Chapter 283 - Battle in Site-17(4)

At the same time, Donna and those she was carrying on her shoulders and arms fled down a corridor from the unhinged Mommy Long Legs chasing them.

"Why is she acting like this?!" Abby asked.

"I'm pretty sure she's just going through a phase," Angie replied.

"I'LL DEVOUR YOUR INSIDES UNLESS YOU GIVE ABBY BACK!" Mommy Long Legs roared as she continued to sprint towards them.

"...Or not."

At that moment, Donna spotted a door and shouldered it open, revealing the cafeteria where Miranda and 682 were battling each other.

"We ran in circles?!" Donna exclaimed and was about to turn back, only to see Mommy Long Legs leap towards her, but Miranda crashed into Mommy Long Legs by 682.

Seeing Abby in Donna's arms, 682 roared, "Give Abby. NOW!"

Suddenly, Mommy Long Legs used her elastic arms to wrap around his jaws, forcefully pulling them apart and breaking his jaw. Donna seized the moment, spraying a hallucination-inducing powder from the slits in her palms into 682's mouth. He coughed and began to hallucinate, haunted by visions from his past.

Taking advantage of his disorientation, Miranda uppercut his head into the ceiling, then slashed his throat with her claws. As 682 struggled to free his head and heal his wounds, blood poured from his injuries.

Panting her breath, Mommy Long Legs looked at Miranda and Donna. "Temporary truce to kill him?"

Both women, also breathless, nodded in agreement.

"Accepted."

As 682 freed his head from the ceiling, he charged at the three of them. Meanwhile, 999, Josie, and Abby hid under a table and watched the fight from a safe distance.

———————————————————

Back with Revenant, Molly and Amelia, the robot himself continued dodging the laser beam that Bad Moon Rising fired which was still bouncing from star to star.

"Anytime now, Buck!" Molly shouted.

"He hasn't made a mistake yet!"

Growing frustrated, Revenant shouted, "Oh, fuck this!"

He leaped into the air and threw his axe at Molly, but at the same time, Bad Moon Rising summoned a crescent moon in her palm and threw it at the axe. The collision created a shockwave that sent the stars flying as the axe and crescent moon clashed while suspended in mid-air.

Landing back on the ground, Revenant sneered, "I admire your strategy, but it's futile."

"Damn it," Amelia cursed.

"Why work with the Forsaken?!" Molly demanded.

"The people who put me in the Apex Games in the first place made a contract with the Forsaken," Revenant replied. "I won't specify its details, but it involves me getting involved in this war and completing the Forsaken's jobs. One of them is killing you both."

Bad Moon Rising extended her hand, recalling the crescent moon, and Revenant retrieved his axe. As they got their respective weapons back, their weapons clashed again as they swung at each other.

"And it involves seeing the cat break psychologically from this war!" he added.

"What?" Molly and Amelia were taken aback.

Before the two of them could understand what Revenant meant, he pushed Bad Moon Rising back with his axe and used it to zap Molly and Amelia's hearts with dark aether electricity, causing them to collapse dead on the floor as their Stands disappeared.

"Oh no no no, I say when we're done."

~ Music Resumed ~

Using the power of the dark aether axe, Revenant zapped their hearts, and Amelia and Molly woke with a huge gasp.

"Now, let's try this again."

As Amelia and Molly were revived from the dead, they summoned their Stands, only for Revenant to immediately execute a 360-degree horizontal spin and slashed their chests with his axe. The damage inflicted on their Stands transferred back to Molly and Amelia.

"GAAH!"

The two recall their Stands before Revenant could pull another attack on them, but it didn't change anything as his axe morphed into a circular shield and rammed both of them through multiple walls. They crashed through one final wall into the cafeteria, where Revenant grabbed them by the throats and slammed them against a wall. He dragged them across the wall before leaping into the air and chokeslamming them onto a table.

"Ow."

"Ow!"

"Pity, which I don't."

