Chapter 27 - Decent progress

Up to eight story quests were totaled up on the screen. Many of which could at most, when added up, could decrease his penalty by half.

"Hm? What's this?"

A particular window caught his eye as he clicked on it to reveal its full information.

'

Mission: Complete the [Academy Arc] with a generic and happy ending.

Reward: [Fifty points]

Time limit: 3Y: 11M: 2D

Penalty - Increased chance of less [Generic & Happy ending] quests. >'

"System.. what do you mean by a generic ending?", Archehon looked at the dark-blue screen with a slightly confused look on his face.

''

"Okay.", Archehon didn't even bother questioning it even more. He knew that there was more to it but it did come to him that the system wouldn't grant him any more information than that.

"Now.."

Archehon closed the dark-blue screen and stretched his arms before sitting on the ground, crossing his legs.

".. I should focus on unlocking my Divine Power first."

"After all, it's the weekend and I have holidays."

The day was perfect for Archehon, especially when he had incredible amounts of free time to focus mainly on training so that he could increase his stats quicker. This also was helpful for him to be able to, hopefully, find out what his Divine Power ability really was.

He slowly breathed in and out before focusing intensely.

'My ability.. my mind.. my circumstances..'

Thousands of thoughts flooded his mind as he tried to awaken his Divine Power.

One day later...

"No way!"

He looked at his hands which manipulated a weird and squiggly shape which couldn't be seen or felt or smelt.

"I sense something here. I think I awakened the shape of the Divine Power but I still have to find out what kind of ability it is."

"Now.. let's think."

Archehon pondered for hours on end but failed.

He could still feel the presence and he knew for a fact that he awakened its form, but he didn't have a clue on what it was.

"Dammit.."

He laid down on the floor and stared at the ceiling, mentally exhausted from the countless attempts on what it was like.

"I tried linking it with my personality and failed. I even tried to link it to my circumstances and failed. I've tried many different things but can't seem to find the correct way to unlock the different feelings, including scent or sight."

"Haaa..."

He slowly stood up and wiped his sapped face with a towel after giving up.

"I knew that it would take a long time, but didn't expect it to be this long."

Knock-knock-

He heard muffled noises of people at the door and slowly twisted the handle to see Atif and Linda arguing with each other.

"Hey! I was here first, peasant!", Linda sneered at Atif arrogantly.

"Peasant? How dare you call me that, you spoiled piece of-"

"Guys?"

Archehon looked at the two with a face that looked like a guardian taking care of two children.

"Ah, A-Archehon.."

Linda turned away while Atif looked at the two making a lack of eye contact.

"Oh? I get it.", Atif nodded.

"Get what? No, do you know what? Just.. come in, the two of you.", Archehon opened the door and walked to the side after sighing.

Both of the people who were just arguing two seconds ago, walked into the room calmly, contrasting their previous actions.

"So, why have the two of you come to my dorm?"

Archehon sat on his bed while looking at the two who sat oppositely to him on their chairs.

"I came here to ask if we can both work together on the General Weapons Class assignment?"

"Also, we and another person share this dorm.", Atif explained his reason and,

As for Linda's..

"I, uh.."

She quickly looked around in the room and saw his spear sitting on the wall before spitting out,

".. was going to ask if you want to battle my spirits with your spear to improve your experience?"

"And, I also thought that I would receive a thank you with your apology.", she added on at the end.

'His apology?', Atif looked at Linda, wondering what she meant.

'Hmm..'

Archehon looked at the two for a few seconds before finally speaking.

"Atif, wasn't the assignment something you do independently?"

"Yes, it was but when I asked the teacher if I could do it in pairs, he agreed."

"Alright, and Linda, sure. I'd love to fight your spirits, but can we leave that for later on today?"

"Ha, fine."

'It is important that I stick around these two as much as possible to increase my Relationship status so I can turn them into good subordinates.', Archehon thought.

"Okay, then. Let's get started."

* * *

One week later...

