Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Shopping in Vale

"Alright I take it back this was a terrible idea" Mitch yawned loudly his sunglasses covering his eyes "Seriously I didn't think it could get this sunny" "Yeah I feel it burning onto my skin" Ania grabbed Mitch's leather jacket and wrapped it around her arms to shield herself from the sun's rays. "Yes this is what we humans call morning" Alan sarcastically commented staring at both of them who appeared to be acting more like vampires than humans. "What I burn easily!" "And I just hate the heat and waking up early" they both looked up to see Tom had raced ahead of the group eagerly looking left, right and centre at all the huge buildings and preparations that were being done to the city of Vale.

"I have to admit this city is pretty damn huge" Mitch looked up at the giant buildings towering high into the air all closely placed together leaving only a narrow walkway for people to walk along. They were currently at one end of the commercial district so various shops were lined along the street walkway from dust shops, weapon shops to book shops as well. They had already passed through the industrial district and there was still 3 other districts left to explore. "Ohhh we should check out the various dust stores they have around I want to see if any of the dust my parents distribute is in their stores. "He's acting like a kid in a candy store" Ania sighed as she saw Mitch staring at the food stores eyes glittering "I must be the only non idiot on this team".

The door to one of the dust shops in the centre of the district clicked open as the man behind the counter looked up to see a tall stocky man stroll in wearing a cloak that covered his face followed behind by three men wearing black trench coats. "Can I help you?" the store owner asked glancing over towards two security guards standing at the door as the man looked up from behind his cloak and grinned "Why yes you can help me."

"Can we just check out one more dust store before grabbing some food" Tom eagerly asked Mitch who was busy sulking at the fact he wasn't allowed to eat until their shop browsing was finished. "Fine but make it quickly" he grunted just as the shop Tom had spotted from further down the road burst into flames and was wracked by a giant explosion.

The glass shattered as four men wearing all black one with a cloak and the other three in a trench coat casually stepped out like everything was normal. Each was carrying a sack over their back filled with a mixture of dust and lien. Due to the explosion the man wearing the hood had his face exposed as it became apparent he was perhaps leader of this group, he stood at a whopping 6'6 with a muscular build while his white blonde hair was slicked back and his cool blue eyes stared around the square at the people watching on while he casually chuckled to himself.

His clothing became more apparent as the wind and sunlight revealed underneath the cloak he wore a red shirt with black jeans and combat boots. Inscribed on the breast of his cloak along with the three other men's trench coat's there was a red fox while a black gauntlet with a long thick blade was attached to his wrist.

"If this is your best security no wonder you were robbed so easily" he calmly said to the men lying at his feet as he kicked one of them before looking up to see four teenagers staring at the carnage he had inflicted. His eyes immediately rested on Ania as he grinned "Why if it isn't my no good daughter how have you been?"

Ania completely froze in place unable to move while both Alan and Tom turned to her "He's your father?" Mitch on the other hand was glaring at the man as he recognized that face and smile from his nightmares standing over the bloodied corpses of his family as he calmly pointed to them "Hey there little buddy were these your parents?"

"BASTARD!" he roared leaping towards the man unsheathing Ashura as he launched a giant fireball followed by a rapid barrage of smaller ones. "Erm this is the first time I've seen Mitch lose his cool" Alan said as his team stood there watching as he reigned fiery hell down upon the man before finally clicking his fingers and creating a giant explosion.

"Huh I expected my daughter to react like that not some puny runt" the man said walking out of the smoke as Mitch grit his teeth and leapt towards him slashing Ashura through the air aiming at his throat. The man nimbly lunged back avoiding each slash before finally catching the blade with his bare hand "I suggest giving up now" "You bastard don't you even remember me?" "Hmmm not really" he said landing a punch to Mitch's face and sending him crashing onto the ground.

"Hey they're trying to steal from that dust shop" Tom only just noticed the bags they were carrying as Alan looked around to find none of the law enforcement officers were arriving as he pulled out his tonfa's "Well I guess it's up to us future hunters to help bring them to justice" "Couldn't agree more". "Deal with those pests while I go have a heart to heart conversation with my daughter" the man spoke over his shoulder to his three henchmen as they each pulled out a sword from inside their trench coat and started advancing towards Alan, Tom and Mitch.

Strolling past Mitch who was face first in the concrete the leader felt a hand grab his ankle and looked down to see Mitch was grasping on "Where are you going" he feebly spoke picking his face from the gravel as the man sighed and waved a hand over his shoulder as his henchman flew in and kicked Mitch straight in the stomach toppling him over as he lost his grip and the man resumed his walk towards Ania who was staring at the ground shaking uncontrollably.
