"Zz... Keep your eyes open, don't rely on your gear as it could cost us our lives."
"Zz... Understood, Captain."
Troy's group is on a patrol mission on the outskirts of the base. Since it was known that they might encounter CRM scouts, even if the last communication was made in North Carolina, it is likely that there is a report made from Florida, which is why they came across CRM traces.
While Troy's group advances cautiously, staying alert for any signs of danger, he remains behind, surveying the overall panorama. As they venture into an abandoned neighborhood, they hear unsettling noises and whispers from walkers hiding in the shadows.
"Zz... Captain, there seems to be movement over there. What should we do?" A soldier reported through the radio.
"Be ready for combat. We're close to an infested area. Let's proceed with caution and stay quiet. If we encounter variants, we might not make it." Troy immediately responded as he readied his new weapon.
The team advances in formation, armed with Mark 2 rifles and pistols. The sounds of walkers intensify as they approach a street intersection.
"Captain, I see a group of walkers at the end of the street. They're approaching rapidly." a soldier reported while kneeling to get into a better position.
"Get ready. Fire at will." Troy said with a hidden smile behind his gas mask.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Bang!
Gunshots filled the air as the team continuously fired at the walkers charging towards them. The soldiers aimed for the walkers' heads, attempting to neutralize them quickly. Some walkers fell, but others kept advancing.
The three-round bursts tore through the walkers, with the bullets hitting two to three targets.
"Watch out, they're coming from the right!" A soldier on the side immediately reported.
"Form a circle! Maintain formation and don't let them get too close."
Following the order, the soldiers regrouped, slowly retreating while continuing to fire. However, some walkers got close enough to attack with their hands and teeth. The team instinctively drew their melee weapons and engaged in close-quarters combat.
"Be careful, they're all around us!"
Troy, who had brandished two long knives, shouted, "Don't back down! Hold the line and defend yourselves!"
The group fought bravely, stabbing and striking the walkers with their knives and machetes. The battle was frenetic and harrowing, with the team doing everything they could to stay alive.
"Captain, the exit is right there! Come on, we need to reach the base!"
"Keep fighting! We won't let any of them pass!"
Troy's group fought their way through the walkers, seizing every opportunity to advance. Finally, they managed to break through the horde and ran towards the safety of the border base, where the sound of gunfire and screams gradually faded away.
"We've reached the base! We're safe!"
The soldiers hurriedly entered the base, where they were greeted by other comrades who rushed to close the doors and reinforce security.
Reginald, who had arrived at the base after Troy's report, approached and immediately said, "Good job, soldiers! I'm proud of all of you. Now rest and replenish your supplies. You've overcome a tough challenge today."
"Thank you, Commander. It was a tough battle, but we managed to come out on top." Troy shook off the chunks of flesh on his body, and some flew onto Reginald's boots.
Troy's group takes a moment to recover, while some smile and say that even with their suits on, they still feel afraid of being bitten.
After the intense battle, Commander Reginald approached Troy's group with a smile on his face.
"Soldiers, you have once again demonstrated your worth! Your determination and skills are impressive. To aid you in your fight against the walkers, the S.C.T. has sent a special shipment of weapons. Get ready to meet the new Mark 2!"
The soldiers' eyes light up with excitement and curiosity. They gather around the commander as the base personnel unload the boxes containing the new weapons.
"Mark 2? What makes them special compared to Mark 1?"
"These weapons are equipped with a built-in chainsaw. It will allow you to cut and eliminate walkers more efficiently. Additionally, they have terrifying bullet capacity: high-capacity magazines that will enable you to fire sustained bursts. But remember, their use must be responsible and strategic."
"That sounds incredible! I can't wait to try them out."
Reginald smiled and said, "You'll understand it better when you have them in your hands! Now, take one and familiarize yourselves with it. Make sure to follow safety protocols and perform functionality tests before using them."
The soldiers get excited and rush to grab one of the new weapons. They examine them carefully, feeling their weight and exploring their unique features.
"Look at this chainsaw! It looks like a true machine of destruction."
"And these high-capacity magazines... Bigger than the P90. We'll be able to keep the walkers at bay for much longer!"
Troy squinted his eyes and pointed, "Remember, guys, these weapons are a tool for our survival. Let's make sure to train and use them correctly. We don't want to cause unnecessary harm."
"Of course, Captain. But I can't help but get excited about the idea of facing the walkers with these new weapons. I think our chances of survival increase significantly."
"I agree. It's reassuring to know that we have the support of the S.C.T. and these cutting-edge weapons. The walkers won't stand a chance against us." Another soldier responded immediately.
The soldiers continue exploring the Mark 2, adjusting their straps, examining the magazines, and admiring the deadly combination of the chainsaw with the terrifying bullets. The base is filled with new energy and determination as they prepare to face the walkers with these upgraded weapons.
"Remember, soldiers, these weapons are an advantage, but they must not make you lower your guard. Vigilance and strategy remain our best weapons. Now, let's train and be ready to face any challenge that comes our way."
With the new Mark 2 in their hands, Troy's group embarks on rigorous training and preparation. Confidence blends with responsibility as they eagerly prepare to test their respective new weapons.
