Chapter 29 - Love (1)

"...And that's what happened," Bulma finished, letting out a deep sigh as she lowered her shoulders.

The room fell into another heavy silence.

None of them had ever imagined that the joyful party they had almost a year ago would lead to a pregnancy—one that would make both Goku and Bulma parents.

Yamcha felt like crying.

Not only had Goku—a guy who was completely clueless about women—somehow become a womanizer, but he had also…

T-taken Bulma's virginity before I could…?!

Meanwhile, Krillin was completely stunned.

He had never expected his childhood best friend to become a father—and with Bulma, of all people!

Now he was starting to panic.

I need to get a girlfriend too!!

Tenshinhan, on the other hand, was simply in shock.

Even though Goku had spent less time training, his strength hadn't declined at all.

In fact, he was still just as strong—if not stronger.

I need to train even harder if I don't want to fall behind…

Akemi, who had been daydreaming about her childhood idol, now found herself… stunned.

Bulma hadn't been explicit, but from the way she described it, Akemi could picture it all too clearly—a drunken Bulma and an innocent Goku, caught up in the heat of the moment…

And then, there was Chi-Chi.

Unlike the others, she wasn't shocked.

She wasn't stunned.

She was furious.

"You tricked Goku!" Chi-Chi snapped, her voice rising with anger.

"You tied him to you just so he wouldn't be with anyone else! You've been selfish, giving him a responsibility that isn't his!"

She pointed a finger accusingly at Bulma.

Bulma's eyes widened in outrage.

"What the hell are you talking about?! I would never do that to Goku!"

Her voice was sharp, but deep inside, she felt a sting of guilt.

Because, deep down, she knew that Chi-Chi wasn't entirely wrong.

Bulma had given Goku a duty and responsibility that he never asked for.

She had dragged him into this unknowingly—knowing how innocent and naïve he was.

But then—

"Promise me you'll stop blaming yourself, Bulma. I was there too. I made that choice. And now, I have to take responsibility."

Bulma clenched her fists, remembering the promise Goku had made to her months ago.

No.

She hadn't tricked him.

It was an accident—a moment of fate.

Not a trap.

"Then how do you explain that Goku is going to be a father now?!" Chi-Chi demanded. "I'm sure he doesn't even want this!"

The tension in the room was thick.

Fusui, who was watching from the side, resisted the urge to grab some popcorn from a vending machine.

Just as Bulma was about to respond, Goku finally spoke.

"Chi-Chi… I do want to be a father."

Everyone's heads snapped toward him.

Goku's voice was calm, but there was no hesitation.

"I told you before… I'm staying by Bulma's side because I want to."

He looked at Chi-Chi directly.

"This isn't her fault. It's our responsibility. And I want to be there for her. So, there's no need to argue about it."

Chi-Chi opened her mouth to argue back—but then stopped.

She lowered her shoulders in defeat, letting out a deep sigh.

"...I'm sorry for what I said, Bulma," she finally admitted.

Bulma, still tense, relaxed slightly.

"Yeah… I'm sorry for yelling at you too," she muttered.

The two women shook hands.

Goku grinned.

He had no idea that, in the near future, these two women would become… best friends.

 ----

"S-so… you two are a couple?" Yamcha finally asked, breaking the silence.

Goku and Bulma looked at each other.

And unconsciously… they both smiled.

Tights and Fusui exchanged knowing glances.

It's time.

Soon, everyone would leave the room, giving Goku and Bulma the privacy they needed.

"Actually…" Bulma hesitated. "There's something I need to talk to Goku about."

She glanced around the room.

"In private."

Yamcha's heart shattered.

Tights grinned. "Accept it, loser. Goku's way better than you, and he's going to marry Bulma."

"Stop talking nonsense!" Bulma yelled, blushing furiously.

Krillin laughed, patting Goku's shoulder as he left. "You're one lucky guy, Goku."

One by one, everyone exited the room.

"I should go too," Akemi spoke up. "My mom's probably freaking out wondering where I am."

"Hope to see you soon, Akemi!" Goku grinned.

Tights winked at Goku, making him blink in confusion.

Was she scratching her eye?

Fusui chuckled. "I'll call your dad, Goku. We'll celebrate your tournament win later!"

Chi-Chi lingered for a moment, then finally walked out quietly.

She knew exactly what was about to happen.

She couldn't stop it.

She could only watch.

 ---

Alone at Last

The door clicked shut.

Now, it was just the two of them.

Goku smiled. "Heh, I didn't think you'd come… I was surprised to see you here—"

PLAP!

Bulma slapped his cheek.

Goku's eyes widened.

"OW! What was that for?!"

"You're a moron, Goku!" Bulma snapped, her voice shaking.

"Do you have any idea how worried I was during your last fight?! You almost died!"

She lowered her head, her voice softening.

"I… I couldn't bear to lose you."

Without thinking, she leaned into his chest, trembling.

Goku blinked—then wrapped his arms around her.

"You don't have to worry, Bulma," he said softly. "I'd never break my promise."

Bulma closed her eyes, feeling his warmth.

They stayed like that for several minutes, wrapped in each other's presence.

Then—

Bulma sat up, taking Goku's hand.

She looked into his dark eyes, her own filled with emotion.

"Goku…"

Goku tilted his head. "What's wrong?"

And then—

Bulma finally confessed.

She told him everything.

How she fell in love with him.

How she couldn't imagine life without him.

How she wanted to be his wife.

"I love you, Goku," she whispered, tears spilling down her cheeks.

Silence.

Then—

Just as she turned to leave—

Goku grabbed her wrist.

"Wait, Bulma."

She turned back—

And suddenly, his lips met hers.

Bulma froze—then melted into the kiss.

She wrapped her arms around him.

He held her close.

And in that moment—

She knew.

He loved her too.
