Leonel POV
Clare's hand tightened over me as I tried to move off the bed and I couldn't help the weight that lifted off of my chest as she did.
A part of me had been so worried that when the sun rose, the events of last night would be long forgotten, and I wasn't sure how I was going to go back to the way we were before. I'm not sure that I could.
And yet, here she was, still clinging on to me…and in front of John no less. It was more than I could ever dream for. The reassurance was truly all I needed.
Normally, seeing John would enrage me, but laying there with her was curbing my desire to punch his face in. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't stop if I knew Clare would forgive me.
But I didn't want to test that, or our new progress.
I grabbed Clare's hand from around me and pulled it up to my mouth, kissing it gently on the back. Then I looked straight into her eyes.
