Alexa wasn't sure of what to say. She looked frozen and shocked as she hadn't expected him to say that.
Christopher's eyes were on her as he dragged and puffed on his cigarette.
"I—I didn't know her death affected you so much. I didn't—" she trailed off, confused on what to say.
Christopher nodded. "It's fine. It had its days. Now it's just in the past."
Alexa wondered if it was just in the past. Her mother had died when she was four, but she still thought of her everyday. She carried what little memories she still had of her, and everyday she treasured them and prayed they remained. So could it be in his past when it had taken such a part of him.
"I'm sorry, Christopher." She apologized.
His eyes gazed at her. "What for?"
"That you lost two important parts of you. You were a child."
"I was a teenager." He corrected her. "Even almost an adult."
