Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: Out with the old.

Getting hit by the puncture needle, the kid fell over dead before realizing what had happened to him. The other kids ran around or on his dead corpse, still leading the charge on Hiroto.

One of the kids in the middle of the pack swiftly threw a knife directly at Hiroto's chest, skillfully avoiding the other kids who were zigzagging in front of him. Reacting quickly, Hiroto bent his back and formed a V-shape with his index and middle fingers to catch the knife. He then completed a somersault backward, throwing the knife mid-flip.

The knife hitting the kid's leg caused a momentary disruption in their formation as he lost mobility in that leg. The hamstrings, which are long muscles extending down the back of the thigh, are responsible for pulling the leg back and bending the knee. The kid could not move the knife lodged in his leg.

However, what were these kids could such a pity injury stop him from moving? Even if briefly, he moved down with the hand holding the shield covering his body and began to remove the knife. This gave him some mobility, although only for a short time.

However, this only gave Hiroto a leading chance. Running to the shield, he gathered all the muscles his thighs could afford to jump through the air, with the shield being the original jumping start.

"Whoosh"

Three kids swung their swords, slicing through the air and hitting nothing. However, they briefly froze as they watched Hiroto jump behind them.

Hiroto flipped his body while jumping off the shield, narrowly avoiding the swinging swords. As he landed on the ground, he firmly grasped onto one of the kids' jaw with both arms and pulled with all his might, bringing the kid's face in front of his right shoulder.

"POPPPP" Hiroto released his grip as the kid fell limp to the floor. The five other emotionless kids are now in range to swing their bright untouched weapons.

Hiroto's eyes led him to a tall kid swinging his sword straight down over his head toward Hiroto's left side neck. His leg looked rotten and untrod; pieces of rags covering his body looked like they would fall apart with too much movement. Underneath, another sword came piercing right below the tall kid's armpit. He was coming straight for Hiroto's right side of his stomach. He was coming straight for Hiroto's right side of his stomach.

The short stubby kid leading his sword under the tall kid's armpit resembled in the manner that his left shoulder looked busted up, almost as if it's been stabbed or torn through by a blunt weapon. Although it seems to be treated, the ample missing flesh and muscle left the short stubby kid to mostly pull straight to a stabbing position from his right arm.

While the three other kids were spacing themselves around Hiroto to cut off any path of escaping.

Hiroto found himself in a perilous situation, trapped between two opponents with swords poised to strike. He knew that if he didn't act quickly, he would be surrounded by the three other kids who were cutting off his escape.

.....

Sho from the tree branch, pulled back his bow, ready to shoot; however, he quickly grew worried that he wouldn't have enough time to shoot no matter how he thought about it. A drop of sweat rolled down Sho's forehead, but his eyes opened wide in shock before releasing his arrow. He then quickly fired his arrow, hitting one of the three kids.

Sho couldn't help but think that Hiroto made the situation that he was in look like child's play. Sho retreated his bow once more, shooting another arrow into the trees. Watching as a kid fell to the floor with an arrow as his new body part.

'If I'm no use in close range, I'll help in the far battle.' Sho couldn't help but feel in awe of Hiroto's skill as he continued to move around the forest, never staying in one spot for too long. He knew his role was to provide support from a distance, and he was determined to do everything in his power to help his friend.

.....

He was trapped, either from his right or left. Hiroto would be attacked from either side, and his back would soon be replaced with a sword gashing through him from the three kids cutting off his escape.

Hiroto made his body lose, falling to the floor. While doing so, he took his pencil knife and parried the sword in the stabbing position. The parried made Hiroto fall to his left side; however, what's a sword to a knife with a width and length of a pencil. It couldn't stand the friction halfway through the parry.

"POP" Like a firecracker, it snaps the top half of the pencil knife, making it fly toward the tall kid and hitting him in the shoulder.

Hiroto's luck has always been phenomenal enough that you would think that some of it had to be planned out; however, for the knife to just hit the tall kid and not him was a huge gamble. Think about it 43 kids are left, and if Hiroto suffers, even a slights injury could mean he dies.

He crosses his legs into a scissors position chopping the tall kid's bad leg. The rotten portion was on its last stand as it didn't take much force to trample him.

"slice"

The short stubby kid leading his sword under the tall kid's armpit cuts through the tall kid's right arm, stopping at the bone; as a result, making blood gush out. He came tumbling down with the tall kid. The sudden force attached to the sword was too much of a surprise for him just to let go of the sword. Still holding it with his entire force, he couldn't help being overwhelmed by gravity's only chance to follow along.

"Blop" Another kid hits the floor with an arrow attached to his back forehead, belonging to the three kids cutting off Hiroto's escape.

Still unfazed by all that transpired, the two other kids grabbed their shields and pancaked Hiroto—trapping him under four bodies. Then, the two kids grabbed their swords and ruthlessly began to stab through the short stubby kid and the tall kid trapped with Hiroto.

He is entirely trapped under four bodies, two fully dead from blood loss or stabbing. He felt their warm blood run on top of his skin.

He squeezed his arm out of the entrapment that he was under. He stabbed the remains of his pencil knife into the ear of one of the kids with a shield. The death was instant and painless; Hiroto grabbed his shirt and rolled him off the body pile with the pencil knife still attached.

Hiroto reached down onto the tied cloth around his waist, creating a holder for his combat knife. Luckily the other kid pinning down Hiroto stabbed through the short stubby kid. He was often stuck in the rib cage, making his sword stuck for brief seconds.

"Blop" In the forest of trees, a kid fell to the floor with an arrow being a new attachment to his body.

The body caught Hiroto's attention; however, not just his but everyone, including those in the forest. In a quick action, the tigers' din seemed surreal. Fifteen kids emerged from the trees, holding various weapons, yet they still resembled the kids Hiroto had just fought.

They all hold an injury that is somewhat of a considerable handicap, some missing an arm, eye, or severe wound that became infected.

For example, the seven kids held the advantage point; while it was not known right away, they were all injured or crimpled in some shape or form. Yet this has already put Hiroto in a near-death scenario under which he's still trapped.

Hiroto quickly realized that he would be surrounded in a manner of minutes, leaving him about 60 seconds or less to get up and ready himself. Lucky or planned out, the last person pinning down Hiroto was the person who got the knife thrown into his hamstring.

Hiroto dug his combat knife in the same spot the last knife went. At first, there was no response; however, humans' nature is to have some sort of reaction no matter how hard you train for it. So the kid subconsciously twitched up; this allowed for a brief amount enabling him to squeeze out from the entrapment of the two bodies he was under.

Realizing that Hiroto had come out from the entrapment, the kid raised his sword over Hiroto, ready for the final strike; however, Hiroto was a step faster, raising his left hand with a puncture needle sending it in the direction of the kid's ear.

Right before the kid passed out, Hiroto took his knee, kicking the butt of the kid that was on top of him, sending the kid over to Hiroto along with the sword. The sword was right above Hiroto; if he didn't do this in time, it would directly fall on top of him, leaving who knows how bad of an injury.

"Blop" Another sound of a body hitting the ground goes off around Hiroto. Adding to the decoration of the forest beside the green trees and newly colored grass.

Getting out of the dog pile, Hiroto didn't have the luxury to trail his mind off to think if Sho was alright, much less to catch his breath. His breathing was heavy, and sweat was pouring down his face. Gritting his teeth, Hiroto reached down, grabbing a sword of one of the previous owners from the pile of bodies.

His vision was slightly dark, but he quickly regained focus and got into his stance while the new wave of fifteen people rushed him.
