"Lucas, food is ready!" Yup, that's my mom famous actor/singer Love Lefevre. The most loved celebrity of all time, and I am her one and only son. I was the oldest of three kids, I have two little sisters and you can say they are basically like her. But I on the other hand people say I'm more like Dad, I have a cold personality. But to be honest I don't have a cold personality neither does my dad, if we're cold towards you it means we don't like you so don't we act like that with everyone we come pass by?
"Coming!" I replied as I grabbed my bag and phone off the table and headed downstairs.
"Hyung did you hear Liam is coming back!" Chloé blurted out, I froze for a second and everything went blank. "Oh yeah, Ari called last night and said that they will be back this week." Mom added as she sat next to Dad. "Are you excited hyung?" Chloé asked, from the sudden news I had no words to say. Everything from the past just came flowing into my head and now my head was so foggy that I couldn't think of anything. "I'm full, I'll head out first," I said as I dropped my fork and walked away from the table. "But you didn't even touch your food!" Mom exclaimed as I walked out.
As I left the dining room, I ran to the car and sat there with my hands covering my face. I needed to clear my head, a quiet place where I could gather my thoughts and emotions. Liam. The name echoed in my mind, triggering a flood of memories. We had been best friends since childhood, inseparable through thick and thin. Our laughter filled the air as we explored the neighborhood, pulling pranks and dreaming about our futures. But as we grew older, things changed.
Things that weren't supposed to happen, happened, feelings we weren't supposed to have were there and they were growing stronger day by day. But when he left we decided to lose contact and forget everything, and now, after all these years, he was coming back. The news hit me like a tidal wave, threatening to pull me under. I didn't know how to feel or what to say. The thought of facing him, seeing his familiar face after all this time, scared me. Would things be the same? Could we pick up where we left off or had too much time passed?
Later on in the car while driving to school:
I could tell Chloé's eyes were on me the whole ride to school, I could tell she wanted to say something so bad but she couldn't because of what just happened. "Look hyung, I'm very sorry for reminding you but I had to tell you before he came back!" She exclaimed her words like she was flashed. I understand She had no bad intentions in mentioning his return but I would have liked to not know.
When I got to school Evelyn was waiting for me at our usual spot so we could walk to class together. Evelyn was my best friend, since our moms grew up together and they were also best friends we also ended up growing up together and becoming best friends. Evelyn was like a few months younger then since her mom and dad were on and off a lot it took a while for her to get born.
"Finally you here, it took you long enough." She said as I walked up to her, "Look this morning didn't go as planned so please I already have a lot of things going through my head." I told her, "They told you huh?" She asked, "Yes they did now I don't know what to do!" I exclaimed, "I think you overreacting Lucas, it's been years now don't you think Liam had forgotten everything." She remarked. Maybe she was right, it's been almost 3 years since everything happened so maybe I had nothing to worry about. "Just be excited you get to see him once again.
I took a deep breath and tried to absorb Evelyn's words of encouragement. She was always the voice of reason, grounding me when my thoughts spiraled out of control. Maybe she was right. Maybe it was time to let go of my worries and embrace the opportunity to reconnect with Liam.
"You're right, Evelyn," I replied, a glimmer of excitement creeping into my voice. "I shouldn't let fear hold me back. It's time to embrace the chance to see Liam again and see where our friendship takes us."
Evelyn smiled, her eyes filled with support and understanding. "That's the spirit, Lucas! I knew you'd come around. Just remember, we're here for you no matter what happens."
I nodded, grateful for her unwavering support. We walked side by side toward our first class, a mixture of anticipation and nerves filling the air around us. Thoughts raced through my mind as I considered all the possibilities and scenarios that awaited me when Liam returned.
As the day progressed a unusual feeling kept lingering in my heart. The nervousness was building all up inside me, the thought of seeing him made me so scared that I couldn't even concentrate.
Finally, the bell rang, signaling the end of the day. Students rushed out of classrooms, their voices blending into a cacophony of chatter and laughter. As I and Evelyn walked towards the exit hand in hand she froze for a second and I questioned why. But when I saw who she was looking at my heart dropped, it was Liam and Helena standing by the entrance. "OMG, Liam and Helena!" She rejoiced as she ran up to them and left me standing alone.
My heart skipped a beat as Liam's gaze met mine. The world around us seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of us at that moment. His captivating smile illuminated his face, reminding me of the countless memories we shared, the laughter and adventures we had once embarked upon together.
I felt a familiar warmth spreading through my chest as his eyes, a vibrant shade of emerald blue, met my gaze. It was as if time had stood still, and for that fleeting moment, all the uncertainties and worries melted away. In his eyes, I saw the same spark of love that had fueled our bond in the past.
Unable to contain my own emotions, I walked over to Liam, the gap between us closing. The air crackled with anticipation, and I could sense the unspoken words hanging between us. It was a mixture of excitement, nostalgia, and the possibility of rekindling our friendship.
"Liam," I said, my voice filled with a mix of joy and relief. "It's really good to see you again."
His smile widened, revealing a dimple on his left cheek, a feature I had almost forgotten. "Lucas, the feeling is mutual," he replied, his voice carrying a warmth that mirrored the happiness in his eyes.
We stood there for a moment, lost in the flood of emotions and unspoken words that hung in the air. It was a reunion that had been years in the making, a chance to bridge the gap that had kept us apart. But at that moment, it felt as though time had folded back on itself, and we were just two friends, reunited once more.
Evelyn and Helena, who had been standing by my side, nudged me gently with her elbow, breaking the spell. "Well, don't just stand there," she teased, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. "Give the guy a hug!"
Her words broke the tension, and laughter bubbled up within me. Closing the remaining distance between us, Liam embraced me in a tight hug, feeling the familiarity of his presence and the rush of emotions that accompanied it. It was a hug that symbolized years of missed opportunities, but also the hope of creating new memories together.
As we pulled apart, our smiles mirrored one another's. Liam's eyes sparkled with excitement, and I knew that our reunion was just the beginning. There was much to catch up on, stories to share, and adventures to embark upon once again.
With Liam's return, a new chapter unfolded in our lives. We had grown individually, but the bond of friendship that had once united us remained intact. As we walked away from the school, our laughter resonating through the air, I felt a sense of gratitude for the unexpected twists and turns that life had thrown our way. For it was those very moments that made reunions like this so incredibly sweet.
