Chapter 16 - SIXTEEN

ANISHA'S POV

When I got out, I saw on the right side a chapel, and on the left side a string of other wards. I chose to go towards the chapel. I ran very fast and went towards a direction which helped me to easily evade the gate. At the gate I could see a guard who seemed to be engrossed in a game or whatever it was that he was looking at on his phone screen. Although the guard was busy with his phone, I figured it was still dangerous for me to pass anywhere near him, so I started running following the hospital walls. I soon came to a gate written "Entrance for staff only". No security guard was stationed there, although a chair signified that there should have been a guard. Swiftly I exited the hospital grounds.

I ran as fast as I could, towards what seemed to be a residential area. Soon I saw a big building with doors wide open. Peeping inside, I saw a few people training. It was a gym. I went around and saw a number of restrooms and I entered into the ladies room. Locking myself in one of the cubicles, I quickly and carefully checked if Liam was well, and I rang Eden's number.

"Anisha?" he answered.

"I am in a deep fix. I am stuck inside a toilet of a gym near a hospital. The child is seriously sick. If you don't help me now, I am doomed!" I cried in huge sobs.

"The child is sick? Keep him alive!! I am in the area. I am coming!"

How on earth was I supposed to keep the child alive? I closed the toilet and sat on top of it, holding Liam close to me.

"Hold on, Liam. Hold on, you will be fine", I started to cry some more.

The bathroom door opened and I heard footsteps, resulting in me suppressing my sobs. Two women were chatting.

"What's with the sirens? Do you hear those loud sirens?" one of the ladies asked.

"They're coming from the hospital. I wonder what has happened. Maybe a patient ran away?" one of the ladies laughed.

"I don't think so. That place is well guarded."

"It used to be well guarded, but not any more," the other lady responded.

The ladies proceeded to chat, used the restrooms and then they left. Just as they left, the door was opened again and I heard Eden's voice, "Anisha?"

"I'm here", I stood up and opened the cubicle. My heart leapt with joy. It was like my misery had lasted over a century, and finally, my savior was here for me.

However when I saw the man standing in front of me, I immediately slammed the door shut in great fear. Standing before me was a man who could not have been Eden. Although the voice was definitely his, there was no way the person could have been Eden. The Eden I knew had pitch black eyes and hair. He had a beard, and very thick black brows. He also had a huge scar which ran from his left temple to his collar bone. The man who stood at the bathroom door had none of that. In addition to being bald, he had no beard and even if I were to assume that Eden had shaved off his beard, I could neither explain how his eyes had turned blue nor how the scar had suddenly disappeared leaving no mark at all?

"Who are you, who are you?" I screamed.

"Anisha we don't have time, come out!" the voice was indeed Eden's.

"Eden, is that really you?" I wanted confirmation.

"Open that door it's me! Let's go!"

"You…you look different…." I stammered.

"I will explain, let's go!"

With that I hesitantly opened the door, and the man swiftly came to me, took the child from my arms and marched out while I followed closely behind him. A car was waiting outside. We got in and the driver drove off. Eden was holding the baby and I sat with my head bowed low as I cried my heart out. I felt the tears as they kept flowing, not knowing whether Eden was really going to help me out or not; and also asking God how and why I had ended up in such a messy situation. Eden did not say anything to me during the drive; neither did I utter any word to him.

After a long drive, the car stopped.

"How did you get to the hospital?" Eden asked me.

"I called an ambulance" I told him.

"It means you can't go back home. Once news spread that a lady ran away from the hospital, they can track you back to where the ambulance picked you up from. Terror, let's get to the warehouse now."

"Yes boss", the man who was driving nodded and started the car again.

"What exactly is happening?" I asked Eden. He did not respond.

Then after a while Eden spoke, "Evangelista has been taken. But I will find her."

"Taken? By who?" the driver asked in shock.

"No information for now", Eden said.

There was silence again, until I told him, "Eden, Liam is sick. If he does not get medical attention, we might lose him". I began to cry.

"Don't cry. We have a doctor at the warehouse."

"Warehouse? What warehouse? What exactly is going on, Eden?"

"The less you talk, the better. I have bigger problems." Eden snapped at me. Too many questions were popping in my mind, and I feared to ask anything. I just allowed my mind to wonder, who is this man? His sister said his name is Israel. Is he a good man…did I just make a mistake by not reporting everything to the police? How did he happen to be at the la Martinas' house just in time to save me? And now he's taking us to a warehouse? What have I done? I should have reported this matter to the police!

"Which bastard is brave enough to kidnap my own Evangelista! Have I become too old for this game? Have I lost my stamina?" Eden asked angrily, punching furiously at the back of the seat in front of him. He punched and moved so hard that I feared he was going to drop Liam.

"You're young and able, boss", the driver answered.

Instead of responding, Eden hit the car seat with punches, showing great anger. When I saw how angry Eden was, I decided not to say a word. Who knew that Eden was capable of getting that much angry? To me, he was a housemate who was just very quiet, minding his business all the time. He hardly ever spoke to us, Valentina and myself. We both thought he was really cool. We had no issues with him at all.

The car continued to drive along the quiet road. Despite being in a scary situation, I could not help but admire the city of Yellowleaf. The mountains were very beautiful, and there was lots of vegetation. Everything was green and beautiful. Some trees had lovely flowers, some had yellow leaves too. Maybe that's why they named this city Yellowleaf.

"Where are we going?" I asked again.

"We're going to the warehouse where Terror works. He needs to pick something up, then I will take you with me to clear our names at the police." Eden explained.

"Are…are you sure?" I asked.

"Of course I am sure."

Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep. I must have slept for a long time, yet when I woke up, the car was still moving. It soon came to a deserted industrial area and drove until it came to a stop in front of an old building which looked like it would collapse at any time.

With Eden leading the way, we all followed behind, and we were led through many rooms and passages until we came to a metal door which Eden opened. The room was empty, but there was yet another huge metal door, which Terror opened. I shivered from both the cold and fear. What did they want? What if they all planned to rape me?

"I won't move until you tell me where we are going!" I braved up and uttered these words.

None of them responded. Eden pushed me inside the room, which was much smaller than the first one. Save for the air vents high up near the ceiling, the room had no windows or any other form of opening to allow for ventilation. It was as good as empty. An old couch and a wooden chair were positioned right in the middle of the room, and on the floor sat two men, both of them blindfolded. They lifted their heads with their faces in our direction, and I just stared blankly at them. It immediately dawned on me; clearly, that I has just been kidnapped.

Retreating backwards in fear, I stammered, "a..are you kidnapping me? Who are you? Who exactly are you, Eden?" Eden came closer to me and I folded my hands tightly on my chest.

"Scared?" he mocked.

"Please don't harm me. Eden, what do you need? I don't have any money." I tried hard to plead with the man who stared mercilessly at me. Eden merely pushed me to the old couch and I fell on my back. What? Did he…could he…what? Rape?

"No! No please don't…"

"Don't what!" he asked impulsively. "You think I would rape you? While I'm holding a child in my hands? I don't rape women. That's too low for me. I can get any woman I want. Silly!"

He literally threw Liam into my arms, and I held him tight.

"Remove those blindfolds, Terror!" Eden gave the instruction on his way out. He closed the door firmly behind him, making the room very dark, but I could still make out the faces of the people inside. Terror pulled the blindfolds and marched out without saying a word. Both men's hands were tied to their backs, and they looked really stressed out.
