-Reyha Kingdom; Gallo's Outskirts; Goblin's Lair; 10th Floor-
In the depth of the dungeon, there was nothing but with time, and a newfound understanding that would change, nothing became the goblin village, and from the very beginning, its chiefess was Rakuia. She was one of the first to wake up.
Unlike it would be with those that come to be for the first time, she knew a lot of things, not nearly as much as she would one day know, but certainly enough to get an idea of how to survive whatever the world threw at her, unfortunately for her, she was dealt quite poor cards.
She then got up and looked around at what was mostly an empty room, with a bed, a wardrobe, and a few other items here and there. Curious she left the room and eventually the house and was met with various other goblins in a similar circumstance to hers.
This led to her organizing a meeting where things were talked out, and the goblins were just worried about how to defend their village, but after posts were chosen and almost everyone was given a job and position, things started to look brighter for them, as they beloved their defenses were great and not to be easily squandered.
Eventually, the village that had been living in peacefully unaware of what lay beyond, was attacked by a group of 12 people. They came out of nowhere and put the village on fire, then killed whatever goblins were left with no mercy or hesitation.
Three weeks later, the village that had been annihilated, was back to how it first was with all its inhabitants, waking up screaming and in panic before realizing they were indeed not on fire or being attacked at all. How could this be? Weren't they supposed to be dead?
Unrest spread and Rakuia had to create a different meeting where they discussed the situation it was written off as some unexplainable phenomenon and the goblins moved on, the same as before, confident that they could do this and keep their village safe.
Just like before fate laughed at their faces and a group of 8 people came and wiped them out without even burning the village, they really just slathered every single of them, no matter how they begged or run or surrendered, death was the ultimate outcome for all of them.
Again, three weeks later things were back to normal and they were all fine, but what was going on? They were confused, and even so, they ultimately convinced themselves to ignore whatever that was and keep going.
That was until it happened again, and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again!!!! This cycle continued as they died multiple times only to wake up three weeks later as nothing happened, everything is the exact same as it was before.
The goblins got mad, furious even, and began to prepare better, even watching what these invaders would do to prepare better for it. They still died massacred multiple times after that, but it was a learning experience that was used to its fullest.
They built better defenses using the very high amount of stone around them and even began training as well as copying moves or at least trying to from the invaders to be as prepared as they could better than ever.
Against another party of 12, one similar to the one that first faced, using everything they learned the goblins fought, and though they still lost, unlike before it was no total defeat and they were able to kill more than half of the invaders! That was a massive improvement for them, one that gave them hope.
Things were back to being just like before but with their newfound hope and experience of the past, they did even better in rebuilding their defenses and training, to the point where they believed nothing could stop them.
And in part, they were correct as the first actual goblin victory was against a group of 6 invaders.
From then things become worse... Unlike how things would calm down for a while once they woke up, the invaders kept coming group after group, until the goblin's new-found strength was stomped and they were all sent back to step 1.
All their efforts were lost just like that, and this fueled their hate for the invaders and their reluctance to leave the goblin village alone.
It was war one that went on and on and on, but no matter how far the goblins went or how much they tried, eventually, they would always be all killed by invaders.
At some point, the goblins decided that they didn't just need to kill the invaders, they needed to know why they kept being attacked over and over again. So once again they built up their defenses and prepared to face a group of 9, which they were able to defeat only 3 of them surviving, and being captured.
Their emotions ranged from their deep hatred of invaders to curiosity about these beings that kept attacking them.
"Why?! Why do you invaders keep attacking us?!" Rakuia questioned her eyes burning with fury, hate, and disgust as it was obvious that if she didn't need answers, she would have already killed them.
"What is this goblin bitch saying?!" One of the invaders questioned in confusion.
"How the hell would I know?! Though honestly, she be looking kinda fine with those intense eyes, not gonna lie." Another one added.
"Both of you should be worried about us getting the hell out of here! This bitch is about to kill us? Also, disgusting man! A frikin goblin! That's filthy might as well do it with a dog won't you!" The last one pointed out.
"Nah, that's weird man, that's an animal, I ain't doing that." The second one responded.
"I think a monster is much more disgusting even if both are horrible." The third one declared.
As they were talking, Rakuia's patience, unable to understand them, ran out, and she decided to ultimately just killed them.
The cycle once again continued and the goblins just got used to it, until at some point, instead of the groups ranging from 4 to 12, 2 invaders came in just them.
"So this is the unusual goblin boss village... Seems pretty basic to me. Whatever, the point in burning it to the ground the rest doesn't matter." A young man with scarlet hair announced before moving to the village with an older man dressed in a suit, who seemed to be his butler.
The goblins tried to shoot arrows, magic, and whatever they could get their hands on, but a wall of fire appeared and consumed whatever they threw at him.
A smile appeared on the young man's face as he began to make a fireball and then he proceed to burn down the entire village every single goblin.
If it had ended there it would have been nothing new for the goblins, but this invader came back every three weeks to burn them down for months on end. Every single time the goblins were powerless and just accepted that they would die until it just became, unbearable.
That was the point at which Rakuia, went out and tried to beg for mercy as the goblins couldn't handle just constantly being burned alive, so she kneeled don't to an invader and.
