Chereads / The Duchess Must Hide Her Powers / Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

"Do you have any wooden swords? I wanna train swordmanship and archery" Zeianna asked to the Edwards Knight. Actually there are two troops in the Edwards Manor. The Guards of the house of Edwards, and the Edwards knights.

"We have many stocks of them my lady" the Knight represented the storage room and all of swords, each and every kind, and also its bows and arrows.

Zeianna observed what and which sword is better to use. Her gaze caught the attention of that red sword, with a red heart gem, surrounded by round red gems on it.

It has black linings on the blade of the sword, and its handles where the expensive gems are located.

"I want that" she pointed at the beautiful red sword. "but lady—"

"I said I want that? Clear?" the Knight nodded and gave the stunning sword to her. It was heavy, but she managed to to swing it without having an injury or hurt anyone or damaged anything.

She walked out of the storage room and swing the sword, and now she pointed it at the dummy.

From everyone, it seems that she excels in swordmanship, as she swings and slashes the dummy, everyone from the Edwards knights clapped their hands and congratulated her.

It was her instinct who did it, not her true self.

"I didn't knew you excel at sword fighting" Clara giggled while her head is leaning on her shoulder. They're walking in the capital, together with their maids Julia and Farina.

As they stopped by into a noodles restaurant, they decided to sit down and the maids ordered their food using Clara's money.

"20 Karases for two beautiful noble ladies" the chef smiled as he served the two bowls of noodles in the tray, given from their maids, they start thanking them and start eating.

The middle class styled noodle restaurant is filled with glorious decorations, and a bowl with sweets and money, symbolising good luck in Hamelia empire and a black cat which symbolise removal of evil and source of light in a dark day.

She thanked the vendor for such a great meal, as they got out again, only to bumped on the... Crown prince of Rufino.

"Dear heavens, such a small world to saw you my lady" he smirked. She smiled. He kissed Zeianna's hand which irks her insides. "good thing I saw you in here, we are doing fine, your highness" she smirked, already looking down at him.

The prince chuckled a little. "well, someone told me that you became excellent in swordmanship. I never heard of it that you handled an armor and cut it like shreds"

He whispered to her ear. "or maybe it's all a fabricated lie" he said.

Her fist curled up. "maybe having a duel will be a prove that I excel to it"

He whispered again something on her ear, leaving her eyes widen.

If the prince is so confident to see her being down, hen she will never let it happen.

Victory or defeat. That would be all.

"Is he a crown prince of Rufino?" Clara asked as they step foot of the mansion. Zeianna nodded as the servants greet them.

"Then what does he whispered to your ear and leave looking like a jerk?" she hissed. She ignored it at first.

But when Clara repeated the question over and over again, she spoked. "he wants me to concede defeat on the duel"

"What? Why? You are his fiancée, he must support you even though your going to have a duel with each other, not telling you to stop and accept your defeat!" she said, vibrantly looking at her with anger.

"Clara, you must understand"

Her anger slipped after her friend said something. "understand... What?" she asked.

Zeianna sat down on her bed, looked down.

"He hates me. And he will do anything in his power to put me down"

"My, my, duke Victorino, are you here to see my daughter again?" the marquees welcomed the young duke as he put the flowers in the center table.

He nodded as he wait for her fiancée. A lady whose hair is as white as diamond, eyes that are orange as the shade of the sun, wearing a blue dress, accompanied by a maid.

"Leave us for a while, Yin" she said, the maid named Yin do what her lady said.

"It's been a while, Adelaide" the duke smiled. Unlike before, Adelaide never smiled as ever, which worries him.

Adelaide looked down, fingers intertwining with each other. "what's wrong?" Victorino asked with fading smile on his face.

Adelaide smiled. "nothing" she smiled to remove his worries.

But her eyes says something that he couldn't understand.

'Adelaide, is there something that I don't know?'

"As of now, the major business are doing their best to rise their merchandise, the nobles are starting to improvise the way of trading between countries. There are only 30% of trading between Hamelia empire and Enrico empire, one of the rich empires after Rufino empire" started by Victorino. Zeianna sip a cup of tea.

"However, it seems that the empire's full dedication is on... Rufino empire?" she asked. "anything wrong lady?" the duke asked.

"The reason why this empire doesn't improve... Is that the empire didn't participate in international trading. I know that trading is a central to ending global poverty. But I hereby suggest to the emperor to stop being finicky and trade with other countries"

Zeianna looked at him, she raised her left eyebrow. "what?"

Victorino gasped. "n-nothing" he said, and he covered his face after he stared at her eyes that is busy scrutinizing the papers. "I know that kind of style of yours"

"I'm engaged to the crown prince, duke Victorino Edwards, as you were also engaged to lady Adelaide De Claro, please stop doing this"

"That's why I'm sorry" he apologized. "forgiven"

As Zeianna strolled at the capital, she sighed.

"I miss home" she mumbled. She remember what will happen five years in the future.

Her beheaded, her head falling down as people are feasting for her demise.

"My lady, are you alright?" the maid who accompanied her, asked. She just nodded.

She got herself on a souvenir shop. She bought an expensive set of teacup and a high quality papers and supplies for her father.

She also brought a novel for her to read, until another hand wants her to grab the book.

A lady with a white diamond hair color, and orange eye orbs.

They stare at the eyes of each other, as her hand is touching the book, Adelaide's hand is touching hers.
