adrenaline was causing him to feel sleepy. It was especially so with the calm steady beat of Alishka's walking. He yawned before burying his head in Alishka's neck before falling asleep.
A few sounds came from behind them and they all turned to look at the staircase they had come from. The dark hallway was making it hard to see in the distance but they could feel someone watching them. L shivered, "Lets just get out of here."
Alishka nodded, glancing back.
They had walked for a little while more and L noticed that the walls were cracking. It was small cracks, barely noticable unless you looked closely enough. He hummed and noted it in his mind.
"How far is this thing? Shouldn't it be accessable?" Alishka questioned, looking bored out of their mind.
"They tried their best." L responded. He couldn't say anything because he also agreed with Alishka, why was there so little escape routs!?! "There is one at each end of the halls. You'll know when you see it."
"Is that it." Alishka pointed to a door that had the red words "Exit" written on it and a fire mark under it.
"Yes..." L walked up to it after putting Ethan down and started messing with some wires on the side. Seeing the questioning look Alishka gave him, he spoke again, "There's an alarm attached to it."
"Oh..." Alishka blinked their yellow eyes. "You know alot."
"En."
"So..." Alishka watched L pull out the knife attached to his leg and cleared their throat. "The weather, right..."
"Shut up." L shushed them.
Alishka pouted. "You're so mean to me!"
"Aiyah, I'm trying to focus, stop taking everything personally!" L dropped his hand and looked at Alishka with a face full of disdain. "But you're right, I don't trust you. You're a fu*king monster who just magically changed the fact that they wanted to kill us. Why would I trust you?"
Alishka shut up after that. He wasn't wrong, Alishka probably came out seeming really sus to the group. It made sense for L to be on edge around him.
"Ah..." Alishka let out. L turned back and disconnected the alarm from the door before picking Ethan up and pushing it open. "Let's go."
They both walked into the fire escape, Alishka had to crawl because the ceiling was really too short here. It was like it was biuld by short people, for short people. They wanted to scream discrimination. L was also struggling too, he was pretty tall and so he had to duck to get through.
The silence was stiff around the group. Everyonce in a while, Wen would make a light snoring sound, relieving the room from the silence before it came back. "Ow-" Alishka's back cracked. "This place is for dwarfs!"
L raised an eye brow at that. "Hm, no, I think you're just too tall."
"Ah. I can't help it-" The voice trailed off leaving L to question why they stopped. He turned around to see Alishka's eyes glowing vibrant yellow.
"C'mon, not right now..." L went over and waved his hand infront of the creatures face but they didn't respond. "Hey, you. Creature. Alishka."
Alishka blinked and their eyes reverted back to the pale yellow. "Somethings coming."
"Wha-" L's words were cut off by a harsh blast. A sound that almost made his eardrums burst. Dust rose, making L cough and wave his hand in the air to clear it.
They both turned to see multiple pale hands enter through the hole in the ceiling. Stretched out like a spider and feeling the air and around the room.
Monoo was back.