At that moment, Revenant noticed Mommy Long Legs, Miranda, and Donna dealing with 682, and spotted Abby along with Angie, Josie, and 999 hiding under a table far from 682.

"Now to get the kid."

As he approached Abby, he was kicked by Locked Away, making him lose his grip. Recovering instantly, he turned and blocked punches from both Stands with his shield.

"Now!" Molly shouted as she and Amelia grabbed metal trays from the floor and whacked him on the back of the head, stunning him for a split second, which is just enough for Locked Away to place locks on his body to stop his movement.

Seizing the opportunity, the two Stands rushed him and delivered a series of blows such as two punches to the chest, an uppercut to the face, a knee to the abdomen, and finally, a powerful double punch to the chest that sent Revenant crashing into a wall.

"Do you feel any pain yet?" Molly mocked.

All of a sudden, dark aether aura was emitted menacingly coming from underneath the rubble. In flashes of purple light, the rubble exploded into dust, and Revenant stood up with all Locked Away's locks removed from his body.

"What?!"

"I'll show you pain," Revenant growled.

"GRAH!"

Like a raging demonic beast, Revenant morphed his axe into two knuckle dusters and charged at the group. In a course of a few seconds, he delivered an uppercut to Bad Moon Rising, ducked a left hook from Locked Away, and punched her knee, inwardly breaking it.

Immediately after, he moved behind Molly and elbowed the back of her head, causing her to fall to the floor.

Before Revenant could react further, Amelia slammed a tray into his head, only for it to snap in two.

"Crap."

Bam!

Revenant punched Amelia's face, followed by jumping over a punch from Bad Moon Rising and punched the back of her head. He dodged over again from a sweep kick by Locked Away and punched her in the face. The two Stands then moved to his side and went for a right hook on his face, but he jumped into the air again, causing their fist to collide with each other's faces, sending them to the floor.

"RIDICULOUS!"

With a groan, Molly threw the crescent moon she summoned at Revenant like a boomerang, slicing his head in half and his body disintegrating into  black smoke which enveloped the area around the two, who quickly put their backs against each other.

"Stay sharp!" Amelia said firmly.

Molly nodded, "Got it!"

Moments later, Revenant runs out of the black smoke and tosses a flashbang, which explodes and blinded the two.

"This game is won."

As he said those words, he stabbed Amelia right in the abdomen with his metal hand and swung his hand horizontally which slashed it open, causing Amelia to cough up blood and she tried to summon her Stand Locked Away. Before she could, Revenant swung his other hand downward, slashing her face and leaving five slash marks on her face, causing her to collapse on the floor as her abdomen bled profusely.

Grabbing her by the throat, Marauder violently slammed her on top of Amelia. Withfull force, he stomped both of their faces into the floor, cracking it and knocked them out.

In anger, Molly lunged at Revenant, but he pulled out his Peacekeeper shotgun and pointed it just half an inch from her face. Molly's eyes widened, and she tried to dodge, but it was too late. The shotgun fired plasma bullets, scorching the entire right side of her face. Fortunately, nothing vital was hit.

Despite avoiding death, Molly was launched back and screamed in pain as she held the right side of her face.

"DAMN IT!!"

Raising his metal hand, Revenant stabbed her in the back and lifted her up before slamming her on top of Amelia, followed by stomping their faces into the floor with full force, cracking the ground and knocking both of them out.

"Blood loss will kill you both anyway, so you're already dead," Revenant said, pointing the Peacekeeper shotgun at them. "Just to be sure, though."

As he says that, he was about to pull the trigger and—

"Hey! Metal head!"

Hearing an unfamiliar voice, he effortlessly dodged a crowbar and fire axe swing from Iris and Lucy, who were holding the said items.

"Who the hell are you two?" Revenant asked nonchalantly.

"Friends to the two doctors," Lucy simply answered.

Iris added, "So leave them alone or we-"

Before Iris could finish her sentence, Revenant quick-drew his shotgun, blowing their weapons out of their grasp and shooting them in the legs, causing both to collapse to the floor in pain.

"Argh!"

