'It's time,' Lucas thought to himself as he made his way towards the sleeping guards, taking care to keep his steps light and silent. The darkness of the room provided the perfect cover for him to make his move.
With a surge of determination, Lucas activated his traces and began shaping the energy within him. He focused all of his attention on forming an energy blade in his right hand, using the leftover energy to draw a circle and a complex pattern in the middle of the blade.
But as he finished the pattern and let the energy solidify, Lucas suddenly felt a sharp pain in his chest. He let out a cry of agony as he collapsed to the ground, his body writhing in pain as the uncontrolled energy rampaged within him.
'Agh! I must have messed up the pattern,' Lucas thought to himself as he lay on the ground, unable to move for the next 7 hours. By the time he was able to get up, the guards were already awake.
"Did you really think it would be that easy to escape?" a harsh voice called out, and Lucas turned to see Tom, his father, holding a whip in his hand. "It takes more than a few tries to be able to use a technique. Where did you even get one?"
Lucas didn't answer, only remaining silent as Tom began lashing him with the whip, the sharp pain making him cry out in agony. He was only a teenager in his old world, not even 16 yet, and the pain far surpassed anything he had ever experienced before.
But even as he knelt on the ground, tears streaming down his face and his back covered in bruises, Lucas couldn't help but think about revenge. He wanted to make the man who had done this to him suffer, to make him watch as Lucas killed his own sons with the same whip that had been used against him. He wanted to torture him for months, before finally putting an end to his life.
And so, Lucas made a vow to himself. He would bide his time, waiting for the opportunity to strike. He would use the pain and hatred within him as fuel to escape and seek his revenge. But for now, he knew that he had to be patient and wait for the right moment to strike.
