Chapter 9 - Misconceptions

I knew his temper was high at the moment so I tiptoed and carefully opened the door. Immediately as I raised my foot to take a step, I heard him shouted my name. He had cought me already, so quietly, I walked closer to explain exactly what happened. But before I would author a word, I had already received a hard slap on my face. I was badly hurt, not because of the pain of the slap but because it was his first time raising his hand on me. Emotions had no role to play at that moment. I did not give up. I went ahead trying to defend myself about the misconceptions created against me.

"Shut up!"

"But dad..."

Another slap followed. Tears trickled down my face as I touched my cheeks and stared at him surprised.

"One more word from you and you will see the bad side of me!"

I knew I had done nothing wrong to be receiving such treatment.

"Daddy please listen..."

Before I would land, he slapped me again and added some beatings. Clara, the one after me heard the noise and rushed outside. she helped me cried.

"Daddy please stop! Stop beating my sister! She has not done anything wrong!"

She pleaded with him while holding his shirt from behind. Without even turning to look at her, he pushed her to land somewhere on the floor. She sat there and sceamed while holding her knee.

"What is wrong?"

I crawled to ask her, forgetting that I was also in pain.

"Clara get up"

I helped her in the process.

"It's all my fault. I shouldn't have included into this matter. I should have told you to go back inside when you came out".

I continued crying while massaging her knee.

"Sister, get up. You have no fault in this. You have never done something wrong and will never do. Even if you do, you have good mentality behind"

"Claraaa!"

We hugged and cried on each other's shoulders.

"Where is daddy?"

Clara asked.

"I saw him rushed inside the house"

Just as I ended, there he came, rushing out with luggage. He angrily threw them across the floor.

"Pick your things and get out of my sight!

He commanded. As I turned to look at my clothes scattered on the floor, I hurried to catch my pant that was about to fly.

"Daddy please don't do this. You know I have nowhere to go either than here"

"You have nowhere else to go? Yes you do! Go back to where you went to enjoy. Go and stay with him, and there, I am not sure there would be somebody to interrupt you!"

"Daddy please it's not what you are thinking. let me explain"

"What else do you want me to see or hear? huh! tell me!"

He said while shaking me by the shoulders.

"I have had enough of you! And I am sick and tired of your nonsense!"

I still held his legs and cried, still not giving up to explain but nothing moved him. He pushed me away and began reigning insults on me.
