Chapter 66 - Six hours

Flower was awake and Daniel sat by her side hoping she'd unravel the mysteries of Serhunt Facility.

"The-there's something you need to know." She spoke with a stutter.

"Doctor, is it okay if..."

"It's fine Shark. Is it not the moment you've been waiting for? To find out the whole truth?" Dr. Carson questioned.

"I...I don't have much time left." Flower strained with tears. "Shark I'm really sorry and I'm afraid that your mother's body is still frozen in the facility. The one you buried wasn't your mother." She confessed.

"No!" Shark banged the table.

Flower whimpered softly as she travelled back in time to when Yara's kidney transplant was scheduled to take place.

"The patient died this morning prior to the transplant." Dr. Arizona informed Dr. Shaw.

"Time to consider plan B, you don't expect me to back out of the deal. We need the money." Dr. Shaw conceded.

"That's if you know the consequences of choosing to stab out biggest client in the back. This is no child's play, I hope you know who you're dealing with!" Dr. Arizona gave his colleague a death stare before walking out.

--

"You gotta be kidding me! How's that even possible?" Flower lamented.

"We just have to do it. Play along so he doesn't suspect anything." Dr. Arizona said.

"That's crazy! C'mon, man! That's his mother, his own blood we're talking about here." Flower tried to reason out with him.

"And you think I wanted this? It has already been decided and there's nothing I can do about it. I'm just sick and tired of being ordered around....something has to be done." Dr. Arizona sighed heavily as he wore his gloves. Flower peered at the sleeping woman on the bed and nodded disappointedly.

"I'm also tired of having to be around frozen bodies for God knows who they are."

"Then it's time we team up against our enemy. Imagine me being the owner of this place, I'll even treat you better." Dr. Arizona smirked.

"Seriously? I thought you were going to give everything up. Do something different for a change. Perhaps getting away from all the shit and giving your life a meaning."

"No, I still have miles to cover to achieve what have long been wanting to achieve. Why give up now when I have an opportunity to transform lives?" Dr. Arizona questioned her.

"Can't believe this...I'm out of here."

"You know what to do. One mistake, and you'll be answerable only to your old bedwarmer." Dr. Arizona jested as Flower sauntered to the control unit feeling guilty. On the other hand, Dr. Arizona got Vanessa ready for the transplant as Shark and his men made their presence felt in Shaw's Office.

IN THE PRESENT TIME

Tears clouded Flower's eyes as she narrated all the events prior and the six hours of Yara's kidney transplant.

Shark's phone buzzed and looking at the caller ID, he got even more agitated. Yara had been ringing him non stop but he didn't bother to pick it up. Even if he received her call, would he ever accept the fact that she was living because of his mother's kidneys?

"I'm so-so sorr..." Flower spoke with a stutter as her breath became haggard. The cardiac event monitor gave a sudden warning, an alarm, and even as Dr. Carson rushed to her side, she died willingly for the fear of having to live with guilt for the rest of her traumatized life.

"We lost her." Dr. Carson announced. "It's quite tragic that...."

"Don't even think about it....I need some time alone." Shark dismissed her.

"Call me whenever you need me." Dr. Carson expressed her concern before walking away.

Shark slammed the door so hard and punched the walls until his hands bled as his men outside worried about him. His phone kept ringing and the caller was persistent on bursting his phone with numerous calls.

--

"The most sensational and followed Instagram model, Carina Parker was found dead and her body dumped along the riverbanks of Aster River....."

"Damn, so young and beautiful....she didn't deserve to die like that." An inmate said after watching the news of Carina's death. The rest of the inmates turned their heads to look at one miserable old folk slouching at a corner, the former Mayor, Mr. Parker who was in his own world. Ever since he was convicted of fraud, his condition kept on deteriorating and no one had ever paid him a visit. A man who used to shave his moustache and wear expensive outfit was now in shabby clothes and seemed to have lost his mind.

Back at Shark's Villa, Yara and the maids watched the devastating news of Carina's death. Yara was feeling rather bothered by Shark's sudden disappearance and couldn't keep it at ease.

Davy on the other hand, jumped down from a Skyscraper due to the influence of alcohol and met his death. Life had become something meaningless without Carina, someone he betrayed but wanted to keep as a friend. They had gone through a lot together and he couldn't live on with the thought of his friend's mysterious murdering.
