Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: The last two!

"Everyone watch! Go to the window, and watch the show. Don't worry. They can't see you all. For all, there is the black stainless window, and with that, I welcome you to the Failing Ark project" The remaining people walk over to the window and look down at all the children standing in a line.

.....

"Congratulations, out of all the classes, yours was the last, the tearing, pain, murder, and change. You guys have gone through many treatments enough so that you could probably not even be considered human. Saying this, you are almost fully treated, almost done, if you will. There is one thing left that you have to do! Look at the ground as the weapons come from the dirt path; you will see only melee weapons. Grab all you think you will need to go against your fellow classmates. Afterward, I will give you all 10 minutes to place yourselves somewhere within this room, maybe call it to hide in seek? Hahaha, either way, good luck!"

Sho looked in front of him with the floor caving on itself. The remaining part of the dirt path was gone, replaced with a wall stretched as far as the tallest kid holding a series of weapons. Knifes, shields, swords, axes, spears, maces, clubs, throwing knives, even one wooden bow with a stack of 26 arrows surrounding it, and more.

As a royal command, the kids cleared out the racks with all the weapons. Sho got lucky and grabbed the only wooden bow with a stack of 26 arrows around it. He then grabbed a combat knife and put it in his right pocket. He looked over to his right to see what Hiroto was grabbing. Sho almost threw up a mouthful of blood when he saw Hiroto holding only a simple plain knife, a little bigger than a pencil, in his right hand. His left hand held four puncture needles in each web of his fingers, with one more in his pocket.

"Hiroto, you can't be serious! The only weapon you'll be using is just a little knife and puncture needles." Hiroto only shook his head yes to Sho's question, still having the doll's face impression. Sho's mouth opened wide. He would probably break out in laughter if this were anyone else, but Sho only felt rage as if Hiroto was trying to kill himself!

'Calm down, this is Hiroto we're talking about, and he must have a plan in mind. There's no way he would just throw his life away.' Sho took a deep breath calming himself. Hiroto can only think logically; currently, he has no feelings. There's no way he would choose a knife as his main weapon for no reason.

"Would you please at least grab one more knife, perhaps a combat knife?" Like a command, Hiroto reached down and grabbed the closest combat knife. Taking his pencil knife tore a line of cloth out from his shirt, creating a small loop and putting the knife in the middle. Hiroto tied the remaining cloth around his waist, creating a holder for his combat knife.

Sho looked around and saw that the other kids were dressing themselves in weapons. Others were grabbing a variety of weapons multiple spears, swords, shields, knives, and so on.

The people watching down were all amazed; how could they not be? How heavy are some of these weapons, with ten-year-old kids holding them as if they were nothing? Both the grandma and grandpa were smiling, watching their creations getting admired by the rest of the crowd, but this was all unknown to the kids.

Hiroto and Sho were the first ones to finish. The metal door that was behind the kids slowly started to close.

"SCREECCHHH."

Before, the metal door was screaming, but now it was as if it was the beacon that everything was about to begin.

.....

"Now everyone, if you are ready, we shall begin the grand-opening premier. Choose an area where you can watch them fight, and yes, there are several cameras. So, if you wish to re-watch this fight, you can, or show whomever you want. While we watch the fights, I'll be explaining their treatments and what that might include." Everyone's excitement seemed to boil over Doctor Shiro Ishii's words waiting for the next moments.

Doctor Shiro Ishii's once again hopped back onto the speaker not delaying such a good mood everyone was having, with the red bottom by his side.

.....

"Welcome, welcome this room is the final room most of you will ever be in. Saying that ready stance!" Doctor Shiro Ishii's voice got loud and lively at the end, but no one cover their ears. Instead, they all got distance from each other, making no room for a blind spot. Only Sho and Hiroto stayed together when they separated from the remaining group. Everyone else was on an island by themselves, several feet from the next kid.

Sho and Hiroto rushed to a corner of the room, immersing themselves in the tree biome. As they moved away from the weapons rack, Sho noticed that the dirt path was reappearing while the wall of weapons was sinking into the ground.

"Good, this final treatment is really easy. Everyone looks to the right and left," instructed Doctor Shiro Ishii. The children looked around as he said, and the people and Doctor Shiro Ishii put on a wicked smiles, knowing what was about to happen.

"Ok, now the rules for this last treatment are really simple. BE THE LAST ONE STANDING!" Everyone looked at each other, trying to anticipate what the others would do. However, nothing was happening. Yet slowly, one by one, the kids started to nod in agreement.

.....

