Chapter 11 - APPOINTED DAY

At last, the appointed day had come. The Girl from the East and the King of Lamias were on their way to the North. On their way, they discovered a lot had changed. They saw the new monument which had been used to replace the old monument of Amigo. Zeruta and the King of Lamias recognized this new monument as the statue of the King of Emins. Zeruta promised herself that she'll burn down this monument. Their journey took about 23 hours. When they got there, it was already late and they didn't want to attack immediately on their arrival, this was all part of the plan. They used the remaining few hours to study their environments; they were making mental preparations while on the top of a huge tree which gave them a good view of the palace. Towards dawn, Zeruta decided that they changed their location, the King of Lamias was thinking of the same thing too but he wanted to find out why she decided to change location. When they got to a shorter and less comfortable tree far ahead, the King decided to ask her, "Why did you decide to change locations?" He asked. Zeruta replied, "I've seen the King of the Emins, he doesn't look like a stupid man. This tree wasn't there when I last came here and also, since the King of Emins knows that I love using trees for my attacks, he wouldn't just keep any tree around the city except, it was a trap for me." "I decided that we change to this tree because he knows that I would never choose this tree" She finalized. "Wow, you are very smart. You act older than your age."The King of Lamias said. "I actually thought the same way but I wanted you to make the decisions".Finally, it was dawn. The taskmasters started coming out with the slaves, the business and daily activities continued. The King of Lamias saw how his people were being maltreated by the task masters, but he couldn't let his feelings get into his head. If he did anything rash, it would lead to the destruction of himself and Zeruta so he had to stay calm. Just as Zeruta and King Lamias were preparing themselves for the next action to take, booom!!! The tree that Zeruta and King Lamias were staying the previous night had been shot. The Emins pattern was simple. Every day, they shot that particular tree and replaced it with another, thinking that perhaps one day, The Girl from the East would climb that tree and be destroyed. But it seems like it was not going to happen anytime soon. The King of the Emins came out that day, he announced to the slaves, "For a long time, you all have been working so tirelessly, today, I'll give freedom to five persons" "The five most hardworking persons would get freedom". The sarcasm in the King's words were so obvious but the slaves didn't care. All they wanted was freedom. After about two hours of working, the King came back and watched them.He pointed at five slaves who he claimed was going to get his 'freedom'. The five persons were all related to the King of Lamias. The guard moved the first person to the King of Emins and the King brought out a gun. The King then said, "For your diligence and hard work, I grant you freeeedom!!!" "aaaaaaaah!!!", the slave shouted and fell down dead. The guard moved the second person and the three other slaves became scared. Before the King could kill the second person, arrows began raining from the sky. It was The Girl from the East. The King was forced to shoot his gun to defend himself from the arrows which were coming at him, if he wasted any nanosecond, it would have caused serious lethal damage to him. Zeruta came out from hiding; she knew the time for hiding was over. And she started attacking, while she was attacking, the Emins tried their best to defend themselves. The King of the Emins went straight to the palace, he was confident that his men would be able to defeat 'The Girl from the East' since she was alone; little did he know that King Lamias was with her. As soon as he left, the King of Lamias followed him secretly, hoping to defeat him. Once the King of Emins got to the Palace, he went to his throne and sat down; he was waiting for the dead body of Zeruta. The King of Lamias killed the two Palace guards and made his way into the Palace. The King of the Emins saw the King of Lamias. "Hello old friend. It's been such a long time. Come on, sit down let's have some tea" the King of Emins said gesturing to a pot of tea by his side. The King of Lamias replied, "I'm not here for tea, I'm here for my people. Release them and end this foolish war of yours". The King of Emins laughed so hysterically. The King of the Lamias was so irritated with the actions of the King of Emins. "Then, you leave me no choice", after the King of Lamias said this, the two Kings entered a fierce battle. As expected, the King of the Lamias was having the upper hand, but the King of Lamias discovered something. It seemed like he was having the upper hand but he himself knew that he wasn't. It seemed like the King of Emins had grown really stronger than him. puaaaah!!, the King of Lamias had spit out a mouthful of blood. He was injured by the King of Emins sword. The King of Lamias was about to die, but as a King, giving up was not an option; he continued fighting and kept on releasing blood from his mouth. His complexion had changed from one of a fair man to that of a reddish man. His cloth was full of blood, it seemed like he had bathed in a pool of blood. The King of Emins admired the determination and courage of the King of Lamias, but he was still an enemy, not wanting to waste time on the King of Lamias, he used his gun and shot the King of Lamias dead. That was the end of the battle, at last, there was peace and quiet in the Palace. The King of Emins went back to his throne and as he was about to sit down, an arrow struck the throne. Zeruta was back.Zeruta had battled thousands of Emins warriors, she was severely injured but her determination and anger made her feel no pain. She was walking like a mighty mountain which didn't waver and for the first time, the King of Emins saw death knocking at his door. He was scared but he refused to show it, the time to battle The Girl from the East had come. This battle would determine the fate of the Ancient Country of Amigo. Zeruta knew this and so did the King of Emins; due to this knowledge, he decided not to try anything stupid nor waste any second in destroying her, he immediately loaded his gun and shot her; 'booooom!!!' that was it, she was dead. She fell down, just close to the dead King of Lamias. The entire palace was filled with smoke from the gun shot. The King of the Emins, satisfied with his accomplishment decided to call all the slaves and the few remaining warriors whom Zeruta had spared and had a feast at the centre of the City. While all these was going on, two people were busy in the palace. They were pouring all the gun powder reserves in the city into water. They knew that this action of theirs would neutralize the effect of the gun powder. After soaking drums of gun powder into water, they lit the palace on fire. The King of the Emins saw his Palace burning down, he was dismayed. "Who are those in the Palace?" he asked angrily but no one could give an answer since they were all at the feast. After some minutes, the palace exploded due to the mass of gun powder which was contained in the Palace. The smoke from the Palace got to the place where the feast was being held. And out of the smoke came out two bloody looking people; a man and a girl. They were limping but the grace and rhythm with which they limped made it seem like they were royals who were taking their time to move. Every step they took made the King of Emins shudder in fear. He recognized the duo coming as the people he just killed; 'The Girl from the East' and 'The King of Lamias'. The King pulled out his gun and shot The King of Lamias and Zeruta consecutively. The duo fell down, but that wasn't the end, they weren't dead yet. They got up again, amidst the smokes which filled everywhere, they kept on moving, before the King of Emins could reload his gun or take another action, two arrows had gone through his body. The King of Emins fell down and was about to die; he was gasping for breath. "How, how did you do it?" He managed to utter amidst stammering. Zeruta replied, "You had your chance to change but you refused to, you had excess power and you let that power corrupt you. You thought you were a wise King, who always had your way, but here's the truth; you have been outsmarted