"Please! Please! I beg of you to show us some mercy, existing like this... Knowing that sometime in the future you'll have to be burned down to death again and again and again! We just can't take it anymore! We don't care if the invaders kill us, but please at least do it less painfully... We'll even line up to be killed, just don't do this to us so continuously!" Rakuia had tears in her eyes as she threw away all the pride and hate she had, what mattered was that she had to end the suffering of her people.
"Wilson, what is this mutt saying?! Her voice is annoying and very unpleasant." The scarlet-haired young man, who was noticeably older than when he first got here asked.
"Young master, she's pleading for mercy and it seems they remember all the times you've burned them alive and can't take it anymore, saying that they will even line up to be killed if necessary so long as they aren't killed by your flames anymore." Wilson responded.
"Why would I care if monsters are suffering?... Though, I'm curious as to how far this mutt will go. Tell her to lick the sole of my shoe and ill think about it." He decided.
This was relayed to Rakuia, who was in shock that this man could talk to her when she couldn't understand any other invaders, but that wasn't the focus now, she would worry about it later. Instead, she did as she was told, and to save her people licked the sole of the young man's shoe, only to be stepped on and pined to the ground with a foot on her face.
"Hehehe! Disgusting!! My shoe's sole was licked by such a lowly mutt! Forget that... I was already getting bored of this anyway... Wilson, you'll teach those lowly mutts common language, the next time." The young ordered the burned Rakuia and every other goblin alive again.
Later, Wilson came back and forced the goblins to learn common language, the one used by all the common races, aside from their native languages.
In time they all learned regardless of if they wanted or not as Wilson far outclassed them too much, but he didn't kill them or even try to despite them attacking him a lot in the beginning.
"Mister Wilson... Why do invaders kill us?" Rakuia questioned.
"Because doing so makes them stronger. You see monster like you are hunted down for the exp you give to adventurers, the ones you call invaders, when they kill you. Though the reason why it keeps happening is that you live on the last floor of a dungeon called Goblin's Lair. So adventurers keep coming in hopes to use you as a stepping stone of sorts to reach a higher level." Wilson responded.
"That's it?... All this for that... Please just teach me more about the outside world!" Rakuia was disgusted and frustrated, but now was an opportunity to learn and she had to take it for her people, her feelings could wait.
So, Wilson taught her a lot of the basics of the outside world, changing Rakuia's worldview completely.
Once it was done, the young man came back.
"I'm Ophrit Rearto Rouge, the son of Duke Rouge, one like no other, and because of an incident, I was given the task of keeping this lowly place in check. So, for my benevolence towards you lowly beings, entertain me, by killing each other. I won't be satisfied until all of you are dead. The last one standing just has to kill themselves. Start! Or I'll burn this place down again." Ophrit commanded.
Knowing that the sadistic Ophrit, wasn't bluffing, the goblin village broke down into a battle royal until only Rakuia was standing, having to kill herself.
Then during the downtime weeks before adventurers would come again, an internal conflict broke our because of the battle royal and many believed they could do a better job at saving their people than Rakuia, so the battle didn't stop.
This eventually lead to a civil war that ended with Rakuia's side winning.
Later when Ophrit came back, he found it hilarious that the goblins kept killing each other after forcing the answer out of them. Then still made them go through another battle royally with the goblins left from the war.
Eventually, all goblins were back and amends were made though many still doubted Rakuia's ability to lead. They all prepared for Ophrit's return, but instead, they were met with a group of 12 adventurers just like before...
They fought and won, their hate for adventurers at an all-time high after what Ophrit did.
The cycle went back to normal and Ophrit never returned. Sometimes the goblins won, and sometimes they lost, but they never gave up as they hated adventurers too much to do so.
At some point in time, just like it had happened before only two adventurers came, which led to many panicking thinking that Ophrit was back, but it was a different pair, a young woman and young man, both moved towards their village calmly rather than the typical rush adventurers do.
"Hey! We don't mean any harm! We just want to talk." The young man said in goblin tongue while raising his arms up to signal no interest in conflict.
"It's as he says! We really just want to talk!" The young woman added in a similar fashion in goblin tongue.
Not believing them for a second the goblins began attacking, but their attacks bounced off the air before hitting them as if there was an invisible wall protecting the two.
This went on for unknown periods of time, then the two took camping outside the village doing their own thing and occasionally trying to convince the goblins to let them in.
In time, Rakuia remembering Wilson concluded that not everyone from the outside is completely horrible, and those two were very powerful, if they wanted to do something, they couldn't stop them so might as well get this over with already.
After being let in the two adventurers were led to Rakuia's office, where they sat face-to-face with her.
"What exactly do you two want from us?" Rakuia went straight to the point.
"First allow us to Introduce ourselves. I'm Zendrius Goldheart! A sage apprentice! Here to get a better understanding of dungeons as a whole, cause you see, it's not every day that cases like yours come to be and it's just not something we could pass on." Zendrius expressed full of energy.
"And I'm Dentria Alfull, also a sage apprentice! But unlike him, I actually have specialties, those being Monster and beast race studies, and Theoretical Magicraft Applications. So to be able to communicate with you is a blessing like no other." Dentria as enthusiastic as Zendrius smiled.
"Oh and before I forgot to mention it! We're students of the Great Sage Gustaf! The greatest mind of the Meshvenia continent... No! The greatest mind in Tefrat!" Zendrius smiled while puffing his chest out, followed by Dentria doing the same.
'These two... Aren't they just idiots?' Rakuia thought to herself.
