Chapter 3 - No Magic

Lloyd was now sitting in the library, completely baffled. In his hands was a history book, detailing the history of the modern era.

Lloyd was shocked, after a couple of rereads the idea finally sunk in.

Does this world have no magic?

Lloyd was now freaking out, trying his best to not scream. Why was he so freaked out? He knew he was going to travel to another world, but he never thought it was going to be something like this.

Lloyd closed his eyes and started calming himself down. His breathing started slowing into a calm pace and his body stopped shaking.

He opened his eyes again, now he was looking around, observing all the people around him.

"Scan: Magic"

After those words were said, his eyes began glowing and he looked at everyone, trying to get a read. But sadly, there was nothing, no magic.

Lloyd sighed and de activated the spell. He closed the book he was reading and returned it to it's place.

He stood up and started walking around the library until he arrived at a peculiar shelf, it held books filled with magical creatures.

Lloyd couldn't resist so he took one and began reading it, this was a novel.

He looked up and saw the word "Fiction"

Lloyd sighed, seems this world only views magic as stories and myth. Lloyd returned the book and started walking again, he was keeping his head low trying to think of a plan.

He was walking slowly, his brain tuning out everything else, he was now focused on his inner thoughts. How was I gonna survive here? Will I just have to fit in? Hide my magic? Or tell them?

Lloyd was deep in thought, so he didn't see the kid running towards him, the kid on the other hand was looking behind so he didn't see Lloyd coming.

Without warning, they both collided and fell to the ground. Lloyd was massaging his head, while the kid was standing up and apologizing to him.

Lloyd stood up and nodded at the kid, the kid was very sorry, so he apologized one more time.

The kid then ran away to another section, disappearing among the vast number of shelves.

Lloyd went back to thinking, he was now pacing around, until he heard his stomach grumble.

Lloyd sighed, he hadn't eaten anything since he arrived here, and he's getting hungry.

Maybe there's a restaurant here? he though to himself.

But I don't have any money... Maybe I can just hypnotize them again..

Lloyd started pacing again, until his stomach grumbled. Lloyd clicked his tongue.

He decided, he was only gonna use this one more time, back in his world, strict laws were mandated to keep the use of reckless magic.

But this world has no magic, that means they won't be able to detect it, but even so it still feels wrong.

Lloyd was now outside the library, he was wandering around trying to find a place to eat. He walked around until he was met with a small cafe, it was small and there weren't a lot of people.

Lloyd went in, the door jingled as he opened it, letting the people know he was coming in.

The place was cozy, it gave off a cottage vibe, with brown, wooden walls, plants hanging around, and small tables and chairs.

It looked like one of those cafes owned by fairies, in the lynthia empire.

Lloyd walked all the way to the table at the back, where no one would notice him. He looked around, the place really did give off that homey feel.

When he was busy observing the place, a girl arrived in front of him, coughing to get his attention.

Lloyd immediately looked at her, she was probably 16, she had black hair and black eyes, she was wearing a green shirt and some pants.

"Good morning sir! what can I get you today?"

Lloyd immediately grabbed the menu in front of him, he was silent for a while until he said.

"I'll have some bread and coffee"

The girl nodded, and walked away, Lloyd watched as she started preparing his order, he closed his eyes and waited, thinking about all the things that happened to him.

After a while of thinking, the girl finally arrived with his order and placed it on the table. Lloyd smiled and the girl nodded before turning back and leaving.

Lloyd breathed in and started eating. The food here was delicious, he couldn't help but smile when he took in his first bite. The bread was soft and the coffee was smooth and creamy.

In no time Lloyd finished his dish, he was smiling as he took his last sip. The girl then arrived and gave him a piece of paper.

"The bill sir"

Lloyd's smile faltered, he didn't like taking advantage of this girl. She was just standing there smiling, so innocent.

Lloyd sighed and raised his head, his eyes began glowing and the girl jumped. Her eyes started glowing as well, her face losing emotion.

"Today, seems to be a lovely day. Won't you give me this for free?"

His voiced echoed in her mind, as if disobeying was impossible.

The girl stood there and smiled, she bowed her head and walked away. Lloyd breathed slowly, his eyes returning to normal.

The other people in the cafe did not see him perform his magic, but still he couldn't get rid of the feeling in his stomach.

Lloyd just shook his head and sighed.

He was now sitting in the table, trying to think of a plan, from the looks of it, it was already noon, so he really needed to find a place to sleep.

"As long as I find an empty spot, I can summon it and put it there"

He looked around, until his eyes met the girl he hypnotized earlier. Lloyd's mood darken, she was just standing there, having no idea what he did to her.

But something was wrong. She was massaging her head as if she was having a headache. She then clutched her stomach, her other co-workers were getting worried so they led her to one of the chairs, but before they made it she collapsed.

Lloyd tried to get close to her but people were swarming around her.

She was panting, her body was sweating, and she started crying.

"Is she having a panic attack" one of the bystanders said.

After a couple of minutes she was getting more aggressive, people were trying to hold her down, while her legs thrashed about, even hitting people beside her.

Lloyd was horrified, was this a side effect of the spell? no...it can't be.

Lloyd was about to scan her when people barged through the door, they were carrying some kind of bed with them.

"Finally the ambulance arrived"

Lloyd turned to look at them, they were holding the girl down and quickly lifted her and put her in the stretcher.

They tied her down, she was now screaming and thrashing about, trying to break free.

The people then moved her outside and put her inside one of those moving cars.

Lloyd immediately ran outside and caught a glimpse of the girl, she was still thrashing like a wild animal.

Lloyd looked at her and his eyes glowed, he examined her and his eyes widened.

Around her, the aura he knew all to well, it was covering her body, as if devouring it. Lloyd stared at it until the doors close and the car moved.

They turned around a corner, leaving Lloyd wide eyed at his discovery.

Was that.....magic!