"Indiana Jones rule 101, never bring a sword to a gunfight. In your case, it's a crowbar and axe, but yeah, same thing,"

Meanwhile with 682, the giant immortal lizard widened his mouth and attempted to chomp down Mommy Long Legs, but she quickly leaped over the attack, landing onto his back and wrapping his upper jaw with her elastic arms before ripping it off his head. Donna followed up by spraying his eyes with the pollen again, putting him into a hallucination state and Miranda lastly cut off his hind legs, causing him fall, and stabbed him in the right side of his chest, slicing it open with her claws and ripping his heart out before crushing it.

"YOU CAN'T KILL ME!"

To their surprise, even after his heart was crushed, 682 was still alive. He fired countless bone spikes from his body at breakneck speed, forcing Donna and even Revenant to flip some tables over and take cover behind them while Mommy Long Legs kept jumping left and right to dodge the spikes and Miranda used her claws to deflect them.

"Any plans, people?!" Mommy Long Legs shouted as she dodged a bone spike.

Miranda replied while deflecting one, "Just one, lights out!"

Miranda flapped her six wings together, and a dark mist began to form, engulfing the entire cafeteria in darkness.

"Interesting," 682 murmured, stopping his spike barrage and healing his wounds. He noticed everyone had disappeared into the darkness and couldn't see them. To counter this, he created multiple eyes on his body to see from every angle and enhanced his sense of smell using his adaptation powers.

"Where are they? My sense of smell isn't locating in this darkness mist, looks like my eyes and ears can only be trusted for now." he thought.

"Where are they? My sense of smell isn't locating them in this darkness mist. Looks like my eyes and ears can only be trusted for now," he thought.

In the pitch-black mist, Miranda, Donna, and Mommy Long Legs prepared their next move. Miranda silently gestured to the others, indicating a coordinated attack. Using the cover of darkness, they moved stealthily around 682, aiming to strike from multiple directions simultaneously.

At that moment, Mommy Long Legs jumped out of the darkness and threw the bone spikes 682 had fired earlier back at him, hitting all of his eyes. He blindly swung a right hook at her, but she jumped back into the darkness, dodging his punch and laughing maniacally.

"COWARDS!"

An instant later, Miranda flew out of the darkness and slashed his head open. Revenant followed, leaping from the shadows and throwing a grenade into the gaping wound. The grenade exploded, blowing the top half of 682's head off and both quickly retreated back into the darkness. Not long after, Mommy Long Legs emerged again and fired webs at 682, which pinned him to the floor.

As the darkness dissipated and everything returned to normal, Miranda shouted.

"Now!"

Immediately, Revenant jumped towards 682 with his axe morphed into a hammer.

"HAMMER DOWN!"

As he cried out, he swung the dark aether hammer down with full force onto 682's head. The impact smashed 682's head through the floor, breaking it, and sent him crashing through multiple floors at high speed until he landed in the room with the warhead, knocked out cold.

~ Music Ended ~

Looking down at the broken floor, Revenant sneered, "Groovy."

Sighing in relief, Mommy Long Legs turned around and noticed Miranda and the rest were not in the cafeteria and had used the opportunity to escape.

"No!"

As she was about to followed them again, the P.A system went back online.

[Warning! On-site warhead is 20 seconds away from full detonation. Please evacuate immediately.]

"...Abby."

"Come on! We are leaving!" Revenant shouted at her as he morphed the hammer into an axe, zapped a portal open with it, and they both jumped into it, which closed behind them afterwards.

———————————————————

Miranda, now back to her normal form, was flying down the elevator shaft with the rest holding on to her back as she was heading for the floor where the tram station was, which was on the very last floor.

"Come on! Come on!"

As she reached the last floor, she spotted the station and flew towards the tram, which had the injured Clef and Bright inside. She entered the tram, placed everyone on their seats next to the two male doctors, and pressed a button, pushed a lever upward on the control panel, causing the tram to begin moving down the tunnel at full speed on the tracks and racing away from Site-17 as far as possible.

