Chapter 6:
After finishing up their lunch, the four continued on with the class. And Yan Longwei was on the knife's edge. He had to keep up with the people glaring again. With how Cheng Lihua hung out with the three, the others felt angry!
But thankfully, Yan Longwei survived the hassle. The four walked out of the school, even with the students chasing after them.
"Lihua, do you have any time after this?" Zeng Qingzhao asked.
"Mmhmm." Cheng Lihua nodded.
"Then how about we go and celebrate!" Zeng Qingzhao grabbed Cheng Lihua's hand as she pointed at the sky. Qi Li clapped his hands while Yan Longwei shook his head as they followed after her.
They went to a nearby cafe. And Zeng Qingzhao's eyes beamed,
"I'm going to get the chocolate latte!"
"Do you even have enough to pay for it?" Yan Longwei said with a laugh.
"I have more than enough money!" Zeng Qingzhao puffed.
"That's good. Then I'm going to get two strawberry parfaits." The moment Yan Longwei said this, the expression on Zeng Qingzhao's face grew dim.
"Do you have to buy so much?!"
Yan Longwei shook his head, "Hey, you're the one who said you got enough money. And think of it like this, the faster I eat, the more you don't have to owe me."
"Hmm, you're right?" But why does it feel like you're playing me?" Zeng Qingzhao felt something was off. But it was true.
"I'll have green tea then." Qi Li ignored the two and turned to Cheng Lihua,
"What are you going to get?"
"I'll get a chocolate latte as well." Cheng Lihua added.
"Yay! Lihua and I are the same!" Zeng Qingzhao said with a big smile.
"And god forbid she becomes like you." Yan Longwei added. They didn't need a second Zeng Qingzhao.
"..." You're asking for a fight! But Zeng Qingzhao couldn't as their drinks came out.
"Sweet." The moment Cheng Lihua drank the chocolate latte, her face turned rosy.
"So you're a sweet person?" Qi Li asked.
Cheng Lihua shook her head, "I do prefer sweets. But I also like salty things too."
"Thank goodness. Our group has a sweet freak here already." Qi Li said as he pointed at Yan Longwei, who wolfed down the parfaits with a happy expression.
Seeing how he was eating, Zeng Qingzhao started to tear up. My money.
Yan Longwei continued to eat and then noticed Cheng Lihua eyeing down his parfait, "You're not getting any." There was no way he was going to hand it to her.
I had to fight tooth and nail through class! This was his reward for suffering so much in class today.
"Ahh." Cheng Lihua didn't look at him and continued to drink her latte.
...
"Be careful on your way home, Lihua!" Zeng Qingzhao waved her hands. Qi Li and Zeng Qingzhao were going the opposite way of the two.
"See you tomorrow." Cheng Lihua waved back too.
"So we're going the same way?" Cheng Lihua wasn't alone as Yan Longwei stood next to her.
"Mmhmm."
"..." As the two walked, Yan Longwei and Cheng Lihua were in utter silence. Zeng Qingzhao and Qi Li were great at communication. But Yan Longwei was by no means the same as those two.
And he didn't mind. He was ok with the silence.
"..."
A couple of minutes later, Yan Longwei felt something was off. She's walking the same way as me. And they had been walking for quite some time now.
"Umm, your house is this way too?"
"Mmhmm." Cheng Lihua nodded her head.
"I see." Yan Longwei didn't think much about it. There were tons of houses around there. But a couple of minutes later,
Are you sure your house is this way?!
This was getting too weird!
When he turned to look at Cheng Lihua, she also had the same confused look as him! She didn't think Yan Longwei would be there either!
Like the two started to distance themselves a bit as they continued to walk. Eventually, Yan Longwei arrived home,
"This is where I live?" Yan Longwei said as he pointed at his house. When he did that, Cheng Lihua's face turned wide,
"I live next door."
"..." There was a moment of silence. Then, the two pointed at each other,
"Then you're the daughter!" "You're the son!" The two heard about each other from their parents. And the two continued to point until Pan Jiaying came out,
"Xiao Wei, you returned." "Lihua, how was school?" And right beside her was a beautiful lady. If Cheng Lihua was a few years older, she would look like her.
And seeing how they were staring at each other,
"It seems you two have met each other."
...
"I should introduce myself; my name is Cui Hualing, and we've moved next door. Thank you for taking care of my daughter at school today."
"It's nothing..." Yan Longwei's voice strayed off as he finished it. And he knew it too: today was just the beginning!
"Xiao Wei, how about you bring Lihua up into your room. There's some time before we have dinner." Pan Jiaying said.
"Alright." Yan Longwei nodded as he walked up the stairs. Cheng Lihua followed suit behind him. When she walked into the room, she found the room nice.
"There really isn't much to do in here. But make yourself at home." Yan Longwei said as he sat down in his chair.
And Cheng Lihua sat down on the bed,
"To think your mother was friends with mine." Yan Longwei could only grab his head. What were the chances of the new super beauty being his neighbor?
This sounded like a novel!
"Sorry about that." Cheng Lihua apologized as she looked down at the ground. Huh? Yan Longwei tilted his head,
"What are you apologizing for?" You did nothing wrong.
"But you were so unhappy with me today."
"!" You realized that? Yan Longwei kept the straightest face possible so no one could read him.
But it seemed that she realized his anxiousness.
