Chereads / Multiverse Missions: Mercernary League / Chapter 2 - Arc 1: Murder Mystery (01)

Chapter 2 - Arc 1: Murder Mystery (01)

When Lance woke up again, he was already in a different location.

He was somewhere, but he couldn't tell where because a pale red futuristic panel was glued to his eyes.

It appeared right in front of his eyes. Even when he moved his eye, the words remained static, as if they were stuck to his retinas.

The following were the contents of those words:

The surroundings had changed automatically when Lance touched the pale red panel.

He was already inside a structure, surrounded by a large group of individuals, all of whom appeared to be in their early twenties.

A beautiful girl was holding his hand, looking very intimate to him.

On both sides of the wall, enormous mirrors were inlaid, reflecting the scene in the hall and the images of Lance and other people.

The time seemed to be night, with bright chandeliers on the ceiling.

Lance looked around, but he couldn't remember the names of most of the people around him.

Except for a single girl, Maisy Webster

beside him. She had a short, pleated skirt with tiny suspenders on; her pale, slender legs were exposed.

Maisy was also the 'Female Lead' of this world.

Despite the fact that the additional memories were jumbled together, the main points were three:

First and foremost, his name is Kyle Whitney, and he was Maisy's classmate.

Second, he has a crush on Maisy and follows her to this haunted mansion.

Third, he will soon die.

It was also because of the third reason—his memories were short and hazy, and all he knew was that something supernatural would kill him.

However, given that the League has sent him here, there must be a way for him to survive.

__________

Maisy shrank into Lance's arms almost immediately as the almost dim chandelier lights flickered.

"Kyle, this is terrifying...please don't leave me!" Why did I listen to Joanna and Henry's plan...?!"

Running to the well-known haunted location in the middle of the night is not an adventure; it is better referred to as death.

But now, these scientifically inclined teenagers are unaware that there are real supernatural forces at work in this structure.

Hearing Maisy's words, the girl named Joanna rolled her eyes, "Come on, Maisy, It isn't that scary - don't be a pussy!"

As if on cue, Henry reproached Joanna, saying, "How can you talk to Maisy like that?"

Lance looked above, ignoring the three people arguing around him.

The chandeliers in this haunted mansion were unusually still working, and no one had thought anything of it.

At the same time, who actually switched these?

Excluding his group of Maisy, Joanna and Henry. Other small groups of four and five people were also present.

Lance counted more than 48 people present; under normal circumstances, such a large crowd would be unusual, but as the saying goes, the more the merrier.

Lance turned his gaze away from the crowd and back to his surroundings, looking for the entrance or, more accurately, the exit from this hellhole.

Lance had located what we needed and was about to go when suddenly,

A young man with a calm demeanour and obvious good looks met his eyes.

The man made a slight frowning motion and then abruptly broke eye contact by turning and firmly pushing the door.

Even though there was no lock on the door, it was tightly closed.

The same thing happened when the young man pushed again.

Lance sighed; the hunt had begun.

The rest of the people in the area were unaware of the situation and began to scatter throughout the mansion.

They came here to explore, and even if some retreated temporarily, their partners would drag them along.

"Let's go up and have a look, it's not interesting to stand here all the time." Joanna muttered as she dragged Maisy along with her.

Although Maisy was terrified, she was also eager to try.

She hesitated for a moment, and said: "Let's go, Kyle, we're here anyway."

Staying in the hall is completely pointless. You might come across some hints to escape if you look around the building.

"Let's explore the ground floor first." Kyle and Henry died on the first floor, according to the memories, so it's best to avoid it first.

Before Lance could ask if they agreed, Joanna gave him a flattering look.

"Let's go if Kyle wants to!"

It's a shame Lance doesn't even know what her last name was. It seems Joanna had feelings for Kyle, and Kyle had feelings for Maisy.

Lance moved forward after being prodded by Maisy and looked at the position in front of the entrance for a moment.

The young handsome man who had just pushed the door was conversing with his companion.

His companion's face was pale, and he pushed the door again and again, but it remained motionless.

A stunningly beautiful woman stood a few steps away.

She played it down by wearing no make-up, a loose-fitting vintage dress, and flat shoes while looking at the young man as if curious about what they were doing.

Large corridors blocked Lance's vision before he could think any further about the strange woman.

The corridor lights were dim, reflecting the pale walls, and the only one extremely dim light every three metres.

The end was hidden in the shadows, as if a hideous monster that eats people were waiting for its next victim.
