Chapter 123 - ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-THREE

DYLAN'S POV

Pete, Arianna and myself were watching a movie in the theatre at Pete's home. Pete and I had watched an action movie for close to half an hour before Arianna, claiming to be passing by, joined us and asked us to change our movie. We were now watching some soapy movie about a woman who falls in love with her lecturer...or something like that. It was so cold that I was beginning to fall asleep when my phone rang.

"Hey my sweet…" I began to talk but from the other end, Anisha spoke out loudly.

"Dylan! Amelia is my mother! She is my mother, Dylan! She threw me away! She did not want me….she left me to be eaten by ants…..she hates me, Dylan!!..." It sounded as if she was running, and she was breathing heavily. I immediately sat up in my seat and held my phone very close to my ears.

"Anisha calm down, what are you saying? Anisha!" I asked her, yet there was no response.

From the sounds that I was hearing, it seemed like Anisha was being chased, for I could hear voices calling out, although I failed to pick what they were saying. There was another sound which I guessed to be rain.

"Anisha!" I called her again, and there was still no response. In panic and fear, I stood on my feet. Pete and Arianna stood near me, eager to know what was happening. I could still hear the sounds. The rain. The heavy panting …and then I heard something else. The sound of a car screeching and a horn sounded continuously before I heard a loud thud.

"Anishaaaaa!" I thought I heard a voice calling before the line went dead.

"Anisha!!" I called out in confusion.

"What is it?" Pete asked.

"What happened?" Arianna also asked.

"Anisha must be in some kind of trouble."

"Did she say what the problem is?" Arianna was holding my hand.

"I don't know what it is. It sounded as if she was running, and I am sure a car heat her." I explained.

"Get in touch with someone, Dylan! Call someone to check on her. Or better still, don't you have Ms Meyerton' number? Or Valentina?"

The moment Pete mentioned Valentina, my phone buzzed and on checking, I saw an unknown number, I quickly answered it and Valentina's loud voice yelled right into my ear:

"Dylan! Anisha has been hit by a car! She is unconscious! I don't know if she is alive, Dylan! We've called for an ambulance." She cried profusely.

"Where are you? What happened?"

"It's a long story." She said in between her hysterical cries.

"Is Ms Meyerton with you as well?" I asked.

"I am with Carter. Carter is our old friend from the home."

"Please get her to Whyte Silver Rays Medical Centre. I'll be there soon."

"White Silver Rays? We can't afford that!" Valentina said as her crying got out of control.

"That's the best hospital in Hallowcave, Valentina! Take her there, I am calling someone right away so that she can be attended to there." I demanded.

Instead of answering, I heard Valentina sobbing from the other end of the call. "Hand over the phone to that friend of yours, please."

"Hello?" a male voice came through.

"Hello. I am Dylan de Milo. Is Anisha too bad? What happened?"

"My name is Carter. She's not looking good. We're still waiting for an ambulance."

"Listen Carter, take her to Whyte Silver Rays Medical Centre. Go there and let her be attended to. I am talking to them right away. See Joey; I'm sending you his contacts right away. He will help with Anisha's admission."

"Ok. I'm on it."

Joey was our good friend, Pete and I. He is the one who earlier on brought us an antidote after

Anisha was drugged during the handover dinner. He had been transferred to work in Hallowcave, at Whyte Silver Medical Centre.

Quickly I sent over Joey's contact details and I immediately called Joey to inform him that Anisha was on her way to the medical centre. I instructed the administration staff about the incoming patient, and gave a strict order that she was to be treated with utmost urgency and care.

I instantly dialed Chris's number, "Chris, tell the pilot I am flying to Hallowcave now." I did not wait for his response, I walking towards my car.

"Let me go with you!" Pete called out after me.

"But you have the medical conference tomorrow, Pete. Let me handle this," I said.

"I'm coming with you! I need to be with you at this moment!" Pete said as he too ran towards his bedroom, probably to collect his passport or something.

" I want to come too!" Arianna chimed in.

"No Arianna! I can't take you along without mum and dad's approval."

"I'm an adult! I'm coming!" she demanded.

"Arianna please, I said no."

"I am coming with you, Dylan!" she jumped into the back seat. I was busy fastening the seat belt when Pete said,

"Let me drive, you're not in a condition to drive. What happened to her? What did Valentina say?"

Arianna insisted on coming with us, but I did not feel comfortable with it. Considering that my parents were not aware; and worse still, my mum and I were not on talking terms; how could I have brought along Arianna with me?

"I am coming with you!" she stated firmly.

"You don't even have your passport; do you?"

"Luckily I happened to have it with me today. I was using it for some stuff; some forms I was filling in today." She waved the passport at me.

We were already at my house. Turning to Arianna, I told her firmly, "Arianna please try to understand. I totally appreciate your support, but let me do this. Pete, you too can stay. Please take Arianna home. Let me do this for now. Chris will go with me."

"Friend, will you be fine?" Pete asked in doubt.

"I will be fine. You have that huge conference to attend tomorrow. I appreciate you but…"

"I am coming, Dylan!" Pete said with finality. "I can always fly back in time for the conference."

"No Pete. You've worked too hard organizing that event. You have to attend." I did not bend in to Pete's persuasion.

Chris was on top of his game, for everything was set and ready for the trip. Mrs Silva had packed a small bag for me, and she was extremely worried about Anisha.

"What happened to miss Anisha? Who attacked her?" I told her I had no answers at that moment. Without saying anything more, we left. It was only Chris and I. In the end Pete and Arianna stayed behind.
