Emily frowned at the urgency in Ace's voice but before she could ask, he cut the call. It didn't pass her sharp observation that he sounded like he was slightly out of breath. Did he get into trouble? What did he uncover? She asked herself.
But she wasted no time getting up from her seat on one of the chairs in the hospital waiting room. Every 5 minutes or thereabouts she would wander to the floor where Sarah slept and every time she saw Edgar's boys keeping watch. None of them looked like they were ready to take a break. She could walk up to them and tell them she was a friend of Sarah's and had heard the news of what happened to her but she didn't want to chance her neck getting snapped. They didn't exactly look like a friendly bunch.
Even now as she stared at her reflection in the bathroom mirror she wondered how to go about the new assignment Ace gave her.
"Get Sarah out of there."
What was it that was so urgent that he needed her to do that?