Archehon was again holed inside of his room as he meditated.

"Tch, no luck."

He was trying to fully awaken his Divine Power but failed.

He checked his clock to see the time set at almost noon.

"Okay, I guess it's time to meet Linda again."

Archehon quickly got dressed out of his pyjamas and began walking out the dorm's door.

'Since last week, I've been fighting spirits with Linda and have figured out that spirits are more commonly used than Magic which completely changes things as over two hundred years ago, it was the opposite.'

Sigh.

'How the world can change so easily..'

Archehon spoke like an old man despite dying in his late twenties in his previous life as Lucifer.

Flinch—

Archehon was caught off guard after arriving at the arena's door.

He walked in and found the arena to be pretty big, far bigger than he imagined. You could tell that a large amount of resources were put into developing the arena.

"Wow.."

"Hmph! I know, it's massive, right?", Linda stood at the side of the entrance to the arena.

"My family has donated a huge amount of funds to the academy which allowed them to grant me my own personal training ground."

Linda smirked arrogantly.

"Despite having fought in this arena last week, you're still amazed."

"Well, not really.", Archehon looked at the grounds with a plain expression.

"Huh?", Linda was caught off guard by his response.

"What do you mean it's not impressive??"

"Didn't you not use 'Daddy's' money for this? And, I get to use this type of arena in my training class.", he shrugged and smiled at her.

"Y-you.."

Her face tensed in anger before,

"Ha.. forget it."

Calming herself down.

"Now, let's just begin the battle."

She walked to her side of the arena.

"Don't forget your apology and thanks after we finish this battle.."

".. that you never gave me last time!"

Linda surrounded majestically herself with twirls of water that were produced by thousands of tiny water spirits.

When she brought out her completely charged output of water..

Spike!—

Her hands plunged the water particles towards Archehon like a huge thorn.

Archehon smiled and ducked down, placing his hands and knees on the floor like a spider before boosting himself towards her with just his legs.

'What the- what a weird way of fighting!', Linda thought as Archehon sprung himself in the direction of her ankles.

She clenched her teeth and used incredibly pure droplets of water as stairs for her shoe to jump upon.

"I won't apologize for anything~", Archehon grinned as he skid then jumped into the air.

"Then.."

She formed a squiggly but big ball of water, half the size of herself, to launch at Archehon while he was still in the air.

".. I'll make you apologize, idiot!"

While the water ball charged towards him at a fast pace, he spun his body like an orangutan and kicked the circumference of the ball to launch himself back.

Skid—

"Huh? H-how did you do that?!", Linda looked shocked as he threw himself back with his incredibly odd moves.

Her move was using half of her strength which she didn't expect a first year to be able to counter so easily, in such a manner.

"How? It's nothing special."

He smirked.

"It can be done with practice."

'Practice? Is he.. mocking me?', Linda thought as she felt more angry.

"Y-you.."

She threw herself at him while forming a huge hammer, its head the size of her face, which included thousands of more tiny water spirits.

'Tch, my feet are still injured by her water ball. This pathetic body and talent.'

The hammer slowly travelled closer towards him..

'What should I do? I can't move out of the way and it's not like I can erase my presence at all- wait a minute.'

Archehon had a sudden thought, before the hammer's head was an inch away from his face.

'What if I erased my presence altogether? By..'

He brought out the squiggly matter in his hand that he couldn't smell or hear or touch, and had thoughts of disconnecting his mana from the world.

Then, which..

Smash!—

Her hydro-like hammer found nothing detected on the floor of which she felt nothing anywhere.

No presence could be sensed.

"Huh? Where did you go-"

Smack—

She felt a hand to the back of her throat before diving to her back.

"Ah!"

Thump—

"Ow.."

Archehon brought his spear down towards her.

"It looks like I won.", he smiled.

Her facial expressions quickly changed to shock instead of defeat after she was brought to the ground.

"What.. how.."

She couldn't control her words for a few seconds before speaking..

".. did you do that?"
