- "So what do you want to know?" I ask as I sit down on one of the kitchen counter chairs. It was dusty so I had to wipe it with my hands. He sits on the chair across from me in a loose way like he's trying to melt on it. It must be comfortable for him but to me, it just looks like he's acting cool despite his dorky appearance.
Now that we've sat down I could finally clearly see his face. He has a face that looks like a teenager. How old is he? I wonder. But he's clearly tall enough to be 1.8m so not that young maybe. He has a rough face with a big nose. In my opinion the only thing balancing his face is the thick square glasses.
- "Do you happen to pass by the Crowell city? We were there for a while but had to leave." he says while looking down at his hands. I feel like he's guilty about something.
- "Yes. I passed by there about a year ago. It's the next town right? But there was no one. Only a bunch of zombie hordes in the center of the city. When were you there?" I ask.
- "I see… We were there over a year and a half ago. There were about a hundred survivors. I guess they all turned.", he says quietly.
- "Lucky you guys left before that huh?" I ask a little mockingly.
- "Yes… Lucky…" he was deep in thought. "Anyway, where did you come from? Where will you go from here?". Now he's obviously changing the subject.
- "I came from north of here. I was staying in a cabin in the woods but it was attacked. So I left there and headed south to the south beach" I lied. I don't want them to know I'm heading for Driwood city. They're closer so they won't be suspicious. I'll still be heading south so no worries.
- "How old are you? Where did you grow up?" I was startled by how personal the questions had become.
- "Do you need to know?" I ask suspiciously.
- "I just want to get to know you better" he answers cheerfully. But that positiveness made me feel uncomfortable. There's something wrong going on. Just minutes ago I tried to kill his wife and he's here getting to know about me.
- "Look. I don't trust you and your wife. I'll be leaving today anyway. We won't be seeing much of each other. So no need to get to know about me" I got up grabbing my bag after saying that. I holsted my knife quickly and started to head for the exit.
- "Wait!" he says in a rush while grabbing my hands. "I know we started on the wrong foot. Let me fix that. Please!" Now he's obviously pleading with me. Why is he so desperate anyway? I ask myself.
- "Just rest here for the day or something. I won't bother you anymore. You look tired. And you can take what you need from the city. Anything. I don't want you to leave with a bad impression of us. " he says with a wounded puppy face. He was still holding onto my hand while saying it too. I think for a minute. I do need rest, and he's offering me a pretty good deal to not bother me. But he's still so persistent about me staying and that bothered me.
- "Fine! I'll stay. I won't be needing much from here. Got everything I needed here" I pointed at my bag. He knows I raided the supermarket and looks at my hand still gripping my knife. Then he lets go of my wrist.
- "Okay. Suit yourself. You can take a stroll out and see the city if you want. There were some people who came in this morning but I took care of most of them. So no need to worry." he reassures me.
" People" he says. I guess there were about no zombies roaming in the city compared to the other places I've been to. After he released me I noticed how tired I was. I've been up since dawn and had to do a bunch of physically challenging stuff. My body is almost sore.
- "Oh yeah. Do you have any rivers nearby? I need to get some water." I ask.
- "There's one small river right over there. Come here let me show you." he says while gesturing to me to come to the window. He stands in front of the window and points to a small park. I stand next to him to get a better view. He gets closer to me to show me where he's pointing at. "There's a park there that has a river. That water is clear enough to drink since there has been no one to pollute it." he says with his face close to mine.
- "Okay. I see it. Thanks" I say while taking a step back. Geez does he not know anything about boundaries? He smiles at me softly even though he realized I'm keeping my distance from him. Yep, at this point I'm 100 percent sure that he's flirting with me.
- "Can you also leave the keys behind? No offense but I still don't trust you." I say. Ignoring his advance is easy, but I still need to be safe. Offending him when he's clearly showing an interest might tick him off to do something bad to me. Men usually like to get what they want even by force. For now let's just play as vulnerable and frail. If I'm correct about the flirting thing then he would love to be liked by me.
- "Sure. Like I said, anything you need!" he says. He put down all the keys on the kitchen table next to my bag and headed towards the door to leave. But then he turns around and ask
- "Hey, I would also really appreciate it if you come by my house. I mean "we" would appreciate it. Zoe cooks the most delicious food. She would love to serve you a nice dinner as an apology, I'm sure" he said while holding the door open. "I'm pretty sure she will not" I think disagreeably.
- "I'll think about it. Thank you" I say.
When will he fucking leave? My every movement is hinting toward him to leave me alone. I'm already planning in my head to lock the door tightly as soon as he closes the door then head to the kitchen and eat one of the canned foods and just sleep until the night comes. Once I wake up I'm out of this psycho town for good. I approach the door and ready myself to lock it right in front of him.
- "Oops, don't fall like before haha" he says with a mocking tone. Now I'm seriously pissed but still maintain my fake smile. That was not funny at all but I guess I have to maintain appearances to make him feel comfortable with my rejection.
- "Ha ha ha"
My fake laughs are usually obvious with no heart and emotion in it. But how dense is he to not realize that? If he was more attractive and less suspicious then I would've acted more appealing towards him but he is very suspicious sometimes and terribly obsessed and naive by the looks of it. I would've been flattered by his advances if I was even a tiny bit attracted to him. Also the main reason I'm grossed out about his advance is the fact that he's married!
- "Okay, bye!" he waves his hand goodbye. I just nod and lock the door right away.
"I need to get out of here today!" I think as I put the chain lock on this time.