"WEEEEEEEEE!" Angie screamed in delight.

"SHUT IT, ANGIE!" Miranda shouted, focusing on their escape.

———————————————————

Rubbing his head in pain, 682 slowly woke up and noticed the warhead in front of him going critical.

"Damn it!"

Noticing the wires and pipes attached to the warhead, 682 wasted no time in ripping all of them off. Surprisingly, this action caused the warhead to stop glowing and emitting steam.

He sighed in relief, "Crisis averted. Now to-"

"Your... Ugly."

Turning to the source of the voice, 682 saw a tiny desk engineer standing om top of the warhead.

"A tiny man?"

The tiny engineer widened his inhuman smile and began to dance.

"YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!"

Clang—!

With a loud clang, the tiny engineer slammed his wrench onto the warhead. 682 expected it would explode upon impact, but after moments of silence, it seemed the force wasn't enough.

"...Huh, it seemed like-"

Before 682 could finish speaking, the warhead unexpectedly transformed into a larger bomb, much to his shock and confusion.

Nuclear Warhead Lv.2

".....Wha-"

BOOOOOOM!

———————————————————

An Reich AAV tank was parked on a hill, where Revenant and Mommy Long Legs used binoculars to observe Site-17 from a safe distance.

"Nothing's happening?" Mommy Long Legs asked, puzzled.

"Hmm... I'm pretty sure I act—"

*BOOM*

Just as Revenant was about to speak, a massive explosion erupted, and a mushroom cloud billowed into the sky.

Before the two could comprehend what was happening, a powerful shockwave rippled through the air and nearly knocked them off their feet. Thankfully, they were positioned thirty miles away from the epicenter of the explosion.

"...I expected the warhead to be as strong as those used in the second world war, but this is on the scale of a megaton bomb," Revenant remarked with a hint of surprise in his tone.

Mommy Long Legs, meanwhile, looked down in sadness.

Noticing her expression, Revenant added, "I'm pretty sure the kid survived."

"Really?"

"Her friends likely had escape plans set up so no doubt they survived."

A small smile crept onto Mommy Long Legs' face. "Yeah, they were desperate to protect her. Maybe... they aren't all bad."

"Still, they're working for the enemy. Next time, no mercy. Let's get out of here. The job's done."

With that, the two entered the AAV tank and drove away.

———————————————————

On a remote road far from Site-17, Whitesnake, Blue Engineer, the one who has become Jumpin Jack Flash, and Kraft Work were cruising in a jeep when they suddenly heard a massive explosion. They instinctively turned to witness a massive mushroom cloud where Site-17 had once stood.

"Heh," Engineer chuckled nonchalantly.

"Good Blimey, now what?" Kraft Work asked in concern.

"We are heading for Florida to get picked up by an organization that will send us to Bolivia and go off grid there for some time," Whitesnake explained calmly.

"Why Bolivia?" Kraft Work inquired.

"Because when I first arrived in this world, I found myself in the tropical forests of Bolivia and met up with an organization there who I made... somewhat of a trust with," Whitesnake replied, "They will be able to pay Engineer here for his Mercenary services, and they were also involved in Ghost Recon Wildlands."

"Wildlands?" Kraft Work wondered. After a moment, realization hits him, "You mean THAT organization is there?!"

"Yes. Now, keep driving," Whitesnake instructed.

"Bloody hell."

———————————————————

Not far from the trio, Able strode purposefully down a deserted road while gripping the map he had obtained from Kraft Work. He studied it intently, plotting his course toward Site-19.

"Just you wait, Cain. Just you wait," he muttered, with murderous intent as he continued walking towards the direction of Site-19.

———————————————————

In an abandoned train yard several kilometers away from Site-17, set in the middle of an open grasslands with multiple trams that had escaped the site, hundreds of MTFs, SCP guards, scientists, and a variety of contained Safe and Euclid class SCPs were gathered. Among them stood Site Director Jones, anxiously awaiting the arrival of the last tram from Site-17.

