Chapter 18 - The Man

There was an odd feeling she felt as she surfaced from Mr. Lockwood's office, it could have been the change in setting. However, to her senses she felt...lost. Almost as if the close proximity to his presence had left her feeling dependent on his company.

Shrugging off such dwellings, she diverted her attention to the darkened hue her vision had left in an attempt to adjust to the new light. Cursing the existence of Cesar as he ultimately decided to keep her working, she made her way to the place Lilith Luther was shooting.

Her ankles barely allowed her to move a step forward, as they were swollen from yesterday's endeavors. Successfully finding solace in reaching her location, she decided to take off her heels, too tired to fully concentrate on keeping them from making a sound.

Engulfed in darkness once more, Beatrice smiled as her eyes made contact with the only form of light in the room, her body at long last laxing as she eyed the woman at the center of everyone's attention.

Another actor quietly cueing his way into the frame of the camera, his previous posture transformed to a man enamored with the woman reciting a monologue to the audience.

'A bit cliché.' Beatrice mused.

Even so, she remained transfixed. Desiring with all her might to be in a similar position to the actress up on stage. Moving further into the room, she made certain to avoid any sort of activity that would distort the fine image they curated. Standing on the side wall, easy for Ms. Luther to take note of her accountability.

There. She waited.

Pinching herself in moments to keep from dozing off. Although not entirely working as the second she rested her eyes, they opened once more to an hour passing and her vision containing the facial features of Lilith Luther, whom eyed her with a grim expression.

Neon paint coated on her face, startling Beatrice to the core from her sleepy state of mind.

"Ms. Luther. Please go sit by the makeup station, you gave me quite a fright."

Guiding the young woman to her designated station, Beatrice was handed a cloth soaked with warmth, beginning the procedure of wiping the unwanted excess off the actress. Quickly gazing around the studio in attempt at finding Mr. Lockwood for their assigned client, looking back at her actress to inquire about the man's absence.

"He will not appear. My manager informed me that he has become busy dealing with other matters. A relief I would say, however I fear that his career is in danger, Beatrice." Lilith responded, hissing the last sentence into a whisper, her blue eyes darting back and forth to ensure that everyone surrounding was oblivious to her words.

"....What ever do you mean, Ms. Luther?"

"...Th-There was a man that came running out of the Pleasure House last night. He was in tears, Beatrice. Tears. I've never seen any man sob quite as violently as he. I digress, he came running out, his undergarments on his calves, whilst his arse was mixed with blood and fluid. Bellowing out of 'Rape' and 'Lockwood.' Earlier this morning, he spoke out to the press and managed to land himself on the front cover of the tabloid. I-I think...." She became silent right after, her words dying on her tongue as she analyzed her assistant's emotions. Although it wasn't as blatant when she began talking, with every word she spoke, her assistant's expression became filled with tears. Her plump lips quivering as her actions in wiping ceased.

"...Beatrice...Why are you crying?" She continued, gazing at her with concern.

Shaking her head to keep quiet over the matter she continued with her wiping, at last giving in to Lilith Luther's question as she appeared to not want to let go of the matter.

"M-Ms.Luther. I-I went to the P-Pleasure House last night...to re-retrieve my cigarette. I know...it was wrong of me to smuggle d-drugs onto Productions...but I simply co-couldn't bare to listen to you entertaining a c-client, I-I was planning on u-using it after work...I swear it..b-but I lost it b-back in the sui-suite. S-so I w-went back..." Her sobbing intensified, grabbing the attention of everyone around, as Lilith continued to eye her with sympathy.

"Sh. Bea, its ok. Go on, I won't tell."

Placing a hand to discreetly drag itself to swipe at her tears, they continued to persist.

"..M-Ms. Luther. The-The man a-at press...tried to-to...rape me. M-Mr. Lock-wood saved me."
