Chereads / Escaped To Earth / Chapter 6 - The Sorcerer's Intern: Part 2

Chapter 6 - The Sorcerer's Intern: Part 2

"Hey.....Bianca.."

Mari held back an eye roll, Bianca on the other hand was smiling at her all innocently.

"Nice to see you Mar-mar, how was your little episode? Are you sure you should be here, I mean we don't want another incident"

Bianca began making gestures to everyone around them, which in turn made everyone back away.

"It's ok Bianca, I'm fine, I was discharged by the doctor, so if you could excuse me, I need to go..."

Mari quickly turn around, trying to escape from her as fast as possible. Bianca rolled her eyes and walked the other way, people were staring at her, but she glared back causing them to look away.

When Mari and her friend were in their room they sighed, finally being able to breath again.

"God! who does she think she is!" her friend exclaimed.

"I know right, she's so full of herself"

"Let's face it, she's gonna milk this for all it's worth"

"I know..."

Mari and her friend sat in their respected seats and waited for class to begin. When Mari was waiting, she couldn't help but feel like she's being watched. It wasn't uncomfortable either, it was more like being guarded.

Mari looked out the window and she could have sworn there was a silhouette of a man, covered in a rainbow-like hue, watching her.

On the contrary, Mari didn't feel fear, she felt familiarity, she looked deeply into the figure and mumbled.

"Lloyd...."

Immediately the bell rang, snapping Mari back to reality. She looked back and saw the figure was gone, she sighed and looked away.

Her teacher walked in the room, and began his lecture.

Lloyd stared intently at the map, the girl was already out of her house, walking beside the road.

Lloyd just watched her, making sure nothing was wrong.

She was walking all seemed well until something happened. The map began blaring, a bright red dot appeared right next to the girl. The map was picking up some peculiar signals from it, causing Lloyd to stand up and observe the creature.

It was definitely magical, although the map was sending out an alarm, the creature just stood their, not moving, the girl to was not moving.

Lloyd got worried, he was about to warp to her side when the creature just....disappeared. The girl started walking again, this time quite faster, and was now right Infront of a building.

Lloyd looked and saw it was some kind of school, he immediately turned off the map and headed outside of the library.

He was now standing Infront of a wall, Lloyd took one more step and instantly his body phased right through.

When he was out, he was now in the alleyway from before. He walked out of the alley and cloaked himself in some weird rainbow like haze, with this he was now walking completely invisible.

When he arrived at the so called "School" he began sensing the faint touch of magic. He followed the trail, and was now beside a window, he looked directly at it and saw the girl, Mari.

She was sitting down when all of a sudden, she looked outside. She was now staring right at him.

'Wait...can she see me?'

She began staring deeper, and Lloyd couldn't help but freeze on the spot. When she looked at him, he could see her mumbling something, that's when a bell rang and she looked away.

Lloyd bolted out of the way and into the corner.

"Oh dear, looks like she is one of them...."

Mari was now listening intently, it was third period --science-- which was one of her favorite subjects.

She listened, the topic was the ecosystem, and how plants and animals coexist.

Mari couldn't help but get drawn to the subject, she had always been fascinated with the earth, and how it lived. She was taking down notes as if her life depended on it.

The teacher was now in the middle of her discussion when Mari heard it....the whisper.

Mari froze, the sound of her teacher's voice dissipating, now replaced with an eery silence. The whispers were faint but she could still hear it, like thunder echoing in her mind.

She sat frozen, she couldn't turn her head, she was staring at her notebook, fear, keeping her from moving. The whisper now turned into that laugh, the laugh which burned through her mind, she tried to stop listening to it, trying to cover her ears, but she couldn't, she was helpless.

"huh!....."

Mari gasped, the feeling of something touching her shoulders, snapped her from her frozen state causing her to look around.

She was alone.

No one was around, the students, even the teacher, all she could see was the black, gooey mass behind her chair.

It was climbing on top of it, as if swallowing it whole. The mass began spreading, it was now covering the chairs around the room, Mari fell to floor in horror, as she watched the black mass getting bigger.

Soon, black gooey slime began falling from the ventilation, even the loose floor boards, it was practically raining gooey slime. Mari was now covered in the black goo, her face could feel it move around , touching her, feeling her.

Mari was stuck, she couldn't scream, even if she wanted to. She only stared as the black mass morphed, forming itself into a human figure.

It pointed at her, its now fully formed face looking at her. Its features were grotesque, she couldn't even describe it without vomiting.

The creature smiled, it's mouth moving.

"Mari....Mari....Mari..."

It kept repeating her name, over and over again.

"No....Stop....Stop!!"

Mari covered her ears, trying to tune out the voice, but it wouldn't budge, it's call kept ringing in her ears, until it was all she could here. Mari, her name, she was sick of it being repeated over and over again, until....

"Mari!"

The voice of her teacher snapped her back, she opened her eyes, she was now in her classroom, sitting in her chair. All of the students were staring at her, some of worry, while others of fear.

"Are you ok..."

Her teacher bent down to look at her, she was sweating, her face was pale, all color seeming to be drained out.

"You were panicking, you started shouting and crying, we tried calling your name, but you kept saying 'Stop' "

Mari looked at her teacher, and then her classmates. They were all staring at her, complete silence ringing in the room.

