Chapter 240 - A Strange Scene

"We are under attack!"

Shooting!

Bang Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

"..."

The deafening roar of guns hovered over the surrounding area. At the Airon group's temporary posts outside Neil's base, heavily armed men and women held the guns tightly in their hands and kept squeezing the triggers, aiming at the crowd that came out from everywhere like red-eyed walkers and they were all shot.

There were not many of Airon's people in this place, they were all at strategic points ready to attack the camp that right now was attacking them, so they had to be careful as the number of the enemies was unknown.

As Airon, Shane and Sam ran out of the building, they saw the messy scene in front of them with confusion.

The three grabbed their weapons and ran towards the direction where the gunfire was the heaviest, wanting to help resist the attack of the enemies.

But when Airon and others stepped into the situation, they were surprised to find that, although the crowd around them was still firing, the expressions on their faces were extraordinarily confused and lost.

Seeing this, Airon frowned slightly and quickly grabbed the binoculars and looked ahead.

But when he saw the situation ahead, he couldn't help but secretly curse and said in a low voice, "This seems to be a fucking nightmare!"

It's just that in front of the battlefield, a dense crowd of enemies charged at the bullets with cold weapons in their hands. Like the Wolves, they were not afraid of the gunpowder in the cartridges.

But the vast majority of this group of people were old men, adult women and the occasional malnourished child whose physical strength was not strong enough to kill a rabbit. The dense bullets roared through the air and easily penetrated their frail bodies. One fell after the other and still they did not back down in the slightest.

But such a one-sided killing made the soldiers of Airon's group a little hesitant to continue firing. Although they had not killed old people and children in their lives, they could see that these people were no threat. Some of the many soldiers in the camp could no longer press their finger on the trigger of their guns for some reason.

"These bastards are crazy, they're just testing us."

Knowing that these enemies could pose no threat, Airon put down the binoculars in his hand and said to Sam next to him, "Looks like they want to know our firepower situation. We'd better tell our people to take it easy while a decision is being made."

He then looked at the people around him who were firing and continued, "Listen, it looks like we won't be able to sleep well today because of these images, these people are so crazy that they send their weakest people on a massacre when we are not their real enemies.... If all of them are willing to give their lives like this, I'm afraid we must make a decision based on our conscience."

"Kill, defend and live!"

After finishing speaking, Airon no longer stood here, such a one-sided massacre made no sense to see, and for some reason, his eyelids were still twitching, these images are really something pitiful to see and he really couldn't understand how there was a leader who sends his people to die like this.

...

Not much time had passed, about half an hour later, Airon's soldiers finished off all the enemies trying to attack them.

But the corpses of children all over the ground made many people who witnessed it couldn't help but shiver with strong emotions stuck in their chest, as if everything they fought for in this part of the world wasn't worth it.

Fortunately, Shane said a few good words to them to make these people feel better.

...

"We just have to wait until the people in the air can locate the sub, once we have it in our possession, we will attack the bases near the cult."

"We won't negotiate?"

"Do you think they want to negotiate when he sends children to their death like this?"

"No... I just thought we could make a change..."

Airon shook his head as he saw the assembled captains and said, "Return to your posts, I'm sure they will attack us once more and this time it will be different!"

"Yes, sir!"

Within the next few minutes they were again under attack again, this time it was people with guns. But the walkers who had been attracted by the sounds of gunfire coming from the enemy as they apparently had no silencers, were made very difficult to attack.

That desperate attack caused the people stationed in the buildings around the temporary camp to keep moving towards the main building where their area of operations was located, some of the less experienced ones were wounded by some arrows that hit them.

Obviously, with the situation in the surrounding area the enemy was not willing to fight such a prolonged war and they had no idea of the purpose of Airon's group, so they wanted to resolve the battle quickly and in the shortest possible time.

Such a fierce collision caused countless corpses to lie on the muddy ground, and scarlet blood flowed from the wounds, staining the ground red.

The pungent smell and blood quickly spread to the surroundings. If it wasn't for the battlefield where the enemies and survivors were united, and most of the walkers were driven away earlier by Airon's group, this place would already be full of walkers.

...

Bang! Bang!

"Don't keep moving forward, you'll die that way."

On the other side of the war zone, a soldier was running at full speed with a pistol in his hands through the streets, he turned around and fired a few shots into the crowd following him.

The man appeared to have companions, some survivors who were found nearby. Behind this group of people, more than a dozen enemies were following close behind, but the man leading the escaping survivors smiled slightly.

The large group of people was still moving away from Neil's base and unnoticed by the enemies, some figures in the buildings were aiming sniper rifles at them. All of these people were Airon's people, who were already making moves to kill the vigilantes who could cause problems for the helicopters in the air and of course, the people on the ground.

Seeing the survivors running further and further away from the base, the man leading the men who were chasing the soldier and the group of survivors sensed that something was not right.

Seeing that these invaders were still running, he thought this was not right as they kept running in a straight line without entering any buildings.

On the other hand, the soldiers in the buildings who looked at these so-called enemies serving the cult who were not afraid of life or death, could not mutter, "These cult servants are really crazy, how can they be so careless?"

Just as everyone continued forward, a completely black car parked in front of the survivors and this caused Neil's people to stop.

"What is this?"

This question flashed unconsciously in his head from many of those who were hunting the survivors, but then his body showed no signs of stopping. Just as he was about to run past toward the car where his prey ran, a cold light suddenly flashed, making him unconsciously squint.

Clark!

With the sound of light metal scraping flesh and blood, a plump head flew out, creating a burst of blood as it hit the ground. His eyes were filled with disbelief, as if he hadn't realized what was happening.

And the headless corpse still ran forward due to inertia, but fell heavily to the ground a few meters away. Blood gushed from the fracture, quickly soaking the ground.

From the large buildings, several people leaned out and with their gun muzzles pointed at all their enemies, they opened fire and shot at them.

"Ah!"

The survivors who were running for their lives were completely stunned by the scene before them, and one of them even lay down on the ground.

"They're my buddies, take it easy!"

After the initial shock, someone reacted quickly, picked up the gun in his hand and started firing continuously at those pursuers who were being slaughtered by the soldiers.

"Clear, we have a weakened area to enter the enemy base! Awaiting orders, sir."
