CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE
Mark Conely
MARK HAD WORKED HARD on his recovery for three long years, with no rest on weekends and holidays, even on his birthdays, there he was doing the exercises closely recommended by Marina.
With his violin, everything was in the most perfect order, just a few arpeggios that he still couldn't perform, but that was the least of it, the important thing was that he returned to composing songs and de-stressed, because the treatment was almost torture, and he needed to a minimum of emotional comfort, in your case...
Playing your precious violin...
Marina Herrera helped him tirelessly, Mark was a challenge he ardently wanted to overcome. She used it as a thesis for her doctorate, and as expected, her thesis and research were accepted with praise by the examining board.
The only thing she wasn't expected to do was fall in love with Mark.
AT FIRST, MARINA thought it was impossible to fall in love with someone like Mark, he was famous, rich, reasonably handsome and in a wheelchair, everyone, without exception, would think she was only interested in his money, but with the constant successes in Mark's recovery, especially when he saw him playing his violin for the first time. It was then that Marina realized that she couldn't resist that feeling anymore.
Mark, in turn, was only aware of Marina's feelings when she was on his lap kissing him, he was so focused on his recovery that he didn't even notice the things that were happening around him or inside himself, as he responded to the her affections in the same proportions.
For the first time in his life he felt connected to someone other than Josie and he felt happy, it was as if he'd managed to beat a drug.
HIS WORKOUTS WERE being recorded to be featured in specials about the human body on various television stations, mainly about his return to the stage.
Mark had authorized that, because he wanted to help people in the same conditions, he knew that as a famous person he needed to leave a legacy, and that was the right motivation for him to further leverage his career. Several artists wanted to record with him on a new album, they made a kind of modern We Are The World to help children who needed orthopedic devices in less favored countries.
Marina was impressed with Mark's willpower, humility and persistence, whether with himself, with the press and especially with her, he didn't complain about anything, had focus and strictly followed what was told to him, she's never seen someone so indoctrinated and dedicated as he was.
— I had to have a lot of discipline to learn to play the violin, now I have to be disciplined to walk again, deep down, it ends up being the same thing, just with different interests.
Marina realized that what he was saying was logical, sometimes the motivation is wrong and not the treatment and decided to write a book about it.
IN THE BEGINNING, the relationship was VERY peaceful, the press didn't know anything about them, after all, they were discreet in everything, even too professional, but no one knew how the press found out, from that day on the relationship started to live a little hell of flashes and paparazzi wherever they went.
Marina did not want media involvement in their relationship.
They could find out the truth...