No one spoke a word, no one moved a muscle, they just stared. Their breathing was the only thing that could be heard. Mari started calming down, the color returning to her face, and students started easing up.

"Ring.....Ring...."

The school bell rang (signalling lunch) echoed throughout the room. The first to stand up was Mari, she took her bag and left. Her teacher tried to stop her but she didn't listen and instead went to the bathroom.

She stood in front of the mirror, looking at her haggard appearance, she opened the faucet and started washing her face. When she was done, she dried herself with a paper towel, when she opened her eyes she saw something in the reflection.

A rainbow like haze was encircling her body, after close inspection, her body seemed to be emitting it. She was now staring at it, that's when she heard the voice.

"Amazing isn't it?"

Mari turned around to see the same invisible figure, covered in the same rainbow hue. She heard a snapping sound and she saw the man who saved her in the hospital.

"It's you....Lloyd!"

"Yup, it's me"

"What are you doing here?"

"Well I'm watching you ofcourse"

"What do you mean watching me?"

"It doesn't matter, I'll explain everything, just meet me at the alley in Milton street, ok?"

"Uh....ok"

The man nodded.

"Oh, and try not to get to emotional, your still way to unpredictable...ok bye...."

The man nodded and proceeded to snap his fingers, after that he disappeared, no sign of the rainbow haze anywhere.

Mari gulped, she breathed in slowly and exited the bathroom. She was now walking through the hallway, when her friend arrived.

"Mari.."

"Angelo.."

Angelo Bautista, her best friend in the world, they first met at kindergarten, after that, they never left each other's side. Angelo has always been their for her, and she has always been their for him.

After seeing him, she instantly felt relieved, she smiled at him and they went to the cafeteria.

Once they arrived, everyone was looking at them, more specifically her. Unlike her, Angelo just shrugged them and continued walking.

Mari couldn't imagine what her life would be if Angelo wasn't there. He was always her emotional support, and now she needed him most.

When they walked through the tables, they saw an empty table, they went to it and sat down.

The students slowly started resuming their lunch, while Mari and Angelo just sat their.

"Hey...are you ok? I heard about what happened earlier"

"I'm fine, I'm ok....don't worry"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, I'm sure.."

Angelo nodded and they both took out their lunch.

They were now eating, when they heard a thud. A lunch box was dropped on their table.

"Hey guys....can I sit here?"

That voice, they all know who that was. Mari couldn't help but want to scream right now, but she couldn't, she can't risk making a scene.

They looked up, and there she was, Bianca. Behind her were her "friends" and her brother.

They were only standing their being silent, waiting for Bianca.

Mari, inhaled, just be calm, no need to get agitated...

"Of course, sit. There's a lot of room"

Bianca's eyes widened.

"Oh I see, I meant could you move to another table...we prefer this one"

'What the actual hell!?'

Mari tried to bit back her tongue, from screaming at her now. She remembered Lloyd's advice and so she closed her eyes and took in another breath.

"Why? we got here first, and besides we can all fit"

"Yeah...but I kinda don't want to share this one"

"What...."

Mari was now losing patience, her anger was now festering inside of her. Why! she's already has a lot to deal with, but of course Bianca had to be an actual demon.

Why can't she just have a normal day!

"Ok that's it..." Angelo stepped in "Either you sit down or leave, cause we are not leaving this table"

"How rude, Angelo"

Bianca put her hand in her chest as if she hadn't been this insulted in her life.

"Well you should know I-"

"Go away"

Bianca didn't even finish her sentence when Mari cut her off.

"What did you say?"

"I said go away, or else"

"Oh yeah...or else, what?"

'That's it!'

Right there, something inside of her snapped, why was she struggling with this. She doesn't deserve this, and now she's not gonna let it slide.

All of a sudden, the walls began to shake, the tables were now wobbling and the floor moved violently. Bianca and many others fell because of the shock, while Mari was standing their frozen, staring directly at her.

"Or else, I make you"

Mari said to Bianca, but she didn't hear it. The entire room was now shaking violently, and cracks started to form. From the cracks vines started growing, they were now slowly spreading throughout the room, but the students were to busy ducking their heads to notice it.

Mari was about to scream, when she felt a sharp pain in her head. She fell to the ground grasping her hair, when the pain became unbearable, she passed out.

"Mari!...."

The sound of her friend Angelo was the last thing she heard before the she fell to the ground, unconscious.

Just as she passed out, the room stopped shaking and the vines retracted back to the cracks, before anyone saw it.

The entire room was silent until they saw the unconscious body of Mari. They started helping Angelo move her to the infirmary, while others were staring at her in shock.

"Did she hit in her head?"

"Did she have another one of her episodes?"

"Is she ok?"

Questions were now flying throughout the air, as many students stared at the disappearing body of Mari.

Bianca on the other hand was stroking her temple, when her brother picked her up.

"Are you ok?" he asked worriedly

"Yeah I'm fine.."

"I told you not to bother her, now look what happened"

Bianca clicked her tongue and rolled her eyes, she sat at a chair and closed her eyes. Her brother was staring at her, worried about her sister, while Bianca was replaying the events that unfolded in her mind.

"What the actual hell, just happened...."
