Two days earlier, Gobby was walking around the lake enjoying the peaceful atmosphere of the forest when he heard a giant *splash* and to his right a massive geyser was shooting out of the lake rocketing water into the sky.
Gobby was instantly frightened and sprinted in the direction of the dungeon looking for safety, however by the time he had got there the lake had got still, not even ripples of the event showing on its surface.
He paused as his courage grew slightly he walked back to the lake with slow steps ready to take off running at the slightest sight of danger. He peered into the lake and tried to see what had made that giant splash.
And the sight he saw nearly made him piss himself! He saw a giant shadow swimming beneath the surface and he screamed "Ahhhh!" running away completely scared out of his wits.
He ran to Gobble upon which he reported what he had seen explaining what had happened.
"Gobby you are scared of everything nowadays, you are even scared of fish now?" Gobble looked at him with disappointment.
"No! It wasn't just a fish, it was huge! Like the size of some of the trees in the forest!" Gobby tried to motion with his arms to emphasize how large the shadow he had seen was.
Gobble rolled his eyes before he said "Alright let's go see it then" as they walked towards the lake, a few wolf riders following them to see what the fuss was about.
"Gobby you sure you didn't see a log floating in the lake or something" A goblin snickered
"Knowing Gobby that is probably what he saw, then got so frightened he passed out!" another laughed.
Gobby was fuming at this but continued walking towards the lake to show them what he had seen. His anger was also dissipating the closer they got to the lake as his fear was growing.
He stopped kind of far from the lake as he said "I won't show you, but you can go check for yourselves. There was something in the lake."
They all rolled their eyes as they walked to the lake looking inside to see if there was anything in the lake. They looked for around a minute before one of them said "Gobby, where is this shadow?"
"I don't know! Go inside and find it!" Gobby was not going anywhere near the lake.
The goblins decided to jump in the lake then to get a closer look, they began to dive into the lake swimming towards the bottom trying to find anything that could resemble a shadow that Gobby could have seen.
As they were swimming none of them were seeing anything, but in order to humor Gobby they decided to look for a few minutes before calling it quits.
One of the goblins was diving near the bottom of the lake lazily swimming around pretending to be searching for something when he heard swishing sounds like someone was swimming near him.
He turned his head to see who it was and saw a long black figure swim past him the strength of the wakes in the water it was making causing him to tumble in the water multiple times.
The goblins eyes widened in fright as he began to ferociously swim towards the surface of the water. He broke the surface of the water and screamed as he paddled to the edge of the lake.
He crawled up on the shore gasping for breaths because he had just had what he assumes was a near death experience. Although he was not even injured, the fact that he brushed up against a monster like that was enough for him.
At this point the other goblins noticed his predicament so they started to swim towards the end of the lake. Gobby was watching this from afar and decided that this was his time to leave so he left without even looking twice at the lake not wanting to be near it at all.
Gobble came to the edge of the lake as he said "What's the matter with you?" looking at the goblin gasping for breath.
"I saw it! I saw the shadow! Gobby was right!" the goblin said in between breaths
"You saw it? Well what was it?" Gobble said, looking at where Gobby had left.
"I don't know, I only saw a large shadow as it swam past me! I couldn't get a good look at it" the goblin explained.
Gobble thought for a moment before he said "Alright Looks like we need to go fishing!" a smile creeping onto his face. He always loved a challenge, and hunting a monster fish was a big one.
He began to order the goblins to pan out as they began to enter the lake once again, this time with weapons at the ready in case of any attacks. However this was uneventful because after searching for another 20 minutes they found nothing.
They took a break before continuing their search and for the rest of the day they found nothing. Eventually they all assumed, even the goblin who it had happened to, that it must have been his eyes playing tricks on him. As for how he was thrown into a tumble? Maybe he was just panicking.
They gave up their search and thought nothing of it, until the next day when a goblin who was fishing saw a giant shadow swim towards the surface of the lake as it caused a huge splash obviously making large movements under the surface.
It was at this point that the goblins knew there was definitely some monster living inside of the lake. Gobble and Goblette began to have goblins stand watch and forbid anyone from going in the lake because they didn't want any casualties. They would wait for the master to come back because they had no idea how to catch a monster that big that was hiding in a lake.
