Chapter 10 - Chapter 4 Part 3

Everyone started laughing at Heathers joyful glee at the news she gets to see Heddwyn more often. Helga stops laughing and thinks for a few moments and states "oh fu—dge, no one has eaten today. I will prepare a feast to fill everyone's bellies" she starts to get out of her chair before Heddwyn stops her. "oh no you don't, I will make us a feast. You go and check to see if Christopher is awake"

As Sister sighs to Heddwyn's proposal, he gets up from his seat and heads to the kitchen while Sister goes to Christopher's room. Heddwyn put on an apron he grabbed from his spatial pouch and put his hands on his hips, thinking on what to do in such short notice.

A very clear idea appears in his mind as his tail started to sway from happy thoughts. He grabs his bag from the dining room and rummages around the bigger pocket dimension for an item.

The item that Heddwyn pulled out was an emergency famine scroll. These EFS scrolls are so difficult to amass and create, that usually only nobles and royalty have the capacity to buy one. Each EFS uses the mana of 100 mages to create. A feat almost no person is able to accomplish on their own. Heddwyn's mana pool is accumulative to 20 regular mages so Heddwyn must have bought one or stole one.

Father notices the scroll. "how did you come by one of those? Did you steal it?" he says with curious disappointment. "no!" Heddwyn hisses back. "I used a portion of the wealth my master gave me after he passed to buy one in case of emergency" He says answering the original questions.

"those can feed entire villages for a whole week, don't waste that on us Heddwyn" Father says, only knowing the fundamentals of the scroll's capacity.

"actually. Each scroll was designed to allow them to only use as much as a user wishes. Ugh how do I explain, you can use it multiple times, it's like it has its own mana pool that you can deplete till empty" Heddwyn explains.

"oh wow, so is that why they are so expensive?" Father asked again. "yes, 60 gold. The pool of mana cannot be refilled" Heddwyn whimpered. Father cringed at the thought of spending that much wealth.

Heddwyn rolls out the scroll and pulls out a mana quill from his bag. He starts pouring his power into the quill to start writing with it. The quill glided unlike a normal quill and didn't scratch, the ink of the conduit looked like a galaxy full of sparkles and swirling colours.

(narrator) wow, ive never actually seen anyone write with their magic before. It's awe inspiring, like I'm peering into the never-ending abyss of the gods.

Heddwyn listed off items he wanted to appear with his pen. Two entire Chickens, six portions of salad, a pitcher of gravy, hot steamed mashed potatoes, a pot of several varieties of stews, 3 large loaves of bread and a variety of cheese's such as cheddar bree and mozzarella.

He stopped writing with the magi core quill and the scroll started to spin and float. Each food item he listed started appearing in a puff of smoke on the table one at a time. After all the food was summoned, the scroll rolled itself back up in mid-air and plummeted with another quick puff of smoke. Heddwyn was ready to catch it. He opened the scroll to make sure the ink was gone. It was, completely and absolutely every drop gone, as if it were brand new untainted paper.

"there we have it, we have enough food now to fill everyone" Heddwyn said as he sat back in his seat, eyeing up the chicken.

"wow... Uh, ive never seen anything like that before. That was awesome" Haider said a frown forming halfway through.

Heddwyn forgot the two twins were in the room also sitting at the table, so he jumped and hissed as Haider started talking. "sorry Haider I didn't mean to hiss, you startled me don't get upset" Heddwyn apologised wanting to fix his mistake.

"that's not why I'm frowning" Haider replied.

"you didn't even notice we were even here and that hurt me allot. Am I really that forgettable?" the male of the twins said, tear starting to form in his eye's

(narrator) well, no easy way out of that predicament.

Heddwyn simply stands up and walk over to Haider sitting on the other side of the table and embraces him. "you're not forgettable in the slightest" he whispers. "I was really focused on feeding everyone, so I was lost in a little world marvelling in my creations. I mean you saw how beautiful mana writing is right?" Heddwyn comforts.

The light sniffles start to disappear as Heddwyn continued to hug him. Not from what he was saying, Haider had no clue what Heddwyn said in the slightest. It was from the warm, softness of the Nekojin's fur coat.

Heddwyn stops his embrace as Helga and Christopher enter the dining room. Both of their eyes widen at the massive display and gawk at all the food as they sit down.

Coming out of her trance she notices Heddwyn getting up from his knees. "did something happen?" she asks showing a bit of concern.

"yea, Haider got a little upset, so I decided to give him a hug, I hope I wasn't overstepping my boundaries" the kitty said. "no not at all. However, I'm a little mad that Father didn't do it instead" she says glaring at Father.

"hay I had no opportunity. Heddwyn already got up before I even registered what happened, I literally just watch food materialise in the air" he says back.

"oh, is that right? Wait did you say about something coming out of the air?" Helga said confused. "so, what exactly did you do?" she asks turning her head towards Heddwyn.

"I used some of the mana in a famine scroll" Heddwyn states.

"ah ok I get it now" she says simply.

Father starts to sweat at the realisation that she needed no further information on the matter. "is that all! Just, 'ah ok' and that's it!" he yells.

"you seriously didn't know any of what the scroll does? Even Christopher would know. All he would need to do is pick up a book on scrolls. You really are useless sometimes" she grunts. Father pouts and grunts back at her.

"as Father is having a good sulk, I will bless the mountain in front of us" Helga jokes. "I bless you in the name of the father. I bless you in the name of the mother. I bless you in the name of the spirit who moves through all things. I bless you in the name Nekojin who summoned the meal into existence. I bless you in the name of the scroll that makes all this possible. Amen. Ok everyone, dig in!"

The night goes by as the six of them stuff their faces full of various food while Heddwyn on the other hand sticks his claws into one of the chickens and chows down like a wild ani...

(narrator) ha never mind let's just keep going.

This causes everyone to have a good laugh, which Heddwyn ignores enjoying the well-seasoned chicken that he claimed. The feast caused a party to erupt, full of laughter that lasted till midnight.

Before that however the orphans go sleep mid meal, so they don't break curfew.

(narrator) I love the respect they have but couldn't they just have stayed up just this once. They are going have some upset tummies

The two twins say their good nights to the adults and head off to bed. Christopher on the other hand has had a deep scowl on his face all night, ever since he woke up from the sleeping spell. Heddwyn notices his frustration and waits for his to leave the room to talk. "we need to talk about Christopher" he says with a hasty whisper. Completely oblivious to what was wrong Father said, "wait what about him?"

Heddwyn answers his question "he had this frustrated look on his face ever since he woke up. I think he upset that he couldn't do anything to that Cleo woman"

He continues "we need to monitor him from now on. Teach him to channel his frustration into his strength, I think he is way too young to do that now. But we can't let this grow out of hand"

"*cough* *cough* I agree" Sister responded with earnest.

"really just like that? You're going to take my word for it?" Heddwyn replied

"why wouldn't we?" father said, shoving tats in his mouth.

"I mean, you literally just met me today" Heddwyn quickly said, breaking out in a sweat.

"ok, but not only did you save the kids of this church. But you also risked your life to do so. Oh, and can't forget that you already showed your sensitive side. But also showed how serious and strategic you are" Father said gulping down the food in his mouth and putting on a more serious and professional tone.

Heddwyn was pressed to come up with a reason why they couldn't trust him. "see, you're a great and trustworthy person, and we are honoured to have met you, I'm sure the shits starting to sleep in the back think just the same" sister said with a smile.
