Yawn.
I blankly stared out the window letting my mind wander. Sitting in my designated seat.
...
"Okay!" The teacher exclaims.
I turn toward the front "Hm?"
"Does anybody know the answer?"
A kid quickly stands up "65!"
Not even close.
"That's incorrect"
"Anybody else?"
silence.
"Okay then, I will pick someone at random, so give me your best guess!"
Don't you dare...
"We'll start with Touma!"
Of course, it's me...
"48."
"Wow, good job Touma! We just started multiplication but you seemed to have grasped it pretty fast!"
"Thanks."
I let out a bored sigh and went back to staring out the window.
I swear...
"Since that was a pretty tough one, we'll try an easier one!"
School is...
"Now then, what is..."
So boring.
...
It wasn't my choice to come to school. I think to myself. I exceed in everything, but my parents still felt the need to send me because...
"We know how talented you are, but you need to socialize with kids that are your age."
They sent me here for that reason, but it's been so long since I've had friends of the same age that I don't know how to interact with my classmates, and I ended up intimidating them.
"...Touma, do you know the answer?"
"32."
"Correct once again. Good job, Touma!"
While some were scared because of my dark magic, others looked at me with awe from a distance because they felt I was some prodigy that they couldn't reach.
So far, since I started school, I've just been alone.
It's quite annoying, but whatever.
...
Lunchtime.
Making my way down the hall toward the lunchroom, with my hands in my pocket.
Well, at least lunchtime is still a thing for schools in this world, this is one of the only times during school when I can relax, even back in my previous life.
After walking through the doors, I'm met with an unusual sight.
Wow, the students are in here faster than usual today.
I quickly jump in the line securing my spot to get food.
Hopefully, I can still get a flower cake.
Flower cakes are essentially glazed donuts minus the hole, but 'flower cakes' are what they are called in this world.
I've eaten donuts in the past, but the ones they have in this world are softer and far more delicious, and it ended up becoming a daily thing for me to at least grab one.
...
"Sorry, we just gave out the last one."
"...I'll just stick with the regular lunch then." I say reluctantly while slouching.
Well, that's unfortunate... If I knew the lunchroom would've filled up faster than usual on this particular day, I would've hurried as well.
Anyways, speaking of a full lunch room... Where do I sit?
Usually, there's at least one free table for me or even a bench to sit on, but it's completely stacked.
Even the tables outside are-
"Hey, what's your problem?!" a student suddenly started yelling
"Hm?"
A tall broad kid with brown hair, who couldn't even button up his jacket because of his "Plumpiness", stood in front of a kid much shorter than himself who had white hair. What's going on here? I wonder.
"Oh, I'm sorry." The smaller student says in a weak voice.
"Why don't you watch where you're going!"
Ah, a cliche school bully scene.
"I didn't mean to bump into you."
"I'm pretty sure that kid is in my class." I muttered to myself.
"You should show some respect for your upperclassmen, you brat!"
Dude, we're still in children's school. Chill out.
"I already apologized, can you just let me go now?"
"What!? now you're talking back!" Shove!
"Gah!"
...
"huh? Why am I-"
"You okay, kid?" I ask.
He looks at me.
"Oh! Touma Winter. Yes, I'm fine."
I had cast my dark magic from my back acting as a separate limb to catch him.
"Here. I caught your lunch too."
...
"Oh look! it's Touma Winter." Some kids started whispering.
"And just who are you!?" the bully speaks up.
Seriously, can this kid just shut up?
"Who, me? I'm just a student who goes to school here." I respond.
"Yeah? Well, your friend needs to watch where he's going!"
"It was just an accident, relax."
"Don't address me so casually! Don't you know who I am!?" He says getting more agitated.
"I can't say I do." I reply.
"Tch, My name is Kieth-"
"Look I don't really care, I'm just trying to eat my lunch."
"Why you-" He began stomping toward me.
"Hey, knock it off you two!" A stern voice calls out from the lunchroom entrance.
...
"Look! It's the school principal!"
Huh. Wonder what brings him here today? Hope he wasn't looking to get a flower cake.
He walks up, looks at Kieth, and then at me.
"What's going on?" The principal asks.
Keith quickly begins arrogantly speaking "These two little-" "I..."
He turns back to Kieth.
"...Wasn't talking to you."
Kieth grits his teeth and backs down.
After shutting him up he looks back at me, waiting for my answer.
"Oh, this guy was harassing the kid behind me and shoved him." I answer.
"Is that so?"
"yes sir."
"Very well then. Kieth, please follow me to my office."
"But they-"
"Kieth."
"Ugh, fine."
...
So lame.
"Um..." The kid begins to speak from behind me.
"Hmm?" I turn around.
"Thanks for helping me, Touma."
"Oh... sure, no problem." I say.
If I remember right. His name is Sebastian.
"Listen." He spoke suddenly.
"What?"
"...How can I repay you?"
"It's fine, don't worry about it."
"Please, I want to pay you back."
Jeez, why is he so insistent? I just saved his lunch, that's all.
"Look, you really don't need to-"
After looking down, my eyes were now locked on his tray.
...
Noticing my locked gaze, he looks down and reads my mind.
"oh..." he lifts up the treat.
"Do you want my flower cake?"
I snatch it from his hand like I hadn't eaten in days.
"Yes."
With nothing else really needing to be said, I start walking away.
"Is that really all you want?"
"Yes, this will do just fine."I call out.
I still get my flower cake, after all, I prevail another day.
...
"Did you see that?! Touma stood up to Kieth!"
"Wow, Touma is so cool!"
"I know right, he's cute too hehe!"
"Aren't you in the same class as him?"
"Lucky!"
"I wish I was in his class too!"
The girls started talking and giggling amongst themselves in the lunch room...
"Tch!" Kieth expresses while clenching his fist.
"What did that kid say his name was?... 'Oh! Touma Winter'... Damn you, I'll make you pay for this."
...
Alas, I couldn't find an open table or bench.
So I sat on the roof, snacking on my flower cake.
