Two guards walking to the remains of the marquise residence are getting ready to relieve the two knights standing watch, as they get up to the front they notice everything is ashes. The guards rush up to take a closer look to see a hardened puddle of steel, with a skeletons spine trapped in it. The guards instantly become sickened by the sight because they know who it is. Both guards look at each other. One says, "Where is the other guard?"At that same time, they hear crows tapping their beaks against metal over at the cross almost as a sign for them to go that way. They rushed over with no care if it was a trap or not, to see that it was their friend. There he was, hung on the cross, just skeleton remains burned black. Fear gripped the guards as they saw the writing above the dead knight, higher than anyone could reach, leon told the other guard, " Run and tell the captain and get some reinforcements."
The captain was writing in his office as a group of guards burst through the door. The guard stands up straight and says, " forgive the intrusive entry captain, but there is news of the marquise hold in the southern territory. Two of our guards were killed and burned, and one was pinned to the cross that the marquise was on." Captain put on a serious face and asked."Where are the bodies?!" The guard said,"The marquise was buried next to his wife, and there is no sign of the boy."That's not the weirdest part. There was a note on top of the cross left for us saying the goddess of darkness has returned, and it looks like the boy rose from the dead, sir." The captain said,"Do you know how ridiculous that sounds the dead can't come back to life!" I'll take this information to the Duke, send a squad to the marquise, and tell the church bishop to meet me at the dukes manor." "Yes sir," said the guard, then left in a hurry to the church the other guards followed.
Duke Volcan sat in his office going through paperwork on the land the marquise residence was on. The Duke had white hair and a well-kept beard with a scar over his right blue eye. His clothes were of very good, you could tell he was very wealthy. The butler knocks on the door while standing in the doorway and then says, " Excuse me, sir, the captain of the guard with the bishop of the church is here." He says,"It's important and for your ears only." The Duke sits up in curiosity and says," Let them in, ill see them immediately. " The butler excuses himself as he leaves to bring the captain and the bishop. The captain and bishop reach the office as they enter the captain says "sorry for the intrusion my lord but I've received word that two of my guardsmen have been killed, but the weird part is they were burned to ash and one was hung on the cross where the marquise was on". "There's no sign of the boy an there was a note left on the cross saying the goddess of darkness has returned, I don't know what that means but I figured that's important information for you."
The bishops eyes widen, and he starts panicking. " I have to tell the archbishop and the pope." Duke Volcan looks at the bishop and says, "What do you know about this?" The bishop says that "the twenty third pope of light had a vision of darkness sweeping over the land and it will come from a boy with black eyes" "Since the pope declared that any boys with black eyes will be killed upon birth and so the family so it will not happen." The Duke stood and said" then you need to see your pope and as for you captain send your fastest man to the king let him know that the boy is still alive and we await his orders for now set out a bounty for 20 gold coins put them everywhere if some one sees him I want to know about it now go!"
They both leave as the butler walks in and says "master is there anything you need?" Yes, I need you to take this parchment to some able bodied assasins and see if they can take care of this problem." "As you wish master" says the butler as he leaves. The Duke sits in the chair, trying to figure out what the hell is going on. He walks to the library to see if he can find anything on this prophecy. He grabs an ancient text and sits to read it. The text goes to say that 2 thousand years ago the God of light had a wife the goddess of darkness everything was balanced as new gods and goddesses came I to being the God of light felt lust over the other females so he sealed his wife in another realm. The goddess of darkness vowed when she got out she would destroy the world he loves so much and make him pay for what he did. The Duke closes the text and admits it sounds like a fairy tale, but if it's true, then is there even anything we can even do? This is a war between gods.
As the Duke sits back in the chair, he rubs his temples due to stress. "Well, there's nothing I can do except fortify my territories and get more soldiers in my personal army. Stock up on food and supplies from other territories. Hopefully, King Zander will know what to do, and if not, the church will take over." he says to himself in the darkness of his office, his face twisted with worry.
