Chapter 1 - New World

'It's time to go home.'

With an easy gait, Lucas emerged from the school gates and began his traversal of the deserted road. As the sun slowly faded into the distance, the uproar of student chatter gradually dissipated.

From time to time, a scattering of cars would pass by and a small number of people could be seen on the paths. Lucas lived in a community that only had a solitary school for education. He had grown to become disaffected with everything, which led to him not having any friends as he would rather stay inside and immerse himself in books than go outside with other people.

On this day, however, as Lucas was about to traverse another road, a brilliant light manifested beneath him and engulfed him almost instantly. Lucas vanished from the spot without anyone else perceiving it.

...

...

Darkness filled Lucas' sight and led him to believe he either died or fainted.

'Is this what death feels like? Just an endless void of nothingness?'

The darkness didn't persist for long, as Lucas started to feel a sensation like his soul and body was being dragged across molten rock, it was extremely agonizing. It was so painful that Lucas couldn't even think, his mind was starting to crumble.

As Lucas was about to fully break, a warm light shone on his spiritual body and severed any connections he had with the pain before.

He felt himself able to move and slowly opened his eyes. Lucas was seemingly faced towards the ceiling but a female face obscured the rest of his vision. The woman's face looked ecstatic when she saw Lucas open his eyes.

"He's awake!"

The woman called out to the rest of the people in the room. Lucas could finally look around without his vision being covered.

He was inside a spacious room with lots of decorative furniture. A man with a white lab coat and thin glasses stood tall beside him.

The man picked Lucas up and stared, looking for any imperfections. Meanwhile, Lucas was freaking out in his mind.

'Who are these people? Where am I? Why is my body so small? Am I a baby? Did I get reincarnated? Reincarnation is real? Is this my mother?"

Lucas asked so many questions in his mind, that it even gave him a splitting headache.

"This baby seems to be a little intelligent. He will grow up to be a fine gentleman."

The man Lucas assumed to be a doctor was praising him.

'Well there's no point in thinking about it now, it's not like I can do anything to reverse it.'

'Strange... I can't see the father, or should I say my father since I am technically their baby?'

Coincidentally, Lucas' mother named him Lucas, the same as his other name. His full name was Lucas Ivor.

A few years passed, nothing special happened. Lucas grew up and learned to walk and talk in an astonishing amount of time. His father was still nowhere to be seen. His mother's name was Rose.

Lucas' family was only a declining noble family, but he still had access to resources like the books inside of the family library.

When Lucas was 8 years old, he was already starting to return to his old apathetic self, the shock from reincarnating had already dissipated completely.

'I got reincarnated, yet nothing has changed at all. I live a peaceful but dull life. I was too naive to think I could become someone important here.'

Lucas was staring out the window from his room, his indifferent eyes scanned over every thing in his sight.

...

"AH!"

Excruciating pain assaulted every part of Lucas' body, he fell to the ground and he started foaming from the mouth. Lucas couldn't scream after that first yelp and apparently no-one heard it because nobody came to check up on him.

Lucas started to see flashing lights that had a variety of colours, they were floating everywhere in the air, but Lucas could see that a light gray light had been absorbed by his body. The energy being released and uncontrolled led to this energy harming him.

'Shit! I need to control this energy!'

Lucas didn't have any experience with this, but he had read a lot of novels with this type of theme in it. He tried to use the fictional knowledge he gained to try to make the energy calm down. While pain still assaulted him, it wasn't as bad as the initial suffering.

'Alright, I need to try to expel this energy. If this doesn't work, I guess this will be the end of my second life.'

Lucas used all of his mental capacity and expelled the energy from the gray light. At this moment, Lucas felt time around him being slowed down for a couple of seconds before all the energy was expelled.

Lucas collapsed to the ground and instantly passed out, not even having time to think about what just happened.
