I look back up at the stairs, expecting Giovanni to be scowling at me just like he's been doing the past few days, but he's not there anymore. A quick scan around the area tells me he must've already left. Did he know it was my birthday? If Irene is here and she doesn't look mad, he must've given an okay, right?
For the rest of my shift, I don't see him. I also don't hear from Lucy anymore, and Bryce says his migraine is acting up. I can't say I'm not disappointed because I am, but I'm not mad; headaches can be real bitches. However, is that excuse enough that he even forgets about my birthday? Not even a greeting? I expected to see him tonight, so I didn't bother when I didn't hear from him the whole day, knowing he was training.