"Come on, where are you all?" Jones muttered impatiently, scanning the horizon.

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Jones spotted a tram approaching in the distance. As it rolled closer into the yard, he could see Miranda in the train conductor's seat.

"They made it!" Jones exclaimed with relief.

As the tram came to a stop, Miranda stepped out confidently.

"Take the wounded only. The rest who aren't injured will stay with me," she directed.

Jones nodded, and the medics quickly moved to assist Clef, Amelia, Molly, Iris, Bright, and Lucy out of the tram to tend to their injuries. Moments later, Jones's eyes fell upon 999, Donna, Angie, Josie the half-cat, and to his fearful shock, Abby among them.

"Keep 053 away from us and not too close to anyone! Her powers could be the death of us," Jones warned urgently with a solemn expression.

"Donna explained what she heard from Rodeo about Abby. I'll keep a close eye on her," Miranda assured him.

"You better. The last thing we need is us killing each other," Jones said grimly as he walked away, leaving Abby to pet 999 and Josie with Angie.

"So what's next?" Donna asked her mother, feeling concerned.

"I'm not sure, but one thing is certain," Miranda replied, her gaze sweeping across the vast grasslands with a serious tone.

"This war is far from over."

———————————————————

Back in Berlin, Reich and dark aether forces were still moving through the streets with General Kroenen leading them, that is until a Mangler approached Kroenen with a radio.

"A call is coming to us... from within Russia."

Kroenen, being surprised, gestured to the Mangler to put the radio on a loudspeaker and he did so.

"Who is this?"

[You want to get Russia in the palm of your hands. Don't you?] said a male voice with a Russian accent to it.

"And how do you know?"

[Our... wolves have been giving us information on the current situation in Europe from the shadows. We can help you with that very easily, but I must talk to your leader first,] the voice replied calmly.

"Just who the hell are you?"

———————————————————

Inside a dimly lit cabin, a man sat composedly on a chair, speaking to the Mangler through a specialized phone with two soldiers sitting on his side bearing a red square symbol positioned at a 90-degree angle.

[Just who the hell are you?] the Mangler asked through the phone with a mix of suspicion and curiosity in his voice.

"Ravens Rock, and we plan to align our interests to aid you in your cause, thereby furthering our own," the voice on the other end replied confidently.

[...We're listening.]

– The Salt Desert Koani, Bolivia, South America - 7:00 PM –

In the salt desert of Bolivia, an outpost belonging to a dangerous organization was on the west side of the stark landscape and their flag was hoisted proudly, bearing the organization's symbol under the shining sun.

The Santa Blanca cartel

Inside one of the outpost's modest houses, a man of Mexican descent with a Spanish accent sat calmly on a chair, engaged in conversation with Whitesnake over an untraceable phone.

"So you want to stay off grid from the people you tried to steal memories from knowing full well they are busy with the war situation in America and Europe," the man stated.

[Yes, so are you letting us in or out?] Whitesnake's cold response was blunt and to the point.

"Cold as ever. Very well, I'll allow it. Head for Florida and meet up with my men there. I'll arrange for Nidia to send a boat to pick you up," the man replied with a hint of resignation.

[Good,] Whitesnake affirmed before ending the call.

As the conversation concluded, a Santa Blanca member entered the room and placed an item wrapped in cloth on the table before him.

"What's this?" the man inquired, his curiosity piqued.

"We found it while driving across the salt flats. It felt like it was calling to us," the member explained.

"I see. You may go," the man dismissed the member, turning his attention to the mysterious item.

Unwrapping the cloth, he revealed an artifact made of gleaming gold, intricately designed with the motif of a beetle.

"An arrow?" he muttered to himself, studying the artifact with a mix of fascination and contemplation.

The man who held this powerful artifact was none other than the leader of the Santa Blanca cartel.

El Sueno.

"Is this war and this arrow a sign to something big for the world?" El Sueno pondered aloud.

In a rare moment of introspection, he uttered four words that carried weight and uncertainty.

"...No doubt about it."
