Chapter 60 - Family problems

"Look Chloé, this is the last time I want to see you in this kitchen late at night." Love told her, "Really sorry Ma." She grabbed her juice box and ran upstairs. Love sighed shaking her head as she closed the fridge. She grabbed a glass and poured herself water until she noticed that Davian's office room light was still on. "Oh, dear." She sighed as she walked up to the room.

She knocked on the open door staring at her husband who was actively typing on his computer. His hands were moving faster than Flash could ever.

"Chloé I told you to go to sleep, you wouldn't like it if your mom found you down here." He said his eyes still focused on the computer screen. "My poor darling, at this rate you're going to kill yourself." She said as she walked in and handed him a glass of water. "Why aren't you asleep yet?" He asked, "I should be the one asking you that. I mean look at this." She said pointing out the messy room filled with papers and binders. "Well I still have a lot of work to do so, you can sleep without me tonight." He told her. Love slowly sat on his lap wrapping her arms around his neck. "You know I get lonely sleeping alone every night knowing that I have a husband that can be next to me." She told him, "I'm sorry, you know with the new branch opening up I've been occupied." He apologized stroking her cheek.

"Can you for once forget about work and some sleep." She told him, "As much I would love that, but I can't. I have to finish this statement by tonight." He said, "Ugh!" She sighed as she got off him and fixed her night dress. "Just don't fall asleep down here, it's cold." She kissed his forehead. She smiled at him and walked out to let him continue his work.

Davian looked over at his computer and sighed. He suddenly closed the computer down and turned off the lights and followed Love upstairs.

In the room:

"I'm sorry for leaving you alone in bed." He said to her, his fingers gently tracing patterns on her back. Love shifted closer, resting her head against his chest. "It's okay, but I worry that you work yourself too hard." She stated

Davian tightened his embrace around Love, his fingers continuing their soothing motion on her back. He took a deep breath before responding, his voice sincere.

"Let's take the kids to the park and have a little picnic." "We'll have a little family fun day."

Love looked up at Davian, a soft smile forming on her lips. His suggestion warmed her heart, and she nodded in agreement.

"That sounds like a wonderful idea," she replied, her eyes shining with excitement. "A day at the park with the kids, just enjoying each other's company and having a picnic."

Davian's grip on her tightened as he leaned down to press a gentle kiss to her forehead. "I want us to make more memories together, Love. I've been too caught up in work, and it's time to change that."

Love reached up to cup his cheek, her touch tender and reassuring. "I'm so glad you're willing to prioritize us. Our family is the most important thing to me."

He smiled down at her, his gaze filled with affection. "I've realized that too, Love. I want to be present for every moment, not just physically, but emotionally as well."

Love shifted to look into his eyes, a soft expression on her face. "I've missed us, Davian. I've missed those simple moments where we can just enjoy each other's company without any distractions."

Davian's fingers continued their soothing movements on her back. "Tomorrow, we'll make it happen. A picnic, laughter, and quality time with the kids."

As they lay there, wrapped in each other's arms, Love felt a renewed sense of hope and happiness. Davian's willingness to change meant everything to her, and she knew that their family day at the park would mark the beginning of a beautiful journey of reconnection and love.

That same evening.

"I told you already it's nothing." Sammy said as he sat down on the bed, "So then why would she show up in front of my house and embarrass me in front of my kids?!" Lilly exclaimed. "You're making a big deal out of nothing." He remarked, "Right, I'm the one who's been dramatic about your ex-wife coming to my home and embarrassing me in front of my kids." "Be honest with me Sam, are you doing something with Destiny behind my back?" She asked, "What makes you say that?" "Because why would she suddenly appear out of nowhere?!" She stated

Lilly's frustration was palpable, her eyes fixed on Sammy, searching for any signs of deception. Sammy let out a sigh, running a hand through his hair as he contemplated his response.

"Lilly, I promise you, nothing is going on between me and Destiny," he said earnestly. "I have no idea why she would show up at our house, and I'm just as baffled as you are."

"When she contacted me a few months ago I didn't think much of it since it was related to work, I told her that we have our own lives now and she needs to move on."

Lilly's eyes widened, her anger turning into disbelief. "You kept this from me? You were in contact with her?"

Sammy threw his hands up in frustration. "I didn't think it was a big deal! I thought I was handling it."

Lilly shook her head, hurt and anger mixing. "Sam, you should've talked to me about this. Instead, you let her show up at our house and blindside me."

Sammy's frustration faded, replaced by a sense of regret. "I messed up, okay? I should've told you. But you need to believe me when I say there's nothing more between us." He told her

Lilly's anger began to wane, replaced by a mixture of hurt and uncertainty. She looked away, her thoughts racing. "I want to believe you, Sam, but this whole situation is just so strange. Why would she choose now to come back into our lives?"

Sammy reached out, gently placing his hand on Lilly's shoulder, hoping to reassure her. "I understand how you feel, Lilly. But you have to trust me. I've always been honest with you, and I won't let anything come between us."

Lilly sighed, leaning into Sammy's touch. "I want to trust you, Sam. It's just hard when I'm feeling so vulnerable and protective of our family."
