Vincent (the manager) left the office. The man seemed busy playing on his cell phone. He had a crooked smile on his face as he read the messages on his phone screen.
That time, Vincent was in the parking lot outside the building. It seemed there was something he was going to do from the way he acted, the man was combing around to see if there was anyone or not.
Then he turned his attention back to his phone screen. He was waiting for a call from someone, and sure enough, not long after that, his smile broke and he picked up the phone.
"Hello!" Vincent greeted.
"How? Is he already there?" asked someone from the other side.
Vincent smiled lopsidedly.
"Yes, he's already in the office. I told my hencher (Aaron) to pay attention at him," he replied.
"Hmmh... That's good."
That was the last word for a while. It seemed that the person who was calling Vincent was thinking of something to order for Vincent. It was still unknown who was talking to Vincent at that time.
"Listen! I want you to do something for me." The man spoke again.
"Make some trouble for Aiden! Then make him leave the company! Just make things flow!"
"Don't let him suspect you!" The mysterious person asked.
Vincent nodded in understanding. "Okay, I'll do it all very smoothly."
"You don't have to worry about it. Leave it all to me!"
"Okay, I'll wait for the good news later."
Then the telephone ended. Vincent thought of many ways to get Aiden out of the company.
***
After Vincent left the room, Aaron began to carry out his superior's orders. The man came to Aiden, who was still faithfully standing in front, and he looked arrogantly at Aiden.
"Welcome to our department, Mr. Aiden. I hope you can bring about a good change here."
"We know that you can work well and professionally," Aaron said arrogantly. His behavior is not much different from that of his boss.
Aiden only showed his flat face. He had expected to be treated this way on his first day.
"Yes, I will fully contribute to this company. Let's see how I perform!" Aiden said it proudly. He wasn't at all afraid of Aaron's words.
"Wow! It turns out that your work ethic is high too."
"Alright! Come here!"
"I'll meet you with a coworker who will be your partner." Then Aaron started to go first. Aiden followed Aaron.
They passed several workers there. Then, he stopped right at the table in the far right corner, near the window. A girl who was sitting there immediately stood up when the two men stopped in front of her desk.
"She will be your co-worker. You will work with her," said the man while pointing at the girl.
The man had invited Aiden into a separate room. The man sat on a chair.
"I know you're here because of someone's recommendation, but that doesn't mean you should relax and not pay attention to your duties."
"If you make a mistake, I'll make sure you get fired!" threatened the man very arrogantly.
He smiled lopsidedly after making that threat. Aiden did not take the threat seriously.
He could tell from the look on the director's face that he wasn't very friendly.
"I'll prove you'll be amazed by all my work," Aiden replied. He also showed a face not at all afraid.
"All right. Prove that!" The director seemed to select some of the documents that were on his desk.
After getting the document, he meant that the director handed it to Aiden. He said. "This is your job."
Aiden accepted the document and opened it to read. There were the words "cooperation contract with Sprefix Company." Aiden raised an eyebrow.
"How? Can you do it?" The director's tone was defiant.
Aiden was still silent, but the director's tone changed. "Now get out of my room and think about it with your co-worker!"
Without thinking, Aiden immediately left the room and walked towards his co-worker.
He put the document on the desk. The girl who was his co-worker was slightly surprised and got up from her seat.
"What's this?" the girl asked doubtfully. She was very awkward in the current situation.
"He said this is a job that we have to do," Aiden replied casually.
The girl immediately took the document and opened it. Her eyes moved left and right before finally widening. Then, she read it.
Her heart beat so fast. She was so shocked when she read "cooperation contract with Sprefix Company."
"This? Why must we do it?" She asked loudly like a voice about to scream
"I don't know." Aiden seemed to be taking his job lightly.
"Oh my god!"
"Before we get into all this, can we get to know each other first? What's your name?" asked Aiden as he sit down on the chair next to his coworker.
"I'm Ariana," the girl replied. He also sat back in his chair.
"Okay, Ariana. My name is Aiden." Aiden introduced.
"Now explain to me why you are so shocked after reading the document." Aiden asked.
Ariana exhaled her breath slowly. The girl was confused about where to explain everything. It was too difficult to explain to Ariana.
"I'll answer everything, but I'll tell you the reason why I was so shocked after reading the document."
Aiden nodded. She was ready to listen to all of Ariana's stories.
Ariana moistened her lower lip, then started to say. "So I'm actually still an intern here. I'm not a permanent worker here."
"So you can conclude why I was so surprised earlier. Before this, I only got ordinary tasks, but this? Isn't this a huge responsibility for an intern?"
Ariana exhaled after saying that. Aiden agreed with Ariana's words. Aiden also just found out that the girl is still an intern.
No wonder her reaction was like that earlier but they can't do anything. That is the task assigned to the two of them.
If they asked the reason for being given that task, the arrogant director would not answer, and Aiden was so sure about that.
"I don't know the director's reason for trusting us. But isn't this a sign that he wants to know how our performance will be?" said Aiden.
"Yeah, but... we're also in a very difficult position now."
"What do you mean?" Aiden frowned.
Ariana sighed again.
"Do you know about this Sprefix company? This company keeps refusing to cooperate with our company. It's the biggest company in this town. I hear our company has been desperately approaching the company, but no employee can do it, and they end up getting fired on the grounds that they are unable to carry out their duties properly."
Ariana paused her sentence for a moment before she continued her words because she was at a loss for what to do at that time. "You can guess what my explanation meant, right?"
"I'm still an intern here, and you're new too. This is your first day."
"But they put this big responsibility on us. Indirectly, they want us not to work here anymore. I am sure of it!"
Aiden understood all of Ariana's explanations. That time, he knew that this was the game Vincent and the director were working on.