"What are they doing? Are they deaf in one ear?" Someone in the crowd yelled in a displeased manner.

"Why is someone carrying a bow? I thought you said only melee weapons?" Another person asked, also displeased.

The grandma wearing the bright blue dress walked inside the room with an excited look and exclaimed, "This is great!"

Doctor Shiro Ishii agreed with her, saying, "Indeed, this could not have gone any better as it's going right now." The crowd was left confused.

"Everyone, if you please look down and see for your own eyes what they're doing. As for the bow, it was for this exact situation," he explained. Without saying another word, everyone's gaze went down onto the children who were about to fight to the death, wondering without end what Doctor Shiro Ishii was talking about.

.....

Minutes have already passed since everyone discussed in the separate room while the kids were in the depths of hell in their own isolation room, unaware of anything. During this duration of time, no one made a move. As time went by, everyone remained motionless, facing Sho and Hiroto. It was an eerie sight, with each child slowly and silently taking their position, like predators stalking their prey.

"Well, this doesn't look good, does it, Hiroto? You would think after all these years, we would hold some bondage of familiarity. Welp, it's not like we can account for them to hold any resemblance to their old selves." Sho only signed, after all these years of pain and struggles together, that the day would come they would have turned their backs on Sho and Hiroto. Hiroto only shook his head once again.

Sho and Hiroto stood in a corner of the room, hoping to minimize their vulnerability. However, they had chosen the tree biome, which left them open to attacks from above and on the ground. Luckily for Sho, he excelled in archery, even though his bow was that of wood with an attached string this was more than enough for him.

"Crack." A cracking sound went off in the old walls, but it was like a signal for the children to start.

Besides Sho and Hiroto, there were 46 kids that were all targeting them; how was this not a disadvantage?

"Get ready Hiroto!" The first barrage was already being sent their way.

Three Spears were hurled towards them, and Hiroto quickly sprang into action, darting towards the incoming spears. He dodged the first two with ease, but the third one was headed straight for Sho.

Sho swiftly climbed up the corner wall, using his foot to push off the right side and then placing his left foot on the left side, repeating the process until he was above the reach of the spears. Though only nine years old, his accuracy was impressive, and he didn't have to climb very high to avoid them. The spears, now lodged in the wall, provided a convenient platform for him to stand on.

Sliding down the wall landing on two of the spears pointed his bow into the forest and shot his first arrow off.

"Blop.."

Within seconds the first body hit the floor, an arrow shot straight into the heart, a quick death. The distance was three trees down. His corpse lay in the field of trees, adding to the decoration of grass sticking out like a sore thumb.

Sho rested his bow on his back, securing the arrows to his body to prevent any movement. He tucked the arrow's bottom down into his pants, with the arrowhead pointing upwards into his shirt.

With the bow tight around his body, he had free hands to climb the closest tree branch, just a foot away. He pulled himself up into a sitting position and readied his bow once again. From there, he watched as Hiroto engaged in combat with their fellow classmates.

"Don't worry, I'll watch your back," As he raised his bow, Sho assured himself that he would keep an eye on Hiroto's back while taking aim and firing his arrows.

.....

Hiroto kept running to the position where the three spears were thrown, seeing seven people standing on the bright green grass open with surrounding trees, and one dead person on the ground with the arrow in his chest.

The seven look hardly composed, some of them tied cloth to bond their sword and hand together to hold their weapon. Others seem as if they wearing rags rather than clothes; however, making them look hardly composed was the brimming injuries each one of them had.

'Advantage position in the dens trees creating an almost circler gap.' Hiroto thought to himself.

This could already be seen as a trap, for they were holding their position instead of charging Hiroto, but Hiroto didn't give it a second thought going straight into the tiger den.

Hiroto charged straight into the gap despite the suspicious trap of the seven kids holding their position. They launched their attack in unison as he stepped in, rushing at him like a pack of hungry wolves. Hiroto raised his left hand towards the closest kid, who was only a few feet away, and behind him came the other six, wielding swords and shields.

Following behind him were six other people holding a sword in their hands and a shield on the left that reached to their ankles from their chest. Charging Hiroto, the kids were twisting and turning to keep inching the gap between them.

Running at full speed, Hiroto got to 3 feet from the closest kid. Flicking his left wrist, and sent the first puncture needle flying.

"Blop" The kid hits the ground with a glimmer coming from his head right in the middle between the eyes.

Getting hit by the puncture needle, the kid fell over dead before realizing what had happened to him. The other kids ran around or on his dead corpse, still leading the charge on Hiroto.
